A case of Dizziness patient classified into 'Yeolhoon' (열훈(熱暈) 환자(患者) 치험(治驗) 1례)

  • This is a case report about Dizziness patient classified into 'Yeolhoon(熱暈)' with 'Hyunghwangtang(荊黃湯)' prescription. Donguibogam(東醫寶鑑) says that taking a 'Hyunghwangtang' until one diarrhea, cures ‘Yeolhoon’ with flame and heat attacks a body, get thirsty. 'Hyunghwangtang' resulted from ‘Jangjahwabang(張子和方)’ is prescription that is based on ‘If disease is on the upper half of the body, treatment is done on the lower half of the body.’ We think that study and clinical examination about yeolhoon is considered, in the future.

  • Objective : To collect cosmetology text in Shang Han Za Bing Lun(伤寒杂病论), to analyze theory and prescription about cosmetology before HAN(漢) dynasty, so to allow records for modern cosmetology of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Method : Through the systematize for all terms about cosmetology, to reveal the regularity about cosmetology before HAN(漢) dynasty. Result : There were damage-appearance disease in HAN(漢) dynasty, there are lots of ideas about cosmetology in Shang Han Za Bing Lun(伤寒杂病论). Conclusion : Shang Han Za Bing Lun(伤寒杂病论) is a monograph about pattern identification and treatment, and is an important ancient book for research of cosmetology of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In the further, we will research in knowledge discovery about cosmetology of Traditional Chinese Medicine. to strengthen the guidance of the theory of Zhang Zhongjing(张仲景) for clinical practice of cosmetology of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

  • Objective : Atopic dermatitis is a chronic, inflammatory skin disease which was characterized by intense pruritus and the course marked by exacerbation and remission. The purpose of this study is to report the effect of oriental treatment. Especially new oriental prescription to atopic dermatitis Methods : We treated children patients who had atopic dermatitis and visited oriental hospital of Semyung University. Children patients in this case are two person. The first one is fourteen-years-old female, Other one is seven-years-old boy. And I create a new oriental prescription that named 'Allergy 1' thinking about oriental theory. After then I treated them with 'Allergy 1' herb medication and used two index to assess the severity in atopic dermatitis. Results : Each index show us approximately 70% improvement in atopic dermatitis symptom. Conclusion : On the basis of this cases, It may be considered that treatment of atopic dermatitis should be improved by the treatment of herb medication "Allergy 1"

  • In Traditional Oriental Medicine, there has been a growing needs for computerized diagnosis expert system, which can implement pre-diagnosis and correct the errors of practitioners. Therefore, we developed the expert system (KHU-PIPE : Kyung Hee University - Pattern Identification and Prescription Expert) for diagnosis and treatment. It has three characteristics as following. First. this system has the knowledge base which modified the standardized data designed by Chinese government during 1980s. Second, it provides the objective and standardized diagnosis as the results of pattern identification and their appropriate prescriptions for treatment. Third, it is applied to both LAN system and internet. Furthermore, it can be used as an educational methods for the practices of pattern identification and prescription, and provide the objective criteria for clinical studies and promote the Traditional Oriental Medicine as an evidence-based medicine.

  • The lastest date, increasing H. pylori infected gastric ulceration is indispensible with treatment of Herb medicines. Because the lesser side and the more cure rate are necessary on clinical treatment. Thus, recently herd medicines of Chinese medical treatment exhibit the method of prescription. Therefore, I think the various prescription will be applied to H. pylori infected gastric ulceration on foward.

Subclinical Hypothyroidism Treated by Means of Modified Er-Xian Decoction (불현성 갑상선기능저하증에 대한 이선탕 가미 처방 투여 경과 : 증례보고)

  • Objectives: This study is the first report on a case of subclinical hypothyroidism treated with Modified Er-Xian Decoction, which is rarely used in Korea. Methods: Patients were treated for 3 months with Modified Er-Xian Decoction and their therapeutic effects were evaluated through thyroid function tests and Spleen-Kidney deficiency Questionnaire. Results: Initial improvement was apparent after the administration of Modified Er-Xian Decoction. After 3 months of treatment, the patient 's Spleen-Kidney deficiency index improved significantly, and thyroid hormone levels returned to normal. Conclusions: In this case report, symptoms and biochemical improvement were confirmed based on a single herbal medicine prescription for subclinical hypothyroidism. It is necessary to verify the effect of this prescription through well - established clinical trials.

  • Objectives : This study aims to examine the 13 diagnostic criteria symptoms of panic disorder in Korean Medicine and to establish a literature basis for treating panic disorder in the clinical setting. Methods : Symptoms in Korean Medicine corresponding to each diagnostic criterion were comprehensively reviewed based on the Uihagimmun(醫學入門) and the Donguibogam(東醫寶鑑). Treatments were investigated as well. Results : According to Korean Medicine, panic disorder is believed to be caused by the stagnation of qi, leading to the retention of phlegm and fluids. Conclusions : Yijintang(二陳湯) can serve as a fundamental prescription for treating panic disorder, and it can be easily adapted to each patient's symptoms through modification of the ingredients.

A Study on the prescriptions including Gardenia fructus in Dongeuibogam (동의보감(東醫寶鑑) 중 치자(梔子)가 배오(配伍)된 방제(方劑)의 활용(活用)에 대한 고찰(考察))

  • Objectives : This report describes 241 prescriptions related to the use of Gardenia Fructus blended prescriptions from Dongeuibogam. Methods : The following conclusions were reached through investigations on the prescriptions that use Gardeniae Fructus. Results : The Gardeniae Fructus is used in 49 fields of treatment such as urinary diseases, jaundice and furuncle, etc. Prescriptions that utilize Gardeniae Fructus are used in the treatment of fever, eye disease, hemorrhage, skin disease, ear disease, internal disease and so on. In the view of the causative agent of a disease, the prescriptions which are compounded with Gardeniae Fructus are related to endogenous agents such as jaundice, seven emotion, alcohol, exogenous agents such as cold, wind, heat and non-endo-exopathogenic factors like disease due to external factor, injury. The dosage of Gardeniae Fructus is 1pun(about 0.375) to 5don 5pun(about 21g), however 5pun(about 1.87g)~1don(about 3.75g) has been taken the most for clinical application. Conclusions : Hwangryunhaedok-tang is the most base prescriptions which use the Gardenia Fructus. Gardeniae Fructus is mainly used as a raw material.

A Study on the Recognition and Actual Condition of Korea Medical Doctors in Oriental Medical Care of Hypertension (국내 임상한의사의 고혈압 한방치료 인식 및 실태조사)

  • Objectives : The study was accomplished to find out how korean medical doctor take oriental medical service for hypertension patients in clinical practice Methods : Survey questions were developed based on consensus of 2 clinician, 2 oriental internal medicine specialist and 1 acupuncture specialist. The list of the Korean oriental medical doctors is provided by the Association of the Korean Oriental Medicine. The questionnaire were distributed via E-mail to 9,465 members of Korean oriental medical doctors from 19th August 2008 to 11th September 2008. One thousand sixty three(11.24% of 9,465) members completed answer and the computerized data were analyzed by SAS statistical program Results : Fifty-one percent of Korean oriental medical doctors has experienced hypertension treatment. The most common medical diagnosis method was pattern diagnosis(64.2%). Saam and five element acupuncture were as frequent as 32.3% of acupuncture prescription principle. The most common acupuncture points were region of shoulder and back acupoints inclued $GB_{21}$, $GV_{14}$(25%). The most common herbs prescription principle were 'constitution prescription'(35.4%), 'pattern prescription'(12.6%). The most common opinion for the revitalization of oriental medical service were 'medical insurance system of herbal medicine'(28.8%) and 'research of oriental medical treatments in hypertensive patients'(26.8%). Conclusions : This survey provides unique insight into the perception, treatment method of the Korea medical doctor at oriental medical service for hypertension patient. This study provides a wealth of information and a fresh raft of questions which will inform future research and policy-making.

Study of Insamyangyung-tang in Hyungsang Medicine (인삼양영탕의 문헌고찰과 형상의학적 치료)

  • The following conclusions are drawn, through studying of referring literature, of contents of the prescription and of clinical applications in Hyungsang Medicine. Insamyangyung-tang(인삼양영탕) was appeared first in Taepunghyemin-whajegugbang(태평혜민화제국방) which was written by Jin and others at Song Dynasty. This prescription is applied to senility and long lasting weakness, little strength of spleen and lung(비폐기허), and insufficiency of blood. The Insamyangyung-tang is composed of medical stuffs which Rhizoma Cnidii is taken out from Sipjiendaebotang and Pericarpium Citri Nobilis, Fructus Schizandrae, Radix Polygalae are added to it. This prescription is used in China up to the present. In korea, according to Donguibogam, Rhizoma Cnidii and Poria are taken out from Sipjiendaebotang and Pericarpium Citri Nobilis, Fructus Schizandrae, Radix Polygalae are added to it, and Ramulus Cinnamomi is changed to Cortex Cinnamomi, and also Radix Ledebouriellae is newly added to it. This is reorganized to fit for Korean physical conditions and to be useful for deficiency of blood, and also to be efficacious for coming and going of chillness and fever and running with sweat due to weakness of Liver. In the point of view of Hyunsang medicine, Insamyangyung-tang is applied to shapes and symptoms as follows : This prescription becomes more efficacious to women than to men. At the age of fifties when liver grows weak it effects a cure. It takes effect to the shape of going easily into the deficiency of blood, that is, to the Hyul Kwa with an oval face. It effects a cure on the man who has wrinkles on the bridge of the nose, who has marks of being choked up on the central area between two brows, or who has distinctive size of eyes and nose. It is efficacious against symptoms which are to be exhausted, to be weak, to lose flesh, to be coming and going of chillness and fever and running with sweat.
