  • The amount of Meta-data to be managed increases with development of information technology. However, when trying to integrate and share product information of heterogeneous systems within or between companies, sharing of information is impossible if product information classification systems are different. Due to the situation mentioned above, engineers judge the product information classification system and maps corresponding Meta-data for document-based sharing. Judging exponentially increasing amount of data by engineers and sharing product information using documents create great amount of time delay and errors in data handling. Therefore, construction of a system for integrated management and interoperability between product information based on semantic information similar to engineer's judgment is required. This paper proposes a methodology and necessity of a system for interoperability of product information based on semantic web, and also designs a system to integrate heterogeneous systems with different product information using rule based reasoning. This paper also suggests a system base for interoperability and integration of product information between heterogeneous systems by integrating the product information classification system semantically.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new design methodology of a pattern classification rule based on the local linear discriminant analysis expanded from the generic linear discriminant analysis which is used in the local area divided from the whole input space. There are two ways such as k-Means clustering method and the differential evolutionary algorithm to partition the whole input space into the several local areas. K-Means clustering method is the one of the unsupervised clustering methods and the differential evolutionary algorithm is the one of the optimization algorithms. In addition, the experimental application covers a comparative analysis including several previously commonly encountered methods.

  • With the development of the internet and computer technology, the amount of information through the internet is increasing rapidly and it is managed in document form. For this reason, the research into the method to manage for a large amount of document in an effective way is necessary. The conventional document categorization method used only the keywords of related documents for document classification. However, this paper proposed keyword extraction method of based on association rule. This method extracts a set of related keywords which are involved in document's category and classifies representative keyword by using the classification rule proposed in this paper. In addition, this paper proposed the preprocessing method for efficient keywords creation and predicted the new document's category. We can design the classifier and measure the performance throughout the experiment to increase the profile's classification performance. When predicting the category, substituting all the classification rules one by one is the major reason to decrease the process performance in a profile. Finally, this paper suggested automatically categorizing plan which can be applied to hierarchical category architecture, extended from simple category architecture.

  • Objectives: In order to establish a base for proper treatment and management of patients with dermal problems through correct diagnosis, I considered the naming rule for dermatology in Oriental Medicine, referring to the dermatology literature compared to western medicine. In addition, this paper examines the characteristic classification of dermatology. Methods: I examined the naming rule of dermatology in Oriental Medicine and then compared the disease names in Oriental and Western medicine and the characteristic classification of dermatology referred to the records. Results: The dermal diseases have been named according to their colors and morphologies, causes, progress of symptoms, recurrent sites, the character of distribution, recurrent seasons, ages, the character of patients' jobs and locations. Sometimes some have been named by referring to their main morphologies, sites, causes, colors and seasons synthetically. However it was found some names for dermal diseases, even though the same diseases, had been named differently according to for example: historical times, condition of locations and the quality of doctors whose process of naming developed and changed over time. The relationship between Oriental and Western medicine of each name for dermal diseases is basically divided into 5 types: same names - same diseases; same names but different diseases; same diseases but different names; one disease with multiple names; and one name with multiple diseases. Considering the methods of classification, these were generally achieved according to their places of origin. It is a method unique to Oriental medicine that we classified some dermal diseases into 疥, 癬, 瘡, 風, 丹, 疱, 疹, 癰, 痘, 疽 and so on and it is very easy to diagnose which part they belong to. This was classified by putting first the causes of diseases; for instance: viruses, bacteria, fungi. Sometimes, however there was a problem, connected to the classification of morphology. Conclusions: I suggest that we need to unify and refine dermatological terms in Oriental Medicine in order to establish a base for proper treatment and management of patients with dermal problems through correct diagnoses.

  • Our interest is to access in some way teh relative odds or probability that a multivariate observation Z belongs to one of k multivariate normal populations with unequal covariance matrices. We derived the empirical Bayes posterior odds ratio for the classification rule when population parameters are unknown. It is a generalization of the posterior odds ratio suggested by Gelsser (1964). The classification rule does not have complicated distribution theory which a large variety of techniques from the sampling viewpoint have. The proposed posterior odds ratio is compared to the Gelsser's posterior odds ratio through a Monte Carlo study. The results show that the empiricla Bayes posterior odds ratio, in general, performs better than the Gelsser's. Especially, for large dimension of Z and small training sample, the performance is prominent.

  • This study suggests new approach to identify core technologies through patent analysis. Specially, the approach applied data mining technique and multi-criteria decision making method to the co-classification information of registered patents. First, technological interrelationship matrices of intensity, relatedness, and cross-impact perspectives are constructed with support, lift and confidence values calculated by conducting an association rule mining on the co-classification information of patent data. Second, the analytic network process is applied to the constructed technological interrelationship matrices in order to produce the importance values of technologies from each perspective. Finally, data envelopment analysis is employed to the derived importance values in order to identify priorities of technologies, putting three perspectives together. It is expected that suggested approach could help technology planners to formulate strategy and policy for technological innovation.

  • Geographic features are reflected in satellite images, which contain characteristic elements. Information on changes can be obtained through a comparison of images taken at different times. If multi-temporal images can be classified through the use of an unsupervised method, this is likely to improve the accuracy of image classification and contribute to various applications. A rule-based image classification algorithm for automatic processing without human involvement has been developed, but it must be verified that its results are not affected by imperfect elements. In this study, Landsat images of Jeju Island were used to carry out a rule-based image classification. The application results were examined for complex cases, including the presence of clouds in the images, different photographed times, and the type of target area, such as city, mountain, or field. The presence of clouds did not affect calculations, and appropriate classification rules were applied, depending on the different photographed times. The expansion of the urban areas of Jeju and the increase of facilities such as vinyl greenhouses in Seoguipo were identified. Furthermore, space information changes and accurate classifications for Jeju Island were obtained. With the goal of performing high-quality unsupervised classifications, measures to generalize and improve the methods employed were searched for. The findings of this study could be used in time-series analyses of images for various applications, including urban development and environmental change monitoring.

  • In case of traditional Rule-Based Reasoning(RBR) and Case-Based Reasoning(CBR), although knowledge is reasoned either by one of them or by the integration of RBR and CBR, there is a problem that much time should be consumed by numerous rules and cases. In order to improve this time-consuming problem, in this paper, a new type of reasoning technique, which is a kind of integration of reduced RB and CB, is to be introduced. Such a new type of reasoning uses Rough Set, by which we can represent multi-meaning and/or random knowledge easily. In Rough Set, solution is to be obtained by its own complementary rules, using the process of RB and CB into equivalence class by the classification and approximation of Rough Set. and then using reduced RB and CB through the integrated reasoning.

  • As e-mail is becoming increasingly important in every day life activity, mail users spend more and more time organizing and classifying the e-mails they receive into folder. Many existing recommendation systems or text classification are mostly focused on recommending the products for the commercial purposes or web documents. So this study aims to apply these application to e-mail more necessary to users. This paper suggests a dynamic recommendation agent system based on Rule Filtering Component recommending the relevant category to enable users directly to manage the optimum classification when a new e-mail is received as the effective method for E-Mail Management. Moreover we try to improve the accuracy as eliminating the limits of misclassification that can be key in classifying e-mails by category. While the existing Bayesian Learning Algorithm mostly uses the fixed threshold, we prove to improve the satisfaction of users as increasing the accuracy by changing the fixed threshold to the dynamic threshold. We designed main modules by rule filtering component for enhanced scalability and reusability of our system.

  • General-purpose classification scheme encompasses all subject areas, While the whole classification scheme is constructed by library studies experts, structure and preparation of each specific subject area's classification should be referenced to that specific subject. In order for the whole system to be practical and useful classification scheme, not just a simple collection of each subject area's scheme, it is necessary to set the rule for properly distributing the amount of classification items, and the collections assigned to these items. The rule to set the distribution of items based on the amount of document collections is called 'literary warrant'. This study examines actual status of assignment of each classification items to information resources, as a result of application of Korean Decimal Classification, and then suggests a way to improve these practices.
