  • This paper describes novel flip-flops with improved robustness and reduced power consumption. Variable sampling window flip-flop (VSWFF) adjusts the width of the sampling window according to input data, providing robust data latching as well as shorter hold time. The flip-flop also reduces power consumption for higher input switching activities as compared to the conventional low-power flip-flop. Clock swing-reduced variable sampling window flip-flop (CSR-VSWFF) reduces clock power consumption by allowing the use of a small swing clock. Unlike conventional reduced clock swing flip-flops, it requires no additional voltage higher than the supply voltage, eliminating design overhead related to the generation and distribution of this voltage. Simulation results indicate that the proposed flip-flops provide uniform latency for narrower sampling window and improved power-delay product as compared to conventional flip-flops. To evaluate the performance of the proposed flip-flops, test structures were designed and implemented in a $0.3\mu m$ CMOS process technology. Experimental result indicates that VSWFF yields power reduction for the maximum input switching activity, and a synchronous counter designed with CSR-VSWFF improves performance in terms of power consumption with no use of extra voltage higher than the supply voltage.

  • This paper describes a design of AES-based CCM Protocol for IEEE 802.11i Wireless LAN Security. The CCMP core is designed with 128-bit data path and iterative structyre which uses 1 clock cycle per round operation. To maximize its performance, two AES cores are used, one is for counter mode for data confidentiality and the other is for CBC(Cipher Block Chaining) mode for authentication and data integrity. The S-box that requires the largest hardware in AES core is implemented using composite field arithmetic, and the gate count is reduced by about 23% compared with conventional LUT-based design. The CCMP core designed in Verilog-HDL has 35,013 gates, and the estimated throughput is about 768Mbps at 66-MHz clock frequency.

  • This paper presents the design of high speed processor for a sequence logic control using field programmable gate array(FPGA). The sequence logic controller is widely used for automating a variety of industrial plants. The FPGA designed by VHDL consists of program and data memory interface block, input and output block, instruction fetch and decoder block, register and ALU block, program counter block, debug control block respectively. Dedicated clock inputs in the FPGA were used for high speed execution, and also the program memory was separated from the data memory for high speed execution of the sequence instructions at 40 MHz clock. Therefore it was possible that sequence instructions could be operated at the same time during the instruction fetch cycle. In order to reduce the instruction decoding time and the interface time of the data memory interface, an instruction code size was implemented by 16 bits or 32 bits respectively. And the real time debug operation was implemented for easy debugging the designed processor. This FPGA was synthesized by pASIC 2 SpDE and Synplify-Lite synthesis tool of Quick Logic company. The final simulation for worst cases was successfully performed under a Verilog HDL simulation environment. And the FPGA programmed for an 84 pin PLCC package was applied to sequence control system with inputs and outputs of 256 points. The designed processor for the sequence logic was compared with the control system using the DSP(TM320C32-40MHz) and conventional PLC system. The designed processor for the sequence logic showed good performance.

  • The aim of this Paper is to describe the implementation of a low-power digital front-End Design (FED) that will act as the core of a stand-alone Power dissipation methodology. The design of digital integrated circuits is a large and diverse area, and we have chosen to focus on low power FED. Designs are made from synthesized logic, and we need to consider the low power digital FED including input clock, buffer, latches, voltage regulator, and capacitance-to-voltage counter which have been integrated onto hish bandwidth communication chips and system. These single- chip micro instruments, implemented in a 0.12um CMOS technology operate with a single 0.9V supply voltage, and can be used to monitor dynamic and static power dissipation, Vesture, acceleration junction temperature (Tj), etc.

  • A novel switched-capacitor circuit for interfacing capacitive microtransducers with a digital system is developed based on the dual-slope integration. It consists of a differential integrator and a comparator. Driven by the teo phase clock, the circuit first senses the capacitance difference between the transducer and the reference capacitor in the form of charge, and accumulates it into the feedback capabitor of the integrator for a fixed period of time. The resulant accumulated charge is next extracted by the known reference charge until the integrator output voltage refurns to zero. The length of time required for the integrator output to return to zero, as measured by the number of clock cycle gated into a counter is proportional to the capacitance difference, averaged over the integration period. The whole operation is insensitive to the reference voltage and the capacitor values involved in the circuit, Thus the proposed circuit permits an accurate differental capacitance measurement. An error analysis has showh that the resolution as high as 8 bits can be expected by realizing the circuit in a monolithic MOS IC form. Besides the accuracy, it features the small device count integrable onto a small chip area. The circuit is thus particularly suitadble for the on-chip interface.

  • This paper develops the piece creation of Hull-structure using PC(Personal Computer) which is from CADRA of graphic program. Large-sized shipbuilding yard was carried out on the development of CNC(Computer Numerical Control) auto cutting system used in super S/W such as AUTODEF, TRIBON. But this system needs lots of expenses and high technician, and only used in large-sized shipbuilding yard, not medium-sized and small-sized shipbuilding yard. To bring up the small and medium-sized ship building yard lacking a little competitive power. Small and medium-sized shipbuilding yard need the piece creation of Hull Structure S/W which is joined with the CADRA. Therefore the piece creation of Hull-Structure S/W is developed to joined with the CADRA of graphic S/W to create the piece to be needed on as auto cutting process using PC.

  • The most of the CDMA mobile communication depends on the GPS for the time synchronization. Then, we must prepare alternative system against the unusable GPS like a unexpectable accident or strategic purpose by the USA government. In this study, we have constructed ground test segment for the time synchronization system using the geostationary satellite. In addition. we have designed, manufactured and tested the transmitting and receiving board to receive 1 PPS signal from atomic clock for transmitting stored data in buffer to satellite modem and to produce 1 PPS signal from satellite modem for measuring time delay.

  • This paper presents a mixed-mode CMOS duty-cycle corrector (DCC) circuit that has a dynamic frequency scaling (DFS) counter and coarse and fine tuning adjustments. A higher duty-cycle correction accuracy and smaller jitter have been achieved by utilizing the DFS counter that reduces the bit-switching glitch effect of a digital to analog converter (DAC). The proposed circuit has been designed using a 0.18-${\mu}m$ CMOS process. The measured duty cycle error is less than ${\pm}1.1%$ for a wide input duty-cycle range of 25-75% over a wide freqeuncy range of 0.5-1.5 GHz.

  • In this paper, x-ray image sensor of photon counting type having a $32{\times}32$ pixel array is designed with $0.18{\mu}m$ triple-well CMOS process. Each pixel of the designed image sensor has an area of loot $100{\times}100\;{\mu}m2$ and is composed of about 400 transistors. It has an open pad of an area of $50{\times}50{\mu}m2$ of CSA(charge Sensitive Amplifier) with x-ray detector through a bump bonding. To reduce layout size, self-biased folded cascode CMOS OP amp is used instead of folded cascode OP amp with voltage bias circuit at each single-pixel CSA, and 15-bit LFSR(Linear Feedback Shift Register) counter clock generator is proposed to remove short pulse which occurs from the clock before and after it enters the counting mode. And it is designed that sensor data can be read out of the sensor column by column using a column address decoder to reduce the maximum current of the CMOS x-ray image sensor in the readout mode.

  • This paper describes design and implementation of a spread spectrum clock generator (SSCG) for the DisplayPort. The proposed architecture generates the spread spectrum clock using a sigma-delta fractional-N PLL. The SSCG uses a digital End order MASH 1-1 sigma-delta modulator and a 9bit Up/Dn counter. By using MASH 1-1 sigma-delta modulator, complexity of circuit and chip area can be reduced. The advantage of sigma-delta modulator is the better control over modulation frequency and spread ratio. The SSCG generates dual clock rates which are 270MHz and 162MHz with 0.25% down-spreading and triangular waveform frequency modulation of 33kHz. The peak power reduction is 11.1dBm at 270MHz. The circuit has been designed and fabricated using in 0.18$\mu$m CMOS technology. The chip occupies 0.620mm$\times$0.780mm. The measurement results show that the fabricated chip satisfies the DispalyPort standard.
