빙해선박 강재의 저온 소성경화 구성방정식 (Low Temperature Plastic Hardening Constitutive Equation for Steels of Polar Class Vessels)

  • In this study, a plastic hardening constitutive equation for steels of polar class vessels at low temperature is proposed. The equation was derived using the experimental data obtained from tensile tests at room and low temperatures. Tensile tests at low temperature are both costly and time consuming because an expensive cold chamber is necessary and it takes too much time to cool down a specimen to set temperature. Using the proposed plastic hardening constitutive equation the plastic hardening characteristics of steels for polar class vessels at low temperature can be easily predicted from the tensile test results at room temperature.

Pasquill 安定度階級의 評價와 安定度 Parameter 測定方法의 開發 (Evaluation of Pasquill Stability Class with Monin-Obukhov Length and Estimation Scheme of Stability Parameter)

  • Pasquill stability class (PSC) was evaluated with Monin-Obukhov length (L) using the data observed at a height of 213m meteorological tower in Tsukuba, Japan. PSC was determined with wind speed and insolation (net radiation at night), and L was calculated with the heat flux and the friction velocity obtained at 25m by the eddy correlation method. To evaluate PSC with L, for every class of Pasquill stability (from A to F class), percentiles and median of L were used. Results show that for every class of Pasquill stability, L varies so widely that PSC does not adequately represent the atmospheric stability conditions. The scheme which estimates L using air temperature at two levels and wind speed at single level was developed. Comparison between estimated L by the scheme and observed L reveals that the scheme is better than PSC. Furthermore, the scheme is more advantageous than PSC because it uses air temperature at two levels instead of insolation which is more difficult to observe in the field than air temperature.

횡충격하중을 받는 빙해선박 구조물의 파단에 관한 연구 (On the Fracture of Polar Class Vessel Structures Subjected to Lateral Impact Loads)

  • Single frame structures with notches were fractured by applying drop impact loadings at room temperature and low temperature. Johnson-Cook shear failure model has been employed to simulate the fractured single frame structures. Through several numerical analyses, material constants for Johnson-Cook shear failure model have been found producing the cracks resulted from experiments. Fracture strain-stress triaxiality curves at both room temperature and low temperature are presented based on the extracted material constants. It is expected that the fracture strain-stress triaxiality curves can offer objective fracture criteria for the assessment of structural fractures of polar class vessel structures fabricated from DH36 steels. The fracture experiments of single frame structures revealed that the structure on low temperature condition fractures at much lower strain than that on room temperature condition despite the same stress states at both temperatures. In conclusion, the material properties on low temperature condition are essential to estimate the fracture characteristics of steel structures operated in the Northern Sea Route.

VHTR 초고온기기 설계특성 분석 (Design Characteristics Analysis for Very High Temperature Reactor Components)

  • The operating temperature of VHTR components is much higher than that of conventional PWR due to high core outlet temperature of VHTR. Material requirements and technical issues of VHTR reactor components which are mainly dominated by high temperature service condition were discussed. The codification effort for high temperature material and design methodology are explained. The design class for VHTR components are classified as class A or B according to the recent ASME high temperature reactor design code. A separation of thermal boundary and pressure boundary is used for VHTR components as an elevated design solution. Key design characteristics for reactor pressure vessel, control rod, reactor internals, graphite reflector, circulator and intermediate heat exchanger were analysed. Thermo-mechanical analysis of the process heat exchanger, which was manufactured for test, is presented as an analysis example.

  • The effects of temperature on the structural behavior of polar class vessels have been experimentally and numerically investigated. Experiments were carried out on single frame structures made of steel material, DH36, which is used for outer shell of the vessels making transit through the polar region. A knife edge type striker was dropped down onto single frame structures. The temperatures of the single frames were set to $-30^{\circ}C$, $-50^{\circ}C$ and room temperature. The deflection around the mid-point of the single frame was measured and numerically simulated using finite element model. Strain rate effect on the structural behavior has been investigated and turned out that the strain rate effect can be neglected. From the results of the experiment and numerical analyses, it has been noticed that the permanent deflection at lower temperature was reduced due to a temperature hardening of material as expected.

  • In this study, the electrical characteristics of 100V -Class LDMOSFET for high temperature applications such as electronic control systems of automobiles and motor driver were investigated. Measurement data are taken over wide range of temperature(300K-500K) and various drift region length(6.6$\mu\textrm{m}$-12.6$\mu\textrm{m}$). In high temperature condition(>450K), drain current decreased over 50%, and specific on-resistance increased about twice in comparison with room temperature. Moreover the ratio R$\sub$on//BV, a figure of merit of the device, increased with increasing temperature.

  • KEPRI has studied anode-supported planar SOFCs and kW class stacks operated at intermediate temperature for development of a combined heat and power unit. A single cell composed of Ni-YSZ/FL/ScSZ/LSCF showed the maximum power density of 0.55 W/$cm^2$ at $650^{\circ}C$ and 1.8 W/$cm^2$ at $750^{\circ}C$. With 37 cells of 10${\times}10cm^2$ and stainless steel interconnects, a 1kW class SOFC stack was manufactured. When a 1kW class SOFC system was operated at $750^{\circ}C$ with city gas, it showed the power output of 1.3 kWe at 50 A. It also recuperated heat of 0.57-1.2 kWth according to the loaded current through combustion of unreacted anode off-gas. Recently, KEPRI is developing a new kW class SOFC stack and system to increase efficiency and durability at intermediate temperature.

2.2 kW와 3.7 kW 유도전동기의 정상과 구속운전에 따른 전류 및 온도 특성 (Characteristic of Current and Temperature according to Normal and Abnormal Operations at Induction Motor of 2.2 kW and 3.7 kW)

  • This study analyzed the current and temperature characteristics of major components of an induction motor during normal and abnormal operations as functions of the difference in the rated capacities of medium and large-sized motors widely used in industrial settings. The temperature rise equation of the induction motor winding was derived through locked-rotor operation experiments and linear regression analysis. When the ambient temperature is 40 ℃, the time to reach 155 ℃, the temperature limit of the insulation class (F class) of the winding of the induction motor, was confirmed to be 48 seconds for the 2.2 kW induction motor and 39 seconds for the 3.7 kW induction motor. This means that when the rated capacity is large or the installation environment is high temperature, the time to reach the temperature limit of the insulation class during locked-rotor operation is short, and the risk of insulation deterioration and fire is high. In addition, even if the EOCR (Electronic Over Current Relay) is installed, if the setting time is excessively set, the EOCR does not operate even if the normal and locked-rotor operation of the induction motor is repeated, and the temperature limit of the insulation grade of the winding of the induction motor is exceeded. The results of this study can be used for preventive measures such as the promotion of electrical and mechanical measures for the failure of induction motors and fire prevention in industrial sites, or the installation of fire alarm systems.

밀봉선원의 성능시험을 위한 장치 개발 및 적용 (Development and Application of Test Apparatus for Classification of Sealed Source)

  • 밀봉선원은 과학기술부고시에 의거하여 사용용도별로 등급에 따라 해당 성능시험을 수행하고, 각 성능시험을 거친 후 해당 방사성핵종의 방사능 누설량이 200베크렐을 초과하지 아니하여야 한다. 이러한 성능시험은 온도시험, 의부압력시험, 충격시험, 진동시험 및 관통시험으로 구성되어 있으며 등급에 따라서 각 성능시험의 조건이 각각 다르다. 본 연구에서는 진동시험을 제외한 성능시험을 위한 장치를 개발하고 이를 세 가지 종류의 밀봉선원의 성능시험에 적용하였다. 의료용 근접치료기에 사용되는 근접치료기용 선원은 5등급의 온도시험, 3등급의 외압시험, 2등급의 충격시험을 수행하여 'C53211' 등급의 기준에 적합함을 보였다. 산업용 조사기에 사용되는 $^{75}Se$$^{169}Yb$ 선원에 대하여 4등급의 온도시험, 3등급의 외압시험, 5등급의 충격시험과 관통시험을 실시하여 'C43515' 등급의 기준에 적합함을 입증하였다.

Research and Development of Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage system(SMES)

  • This paper describes a collaborative work between SEI and KEPCO on the Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage system (SMES). We have studied two types of magnets. One is the 400kJ class LTS-SMES for testing the power stabilization operated at liquid helium temperature (4.2K) and the other is the 100J class HTS-SMES for confirming the possibility of applying HTS wire to SMES at liquid nitrogen temperature (77k). In this paper, the design of the magnet and the test results are described. Each magnet performed completely at rated operation.
