Performance analysis of satellite and terrestrial spectrum-shared networks with directional antenna

  • Recently, to make the best use of limited and precious spectrum resources, spectrum sharing between satellite and cellular networks has received much interest. In this study, we mathematically analyze the success probability of a fixed (satellite) earth station (FES) based on a stochastic geometry framework. Both the FES and base stations (BSs) are assumed to be equipped with a directional antenna, and the location and the number of BSs are modeled based on the Poisson point process. Furthermore, an exclusion zone is considered, in which the BSs are prohibited from locating in a circular zone with a certain radius around the FES to protect it from severe interference from the cellular BSs. We validate the analytical results on the success probability of the cognitive satellite-terrestrial network with directional antennas by comparing it using extensive computer simulations and show the effect of the exclusion zone on the success probability at the FES. It is shown that the exclusion zone-based interference mitigation technique significantly improves the success probability as the exclusion zone increases.

  • 본 논문에서는 등간격으로 배치된 환형배열센서를 이용하여 근거리 표적의 3차원 위치를 추정하기 위한 효과적인 기법을 제안한다. 원거리 표적의 입사각 추정 알고리즘으로 추정한 근거리 표적의 입사각 (고각, 방위각)과 근거리 표적의 실제위치 (거리, 고각, 방위각)와의 대수적인 관계를 유도하고, 이를 3차원 MUSIC 스펙트럼의 극대값을 찾기 위한 경로로써 이용한다. 기존의 3차원 MUSIC 기법을 이용한 근거리 표적의 위치추정 기법에서는 3차원 탐색이 필요하나, 제안한 기법을 이용하면 경로를 초기화하기 위한 1번의 2차원 탐색과 경로를 추종하기 위한 1번의 1차원 탐색만이 요구되므로 연산량을 크게 감소시킬 수 있다.

  • 직교주파수분할다중화방식(OFDM)은 부채널간의 직교성을 이용하여 주파수 스펙트럼을 중첩시킴으로써 스펙트럼 효율을 이상적으로 증가시킨 고속의 병렬 변조방식이다. 그러나 OFDM은 부채널간의 스펙트럼이 크게 중첩됨으로 인하여 안정된 채널 환경을 요구하고 있다. OFDM의 경우 채널 환경이 열화하면 부채널간의 직교성이 상실되어 시스템의 큰 성능 저하가 발생한다. 따라서 된 논문에서는 이러한 성능 열화를 개선하기 위하여 서로 역선회하는 원편파를 이용한 다중반송파변조방식인 XCP-OFDM(OFDM using Cross-handed Circular Polarization) 시스템을 제안하였다. XCP-OFDM 시스템은 인편과의 고유 특성인 기수회 반사파 억제 특성과 편파의 식별도가 큰 서로 역선회 하는 2개의 원편파를 사용하여 부채널의 스펙트럼 중첩을 없앰으로써 시스템의 성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 새로운 방식이다. 제안된 시스템의 성능을 이론적인 해석과 더불어 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 이용하여 제안 방식의 우수성을 나타내었다.

  • An experimental and numerical approach has been carried out for to see the noise characteristics of a circular diamond saw. The noise level measurement result for the several kinds of shanks shows us that the noise level reduction in high frequency range could be an effective way to control the noise problem. Sandwich type shank whose center part is laminated with a low Young‘s modulus material greatly reduces the noise level. The noise level for the shank where several curve shaped slits are provided in the circumferential direction is reduced considerably too. The response spectrum analysis by the FEM shows us to be an alternative for predicting the noise characteristics of the shank.

Comparison of Signal Powers Generated with Different Shapes of Hammer Plates

  • One of the main problems concerning the shallow seismic survey is how to generate high frequency signals with large amplitudes using small seismic sources. If one could focus the seismic energy in the direction of the survey line, it will be much helpful in identifying the first break. In this research, we have used hammer as an impulsive source and compared the signal powers generated by different shapes of the hammer plates: circular, square, and rectangular. The experiment was conducted by calculating the power spectral density function to compare the frequency spectrum and signal power. In the direction perpendicular to the long side of the rectangular plate, the largest seismic energy with the highest frequency was achieved even with the same weights of hammer plates. Our conclusion is that it is more efficient to use a rectangular plate than a circular (or square) one when conducting a 2-D shallow seismic survey.

  • During the past three or four decades, the characteristics of turbulent flow have been studied extensively because of their scientific and academic importance. This research deals with the periodic flow oscillation without swirling flow in a 180 degree circular tube using hot wire anemometry, microphone and accelerometer. The frequency regions are observed through the structured oscillation from spectrum. This work carried out to measure the sound level for each Reynolds number, $6{\times}10^4$, $8{\times}10^4$ and $1{\times}10^5$ respectively at the test tube without swirl flow.

  • Spin coaters are the essential instruments in micro-fabrication processes, which apply uniform thin films to flat substrates. In this research, a spin coater diagnosis system is developed to detect the abnormal operation of TFT-LCD process in real time. To facilitate the real-time data acquisition and analysis, the circular-buffered continuous data transfer and the short-time Fourier transform are applied to the fault diagnosis system. To determine whether the system condition is normal or not, a steady-state detection algorithm and a frequency spectrum comparison algorithm using confidence interval are newly devised. Since abnormal condition of a spin coater is rarely encountered, algorithm is tested on a CD-ROM drive and the developed program is verified by a function generator. Actual threshold values for the fault detection are tuned in a spin coater in process.

  • 선폭 축소된 반도체 레이저를 이용하여 루비듐 원자의 $D_{2}$ 전이선에 대해 도플러 효과가 제거된 편광분광을 실시하고 광펌핑 편광 분광 이론과 비교하였다. 펌프광이 충분히 약했을 때 실험에서 얻어진 분산모양의 스펙트럼은 단일 주기 광펌핑 이론과 잘 일치하였다. 또한 편광 분광 신호를 직접 오차신호로 사용하여 공진기 길이를 보상한 결과, 주파수 변조를 하지 않고서도 레이저 주파수를 원자의 초미세 전이선에 안정화시킬 수 있었다.

Absolute Configurations of (±)-Glabridin Enantiomers

  • Concerned with ambiguous stereochemistry assignment of natural (+)-glabridin, absolute configurations of (${\pm}$)-glabridin enantiomers were studied with synthetic glabridin. Synthetic glabridin enantiomers were separated by semi-preparative Sumi-chiral column chromatography, and characterized by UV-Vis and NMR spectroscopy. Three-dimensional molecular structure of glabridin was obtained as equatorial Ph-3 half chair chroman ring from semi-empirical PM3 calculation, and refined by coupling constants in $^1H$ NMR spectrum. Finally, absolute configurations of two enantiomers were determined by circular dichroism spectroscopy based on the empirical helicity rules. Absolute configuration of natural (+)-glabridin was confirmed as (R)-glabridin, as known.
