  • This study focuses on the criteria for lessons that develop secondary students' creativity and character in mathematics classes. Literature used in this study is related to the future direction of education (e.g., Core competencies, Information and Communication Technology, Constructivism education) and intent of the revised mathematics curriculum. Lesson criteria for developing students' creativity and character include educational content associated with the real-world contexts, use of tools and resources, active participation and interaction, problem-solving skills, teachers' attitudes, and the classroom environment. This study suggests ways to implement mathematics lessons that build students' creativity and character.

  • This study aimed to examine the possibility of remodeled nursing home utilizing a closed school in Kunsan, where the number of closed schools increases and the ratio of elderly population grows. Major contents of research were understanding architectural characteristics of closed school and elderly housing in the sample area, and a suggestion of remodeling a closed school into nursing home. Conclusions can be summarized as follows; understanding the high ratio of elderly population and increases of closed schools in sample area, verification of overall possibility in remodeling a closed school into elderly facility, confirmation of availability in changing regular class room to residential rooms, and some proposals of principal points in floor planning - homelike atmosphere by small scaled residential units(10 persons), spatial hierarchy for residents' mental comfort, sliding door for accessibility, kitchen and dining space in residential unit for the residents' participation in houseworks.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between selected components of conceptual ecology that are reflected in high school science students' statements, when answering questions. This study follows from a position that there is reason to believe that, in the process of answering questions, many aspects of conceptual ecology are likely to play a role. Data were gathered through six audio-taped interviews, the science teacher's profiles of each student, the students' personal journals, their assignments, and their examinations and participation in class. Kay and KY were selected as the focus of this study because theirs were both dramatic as well as representative cases. As the findings suggest, learning styles differ according to distinctions within individuals' conceptual ecologies. Thus the way in which a person learns science varies according to the construction of her/his conceptual ecology. This suggests that different forms of pedagogy may be effective with different types of learners. This also suggests that science educators may have a role in assisting students to develop into constructed, rather than received, learners.

  • The present study investigated the parent's educational views according to sex, age, educational level of parent, and social class. The study also examined parent's educational views resulting from participation of parent education and the types of parent education of marital partner. The subjects were consisted of 162 couples(324 persons) whose children were attending elementary school in Seoul. The instrument was "A tools of Parent's Educational Views Measurement". The major findings are: 1. Parent's educational views showed a tendency to be adult oriented rather than child centered regardless of parent's sex and age. However, the higher parent's education and SES are, the more child oriented views are. 2. Mothers who had participated in the specialized parent education were found to be child oriented educational views. 3. The fathers whose wives participated in the specilized parent education showed the child oriented educational views, probably because of mothers' influence on fathers' educational views.

  • Teaching and learning mathematics in a classroom setting is based on the interactions between the teacher and her students. Using classroom observations and interviews of students and the teacher, this research examines a first-year teacher and her students' interactions in the mathematics classroom. In this mathematics classroom, teacher and students interaction had inconsistency between mathematical topics and non-mathematical topics. For non-mathematical topics, their interactions were very active but for mathematical topics their interactions were very limited. This paper ends with raising questions for future research and calling for the opportunities for first-year teachers to reflect on their interactions with their students, in particular about mathematical topics.

  • This study explored the contribution of mother's representation of her mother and father during early years, marital satisfaction, and husband's participation in child caring to mothers' parenting behaviors. The subjects were 253 middle-class mothers and fathers in Seoul who had 2-to 3-year-old children. The data were gathered through questionnaires developed for the current study. As predicted, marital satisfaction and husband support as well as early family experiences were significant variables in predicting positive mothering for mothers of young children. However, the most powerful predictor of mothers' parenting turned out to be marital satisfaction. It was noteworthy that mothers who experienced positive and secure relationships with their own mothers were actively involved/intimate with their children whereas mothers who had insecure relationships with their own fathers showed more authoritarian control over their children.

For the statistics analysis of this study, frequency, mean, Cronbach's a coefficient, ANOVQ, t-test, Pearson'correlation and multiple regression were calculated. The results of this study are summarized as follows ; 1. It is appeared that middle school student's application of Home Economics course are the food, human development and family relationship family, resources management and the consuming, the clothing. 2. Variables that affect middle school student's application of Home Economics course are the vocation of father, way of learning about home life skill, agreement with educational goal of Home Economic, evaluation of Home Economic teacher, evaluation of education field, participation in class of Home Economic and needs for Home Economics. 3. • For evaluating participation in collaboration project, the peer assement method is mostly used and various scoring methods have been proposed. But, the reliability and validity of the peer assessment method are still doubted for all most method. In order to overcome these weaknesss, some guidelines and training methods have been recommended. In this article, however, statistical technique is proposed for measuring individual contributions to collaboration projects considering each assessor's reliability. The gist of our proposed algorithm is that an assessor's reliability depends on the evaluation policy, and this reliability is evaluated by an analysis of variance of the scores assigned by the assessor. We also show that the proposed method is very efficient by case study in university class.

  • Education in Korean universities is rapidly expanding to online education due to COVID-19. In response to such changes, this study proposed a means of improving the learning management system of Korean universities and analyzed the effects of using the system. The important results of this study are as follows: the learning management system was composed of 'pre-class learning,' 'team activity,' and 'participation learning' to support team-based learning. The effects that the users (instructors, learners) can obtain by adopting team-based learning and using the system were analyzed. The study concludes that for instructors, teaching work may be alleviated. For learners, it was demonstrated that they could more easily access and use data required for their education.
