This paper presents a SISO nonlinear controller for the power system consisting of a synchronous generator connected to an infinite bus. The proposed controller is based on input-output feedback linearization, with a modified version of the terminal voltage equation used as the output. The resulting closed-loop has no internal dynamics, and thus stability is guaranteed. The controller performance is seen to be effective through simulations.
Vibration is an undesirable phenomenon in a dynamic system like lightly damped aerospace structures and active vibration control has gradually been employed to suppress vibration. The objective of the current investigation is to introduce an active torsional magneto-rheological (MR) fluid based damper for vibration control of a typical nose landing gear. They offer the adaptability of active control devices without requiring the associated large power sources. A torsional damper is designed and developed based on Bingham plastic shear flow model. The numerical analysis is carried out to estimate the damping coefficient and damping force. The designed damper is fabricated and an experimental setup is also established to characterize the damper and these results are compared with the analytical results. A typical FE model of Nose landing gear is developed to study the effectiveness of the damper. Open loop response analysis has been carried out and response levels are monitored at the piston tip of a nose landing gear for various loading conditions without damper and with MR-damper as semi-active device. The closed-loop full state feedback control scheme by the pole-placement technique is also applied to control the landing gear instability of an aircraft.
In order to promote the application of switched reluctance machines (SRM) in electric vehicles (EVs), the braking torque closed-loop control of a SRM is proposed. A hysteresis current regulator with the soft chopping mode is employed to reduce the switching frequency and switching loss. A torque estimator is designed to estimate the braking torque online and to achieve braking torque feedback. A feed-forward plus saturation compensation torque regulator is designed to decrease the dynamic response time and to improve the steady-state accuracy of the braking torque. The turn-on and turn-off angles are optimized by a genetic algorithm (GA) to reduce the braking torque ripple and to improve the braking energy feedback efficiency. Finally, a simulation model and an experimental platform are built. The simulation and experimental results demonstrate the correctness of the proposed control strategy.

The parameter modification of the initial FEM model to match it with the experimental results needs the modal information and the modal sensitivity matrix to the parameter change. There are two cases this methodology is ill-equip to deal with; the deficiency of the necessary modal information and the ill-conditioning of the sensitivity matrix. In this research, a novel concept of the feedback exciter that uses the summation of the white noise and the signals from the measurement sensors multiplied with feedback gains as the reference signal is proposed. There are 2 advantages using this external feedback excitation. First, we can use the change of the system response such as modal data by the active energy Path from the sensor to the exciter. This change of the system response can be additional clues to the system dynamics that we want to know. Secondly, the external energy Path alternates the offset of the Parameter change to the system response. That means the modal sensitivity of the parameters becomes different from the original sensitivities by the feedback excitation. Through the feedback loop, we can change the similar modal sensitivities of some updating parameters and consequently discriminate the parameters using the closed-loop modal data. To demonstrate the discrimination performance, the parameter estimation of an indeterminate structure by use of the feedback method is introduced.

Model updating method is known to the area to correct finite element models by the results of the experimental modal analysis. Most common methods in model updating depend on a parametric model of the structure. In this case, the number of parameters is normally smaller than that of modal data obtained from an experiment. In order to overcome this limitation, many researchers are trying to get modal data as many as possible to date. 1 want to name this method multiple modified-system generation method. These Methods consist of direct system modification method and feedback controller method. The direct system modification Is to add a mass or stiffness on the original structure or perturb the boundary conditions. The feedback controller method is to make the closed food system with sensor and actuator so as to get the closed loop modal data. In this paper, we need to focus on the feedback controller method because of its simplicity. Several methods related the feedback controller methods are virtual passive controller (VPC) sensitivity enhancement controller (SEC) and mode decoupling controller (MDC). Among them, we will apply MDC to the model updating problem. MDC has various advantages compared with other controllers, such as VPC and SEC. To begin with, only the target mode can be changed without changing modal property of non-target modes. In addition, it is possible to fix any modes if the number of sensors is equal to that of the system modes. Finally, the required control power to achieve desired change of target mode is always lower than those of other methods such as VPC. However, MDC can make the closed loop system unstable when using incomplete modal data. So we need to take action to avoid undesirable instability from incomplete modal data. In this paper, we address the method to design the unique and robust MDD obtained from incomplete modal data. The associated simulation will be Incorporated to demonstrate the usefulness of this method.

The $H_{\infty}$ entropy in $H_{\infty}$ control theory is discussed based on investigating information transmission in continuous-time linear stochastic systems. It is proved that the stabilizing feedback does not change the time-average information transmission between system input and output, and the $H_{\infty}$ entropies of open- and closed-loop stable transfer functions are bounded by mutual information rate between input and output in the open-loop system. Furthermore, a new $H_2$ upper bound for $H_{\infty}$ entropy is introduced with a numerical example. Thus the $H_{\infty}$ entropy of a stable transfer function is sandwiched between $H_2$ norms of the original system and a static feedback system.

The aim of applying Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) is to restore a person's motor function by directly supplying the controlled electrical currents to the site of the paralyzed muscles. However, most clinically utilized FES systems have adapted an open-loop control scheme. Recently the closed-loop control scheme has been considered for setting up the FES system, but due to the inherent nonlinearities in the musculoskeletal system, the nonlinearities were not fully compensated and it caused the oscillatory responses for tracking the output variables. In this study, a nonlinear controller model that has two inverse compensation units is proposed with the compromising feedback linearization method and this will eventually be used to design the FES control system for stimulating a knee joint musculoskeletal system.

Crane payloads frequently swing with large amplitude motion that degrades safety and throughput. Open-loop methods have addressed this problem, but are not effective for disturbances. Closed-loop methods have also been used, but generally require the speed of the driving motors to be precisely controlled. This paper develops a feedback control method for controlling motors to cancel the measured payload oscillations by intelligently timing the ensuing on and off motor commands. The effectiveness of the oscillation suppression scheme is experimentally verified on an industrial bridge crane.
In this paper, the steady-state analysis of the three-phase self-excited induction generator (SEIG) driven by a variable-speed prime mover (VSPM) such as a wind turbine is presented. The steady-state torque-speed characteristics of the VSPM are considered with the three-phase SEIG equivalent circuit for evaluating the operating performances due to the inductive load variations. Furthermore, a PI closed-loop feedback voltage regulation scheme based on the static VAR compensator (SVC) for the three-phase SEIG driven by the VSPM is designed and considered for the wind power generation conditioner. The simulation and experimental results prove the practical effectiveness of the additional SVC with the PI controller-based feedback loop in terms of fast response and high performances.
This paper presents a new quantisation algorithm which has the closed-loop form and guarantees the boundness of accumulative error. This algorithm is particularly useful for mobile robot navigation that is usually implemented on embedded systems. If wheel commands of the mobile robot are given by velocity or positional increment at every control instant and quantised due to finite word length of controller's CPU, the quantisation error gets accumulated to causes large position error. Such an error accumulative characteristic is fatal for non wheeled mobile robots or autonomous vehicles with non-holonomic constraint. To solve this problem, we propose a non-error accumulative quantisation algorithm with closed-loop form. We also show it can be extend to a generalized form corresponding to the n-th order accumulation. The boundness of the accumulative quantisation error is investigated by a series of computer simulation. The proposed method is particularly effective to precise navigation control the autonomous mobile robots.
