  • Elementary School is a special facility where sense of place plays critical role for the development of children. Children in special education call for special attention as they hold inferior status compared to the children in regular class especially under the inclusive education policy. Eight cases of special education class area are analyzed in terms of social space, personal space and favorite place which is known to be basic factor for the development. As a result outdoor space found to be designed inappropriate even when designed accessible to the special education class as it could not meet the developmental needs of children in special education. Special education class area inside the building is also found to be too exclusive to allow social mix with children in regular class disregarding the intention of inclusive education. Location of these class should be strategic as it is critical to be linked with regular classroom efficiently still allowing psychological buffer as the children in special education tend to form restorative space inside the special education classroom showing the possibility of creating sense of place there.

  • The present study was intended to investigate ecological characteristics of poverty areas in Seoul from the perspectives of children's development. More specifically, the objectives of the study are to examine environmental ecology of the poverty areas and it's potential psycho-social development of children. Three poverty areas and 150 children currently living in the are as were sampled ; 70 children from middle class families and 88 from lower class respectively. Focal ecological aspects surveyed family environment, outdoor play ground and facilities, and village housing structures. Psycho-social dimension's development dealt with in the study included children's perceptions of parental child rearing practices and role taking, and children's future perception and perspectives. Data were collected through interviews and observations using structured formats. Following results were obtained from the data : 1. Children from the poverty families showed a higher tendency to have working mothers than those from middle class. 2. The rate of having single room is higher for children from middle class by two times than from lower class. 3. Children from lower class tended to have less favorable perceptions of attitudes tote and their own families than those from middle class. 4. The likelihood of showing discrepancy in vocational choice for children between parents and children is higher for children from lower class and those from middle class. 5. Children from lower class tended to allot more time in playing with peers than those from middle class. 6. The size of outdoor play ground are inadequately poor both for middle and lower class children. The inadequateness is particularly severe for the lower class children, showing that the size and facilities of playing ground available for the child from lower class is less than half compared with those of the children from middle class.

  • Public utilities adopt the grounding rules ; class I, class II, class III and special class III, and install the grounding electrodes in distribution facilities. To keep the safety of the human and the facilities, Public utilities also manage the value of ground resistance in distribution system biennially. At present the Hook-On meter is normally used to measure the ground resistance although it has ${\pm}5[%]$ measuring error and it can not measure the exact value when the current is over 1[A]. In addition it is very difficult to use the fall-of-potential method in distribution system. In this paper we propose the new measurement method using ground current of distribution system as the current source.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate perception of primary school teachers about operation of after-school computer class. Research questions were set up as follows: First, what type is preferred on the operation type for after-school computer class? Second, what is the perception about the adequacy of contents for after-school computer class? Third, what is the perception about instructors' expertise? Fourth, what is the perception about the effects of after-school computer class? Finally, what is the perception about facilities/ equipment and evaluation system of after-school computer class? To figure out these questions, this study conducted literature review and questionnaire survey. The results of this study are as follows: First, approximately 82% of respondents preferred to have after-school computer class operated by outsourced agency. Second, overall, the perceptions about the operation of after-school computer class were positive: The adequacy of contents, instructors' expertise, the effects, facilities/ equipment and evaluation system are seen as mostly positive. Third, its differences between school self-operated computer class and private sector computer class were insignificant. Fourth, its differences among various sizes of the school were significant. The implementaion of after-school computer class was considered as more positive in small schools. Finally, researchers suggested that it was necessary to develop an plan considering school sizes for more efficient implementation of after-school computer class.

  • Facilities with high risk of a disaster or requiring continuous safety management are designated as class-III facility. In order to designate a class-III facility, it is evaluated based on the safety status of the facility, the risk to the building users, and the number of years elapsed of the facility, etc. and this shall be referred to the actual condition survey for the designation of a class-III facility. In the actual condition survey conducted to designate the safety status is calculated by the checklist based on the evaluation scores consisting of five stages each item, and is evaluated in three stages by 'good', 'careful observation', and 'designated review' through the average of the combined scores. Currently, the actual condition survey being conducted applies only structural stability, and the risk factors such as damage to the finish, the risk of cracking, and the type and weight of major structures are not included in the checklist for the actual condition survey, so even if experts think it is dangerous, scores cannot be reflected. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the problems of checklist of the actual condition survey for the designation of class-III facility and to propose an improvement plan for the checklist for the actual condition survey.
