  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify clinical competence and to analyze influencing factors on clinical competence for second year college nursing students. Methods: The data were collected from 183 students by means of self reported questionnaires with clinical competence, satisfaction of clinical practice experience, critical thinking disposition, and self-directed learning, on June 18th 2007 and June 25th 2008. Results: The influencing factors on clinical competence of nursing students were satisfaction of clinical practice experience and critical thinking disposition. The more adaptable a student's major was, the higher the clinical competence and satisfaction of clinical practice experience. The score of self-directed learning was the highest in the well adapted group of a major. For clinical competence categories, the level of basic nursing was the highest followed by psychosocial nursing, patient education, nursing process, monitoring and patient physical assessment. The level of direct nursing care was the lowest among nursing students. Conclusion: In conclusion, results of this study suggest that constructing a cooperative system between colleges and educational hospitals, intensifying preceptors' and professors' clinical instruction, and developing a multimedia learning module and practice using simulators or standardized patient care is necessary to promote clinical competence of nursing students.

  • Nursing majors are a combination of theoretical and practical education, and since the advisor cannot participate in all practices in clinical practice, the efficiency and effectiveness of practical education are limited in judging the results according to students' reactions. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to analyze the domestic literature on the efficiency of clinical practice of nursing college students. The analysis target was selected through PRISMA flow, and the results were derived through categorization and questioning based on content analysis. Looking at the results, research related to the adaptation of trainees was mainstream, and specifically, research related to the characteristics, conflicts, clinical practice environment, and interpersonal anguish of trainees was conducted. In addition, it was confirmed that active and systematic intervention of practical guidance professors was required, such as possible safety accidents, emotional labor problems, and dilemmas during the practice period. Through this study, it is suggested that a systematic framework for nursing and clinical practice should be prepared.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of the learning environment on nursing students' clinical practice education and the violence experienced during clinical practice on vocational identity. Methods: The design of the study was a descriptive survey, and data were collected from November 15 to November 27, 2019. The data of the study were obtained from 515 nursing students attending three universities using self-administered questionnaires. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program. Results: For the experience of violence, verbal violence (98.3%) was the type most commonly experienced, and patients (97.7%) were the most frequent perpetrators. The clinical learning environment was perceived differently according to gender, personality, interpersonal relationship, satisfaction with nursing, clinical practice satisfaction, violence prevention education, the need for violence prevention education, sexual violence experiences, and violent perpetrators. The most influential factor on vocational identity was satisfaction with the nursing major (β=0.24, p<.001), followed by extroverted personality (β=0.18, p<.001), clinical learning environment (β=0.15, p=.001), satisfaction with clinical practice (β=0.15, p=.002), and the experience of violence by patients (β=-0.10, p=.016), which together explained 24.1% of the variance in the model. Conclusion: It is necessary to make efforts to ensure that students do not experience violence during clinical practice, to maintain a close cooperative relationship between university and clinical institutions to improve the learning environment for clinical practice, and to make the clinical field an educational learning environment.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was used. A survey was conducted from May 3 to May 10, 2022, on 200 nursing students who were in their junior and seneior years at two universities in Gyeongsangbuk-do. Descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffé's test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and hierarchical regression analysis were employed to analyze the data. Results: Major satisfaction was found to be significantly negatively correlated with verbal violence (r=-.30, p<.001) and clinical practice stress (r=-.15, p=.032) and to be positively correlated with coping with stress (r=.24, p<.001). Their satisfaction with clinical practice (β=.29, p=.037), verbal violence (β=-.23, p<.001), coping with stress (β=.16, p=.015), religion (β=.14, p=.041), and clinical practice stress (β =-.13, p=.048) explained 19.3% of the variance in nursing students' major satisfaction during clinical practice. Conclusion: A verbal violence and coping with stress program for nursing students should be developed to increase nursing students' major satisfaction during clinical practice.

Methods: The participants were 120 new nurses with 1 to 12 months of work experience at two tertiary hospitals in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The data were collected through an online questionnaire from February 6 to April 30, 2023. The collected data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS 25 program, and the independent t-test, Mann-Whitney U-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and a multiple regression analysis were performed. Results: The participants' nursing practice readiness was found to be positively correlated with their confidence in core nursing skill performance, satisfaction with clinical practice, satisfaction concerning simulation education, satisfaction regarding preceptorship, length of preceptorship and length of current unit placement. The regression analysis showed that the significant variables affecting nursing practice readiness were confidence in core nursing skill performance and satisfaction with clinical practice, and the explanatory power of the variables on nursing practice readiness was 36.0%. Conclusion: In order for newly graduated nurses to achieve nursing practice readiness, it is necessary to develop a nursing education program that can improve their confidence in core nursing skills performance and satisfaction with clinical practice in the nursing college curriculum and further research on the factors affecting nursing practice readiness is needed.
