  • In this paper, the efficient BILBO(named EBILBO) is designed for BIST that is able to batch the testing when circuit is designed on FPGA. The proposed algorithm of batch testing is able to test the normal operation speed with one-pin-count that can control all part of large and complex circuit. PRTPG is used for the test pattern and MISR is used for PSA. The proposed algorithm of batch testing is VHDL coding on behavioral description, so it is easily modified the model of test pattern generation, signature analysis and compression. The EBILBO's area and the performance of designed BIST are evaluated with ISCAS89 benchmark circuit on FPGA. In circuit with above 600 cells, it is shown that area is reduced below 30%, test pattern is flexibly generated about 500K and the fault coverage is from 88.3% to 100%. EBILBO for the proposed batch testing BIST is able to execute concurrently normal and test mode operation in real time to the number of $s+n+(2^s/2^p-1)$ clock(where, in CUT, # of PI;n, # of register, p is order # of polynomial). The proposed algorithm coded with VHDL is made of library, then it well be widely applied to DFT that satisfy the design and test field on sme time.

  • This study describes the design and implementation of a simulated signal generator to demonstrate the performance of VHF band radar for the detection of small targets in RCS(Radar Cross Section). The transmission and reception antenna beam widths used in the simulated signal generating apparatus may be large, which may cause problems in the degree of isolation. Interference signal immunity and isolation characteristics are improved by considering operating conditions of VHF radar to solve isolation of antennas. Simulated signal generator performs the following: VHF radar transmission and reception correction, simulation signal generation, target Doppler, RCS and distance simulation, remote control, and GPS clock synchronization function. After the fabrication of the simulated signal generator, the main characteristics, such as the output characteristics and the reflection signal simulations, were tested. When the microwave radar assembly is completed in the future, it will be utilized for the performance evaluation of VHF radar.

  • AEA and ARIA are next generation standard block cipher of US and Korea, respectively, and these algorithms are used in various fields including smart cards, electronic passport, and etc. This paper addresses the first efficient unified hardware architecture of AES and ARIA, and shows the implementation results with 0.25um CMOS library. We designed shared S-boxes based on composite filed arithmetic for both algorithms, and also extracted common terms of the permutation matrices of both algorithms. With the $0.25-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology, our processor occupies 19,056 gate counts which is 32% decreased size from discrete implementations, and it uses 11 clock cycles and 16 cycles for AES and ARIA encryption, which shows 720 and 1,047 Mbps, respectively.

  • In this paper, an implementation method of RSA exponentiator based on Radix-$2^k$ modular multiplication algorithm is presented and verified. We use Booth receding algorithm to implement Radix-$2^k$ modular multiplication and implement radix-16 modular multiplier using 2K-byte memory and CSA(carry-save adder) array - with two full adder and three half adder delays. For high speed final addition we use a reduced carry generation and propagation scheme called pseudo carry look-ahead adder. Furthermore, the optimum value of the radix is presented through the trade-off between the operating frequency and the throughput for given Silicon technology. We have verified 1,024-bit RSA processor using Altera FPGA EP2K1500E device and Samsung 0.3$\mu\textrm{m}$ technology. In case of the radix-16 modular multiplication algorithm, (n+4+1)/4 clock cycles are needed and the 1,024-bit modular exponentiation is performed in 5.38ms at 50MHz.

  • Quantum-dot cellular automata(QCA) is a computing model designed to be similar to cellular automata, and an alternative technology for next generation using high performance and low power consumption. QCA is undergoing various studies with recent experimental results, and it is one of the paradigms of transistors that can solve device density and interconnection problems as nano-unit materials. An XOR gate is a gate that operates so that the result is true when either one of the logic is true. The proposed XOR gate consists of five layers. The first layer consists of OR gates, the third and fifth layers consist of AND gates, and the second and fourth layers are designed as passages in the middle. The half adder consists of an XOR gate and an AND gate. The proposed half adder is designed by adding two cells to the proposed XOR gate. The proposed half adder consists of fewer cells, total area, and clock than the conventional half adder.

  • A security SoC that can be used to implement elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) based public-key infrastructures was designed. The security SoC has an architecture in which a hardware accelerator for the elliptic curve digital signature algorithm (ECDSA) is interfaced with the Cortex-A53 CPU using the AXI4-Lite bus. The ECDSA hardware accelerator, which consists of a high-performance ECC processor, a SHA3 hash core, a true random number generator (TRNG), a modular multiplier, BRAM, and control FSM, was designed to perform the high-performance computation of ECDSA signature generation and signature verification with minimal CPU control. The security SoC was implemented in the Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC device to perform hardware-software co-verification, and it was evaluated that the ECDSA signature generation or signature verification can be achieved about 1,000 times per second at a clock frequency of 150 MHz. The ECDSA hardware accelerator was implemented using hardware resources of 74,630 LUTs, 23,356 flip-flops, 32kb BRAM, and 36 DSP blocks.

  • This paper proposes an efficient approach for hardware implementation of moving object detection (MOD) processor using effective Gaussian mixture learning (EGML)-based background subtraction method. Arithmetic units used in background generation were implemented using LUT-based approximation to reduce hardware complexity. Hardware resources used for both background subtraction and Gaussian probability density calculation were shared. The MOD processor was verified by FPGA-in-the-loop simulation using MATLAB/Simulink. The MOD performance was evaluated by using six types of video defined in IEEE CDW-2014 dataset, which resulted the average of recall value of 0.7700, the average of precision value of 0.7170, and the average of F-measure value of 0.7293. The MOD processor was implemented with 882 slices and block RAM of $146{\times}36kbits$ on Virtex5 FPGA, resulting in 60% hardware reduction compared to conventional design based on EGML. It was estimated that the MOD processor could operate with 75 MHz clock, resulting in real-time processing of $800{\times}600$ video with a frame rate of 39 fps.

  • GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) Position Accuracy depends on pseudo-range measurement and DOP (Dilution Of Precision) which indicates about navigation satellite geometry. Pseudo-Range has many error sources such as satellite clock, orbit, ionosphere, troposphere, multipath and so on. For the improvement of the accuracy, user can use corrected pseudo-range in DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System), which is one of the relative positioning methods. But, stationary station is needed in relative positioning. In case of DOP, Signal reception environment is important. If receiver sets in the center of city, it could be interrupted reception by buildings. This environment leads to decrease the number of visible satellites and to increase DOP. This paper proposes the concept of GNSS positioning with virtual satellites which have usable VRM (Virtual Range Measurement). Via virtual satellites and VRM, users could get an accurate position. Especially referred virtual satellites constellation has an effect on vertical error.

  • This paper introduces a high-speed Reed-Solomon(RS) decoder, which reduces the hardware complexity, and presents an RS decoder based FEC architecture which is used for 40Gb/s optical communication systems. We introduce new pipelined degree computationless modified Euclidean(pDCME) algorithm architecture, which has high throughput and low hardware complexity. The proposed 16 channel RS FEC architecture has two 8 channel RS FEC architectures, which has 8 syndrome computation block and shared single KES block. It can reduce the hardware complexity about 30% compared to the conventional 16 channel 3-parallel FEC architecture, which is 4 syndrome computation block and shared single KES block. The proposed RS FEC architecture has been designed and implemented with the $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology in a supply voltage of 1.8 V. The result show that total number of gate is 250K and it has a data processing rate of 5.1Gb/s at a clock frequency of 400MHz. The proposed area-efficient architecture can be readily applied to the next generation FEC devices for high-speed optical communications as well as wireless communications.

  • Discrete Wavelet Transform(DWT) is the oncoming generation of compression technique that has been selected for MPEG4 and JEPG2000, because it has no blocking effects and efficiently determines frequency property of temporary time. In this paper, we propose an efficient bit-serial architecture for the low-power and low-complexity DWT filter, employing two-channel QMF(Qudracture Mirror Filter) PR(Perfect Reconstruction) lattice filter. The filter consists of four lattices(filter length=8) and we determine the quantization bit for the coefficients by the fixed-length PSNR(peak-signal-to-noise ratio) analysis and propose the architecture of the bit-serial multiplier with the fixed coefficient. The CSD encoding for the coefficients is adopted to minimize the number of non-zero bits, thus reduces the hardware complexity. The proposed folded 1D DWT architecture processes the other resolution levels during idle periods by decimations and its efficient scheduling is proposed. The proposed architecture requires only flip-flops and full-adders. The proposed architecture has been designed and verified by VerilogHDL and synthesized by Synopsys Design Compiler with a Hynix 0.35$\mu$m STD cell library. The maximum operating frequency is 200MHz and the throughput is 175Mbps with 16 clock latencies.
