Establishing Traffic Speed Limits Standard and Accident Risk Analysis of Truck (화물차량의 사고위험도 분석 및 통행속도 제한기준 정립)

  • This paper presents the traffic speed limit of heavy vehicles at each wind velocity region, which is based on their accident risk analysis under cross-wind. The variables for the accident risk analysis are overall height, overall length, intake weight, and friction coefficient of the road surface. It was confirmed from analysis results that the risk of overturning increased with higher overall height and length, and the risk of sliding decreased with higher intake weight. The risk of sliding was largest at the friction coefficient of 0.1, and the risk of overturning was lagest at friction coefficient more than 0.25. Finally, traffic speed limit was proposed by using the accident risk analysis.

  • We have analyzed the stability for cut-slopes at main street 3-2 line section in Pa-ju local industrial complex. After studying an additional boring test, laboratory test and face mapping etc., we have determined the extent of reinforcement, slope inclinations and soil strength parameter from the analysis of test results. After changing the inclination of slopes for ground limit and carrying out the analysis of slope stability, we applied the Mass Nailing Method to the site because of need for reinforcement to soil and weathered rock slopes. In slope for soft and hard rock sections, we also reinforced the sections that are difficult to obtain the safety without reinforcement in alteration zone.

  • The high pressure jet grouting method is mainly used in the grouting. But, this method has problems that the scale and strength of improved body is not constant with ground condition. Considering these problems, triple rod MJM that results in the high-strength effect by the technology of the injected ${\phi}7mm$ cement mortar was developed. In this MJM, the unconfined strength is estimated with the various combination ratio and engineering characteristic, strength improvement effect of improved body, was checked through the field test. It is known that the application of MJM was verified with ground and construction condition.

  • In this study, the shaft resistance of drilled shafts socketed into weathered-and soft-rocks was examined by the constant normal stiffness(CNS) test. Large scale model tests were performed for different unconfined compressive strength, socket roughness, initial normal stress, and normal stiffness for identifying shear load transfer characteristics. Through comparisons with previous studies, it is found that the results by the present approach is good agreement with the general trend observed by existing empirical and analytical results.

  • This paper presents on the structural behavior of the the methyl methacrylate monomer (MMA) double wide flanged the glass fiber-reinforced polymer(GFRP) pipe composite structures for the manhole raise. The evaluation of structural performance on this composite structure was conducted by the axial load, fatigue load, and ultimate load test. The assessment indicates that the MMA double wide flanged GFRP pipe composite structures was confirmed safety, durability and reliability in result as expected. It was found that this composite structure was able to short working times to around 30-50% and construction costs to around 10-23% with compare other construction methods. Also, environmental pollution and civil complaints will be prevented because there will be no longer any noises, vibrations, dust, or construction wastes.

  • This paper introduces a digital image processing(DIP) method as a method for measuring the displacement of pylon. The comparison of DIP results and ANSYS analysis results verified the validity of the image processing technique. Normalized cross-correlation(NCC) coefficient was used and experiments were performed three times. It shows that the displacement difference was 22% and 5% compared to ANSYS results. Therefore, the image processing method is expected to be able to measure the displacement of pylon sufficiently.

  • It is well known that the thermal load in PSC(prestressed concrete) box-girder bridge is the principal cause of detrimental crack. The longitudinal stress caused by the lateral stress from the temperature gradient in slab of PSC box-girder bridge has a considerable influence on the durability and economy of bridge structures. As the basic study for the rational consideration of thermal load and the derivation of design guide, the inverse thermal analysis program for PSC box-girder bridges using field measurement data is developed. In this paper, thermal analyses are performed using field monitoring data for the sample PSC box-girder bridge. It is proposed that the link between monitoring program and the inverse analysis program is available.

Stress-Strain Properties of Geosynthetics by Confined Extension Tests (구속신장시험에 의한 토목섬유의 인장력-변형률거동 특성)

  • In this study. stress-strain relationships were investigated by performing the confined extension tests for seven types of geosynthetics such as geotextiles, composite geosynthetics and geogrids. A comparison was made between unconfined and confined moduli for each geosynthetic material to quantify the soil confinement effect on stress-strain properties. A comparison was also made between the increase of moduli at the same strain level with the types of the geosynthetics to demonstrate the different stress-strain responses. Based on the result of the extension tests, the higher the confining stress, the larger the secant modulus of geosynthetics. The secant modulus at 5% strain is twice as much as that of 10% strain, especially there is a noticeable increasing of secant modulus for the two nonwoven geotextiles.

  • Life Cycle Cost analysis technique is introduced to evaluate cost-effectiveness of two paint systems of steel bridges. The systems are a conventional paint system and a galvanized paint system. The all costs during safe lift such as initial cost repainting costs, disposal costs are considered for the lift cycle cost analysis. The NIST model is used and BridgeLCC 1.0 developed by the NST is utilized as the lift cycle cost analysis tool. It is concluded that, in spite of expensive initial cost, the durable paint system may be cost-effective compared with conventional paint system.
