A neutral particle beam(NPB) aimed at the object and receive a small number of neutron signals at the detector to estimate the mass of an object Since there is uncertainty about the location of the axis of the beam relative to the object, we could have aiming errors which may lead to incorrect information about the object. Under the two assumptions that neutral particle scattering distribution and aiming errors have a circular normal distribution respectively, we have derived an exact probability distribution of neutral particles. It becomes a Poison-power function distribution., We proved monotone likelihood ratio property of tlis distribution. This property can be used to find a criteria for the hypothesis testing problem.

Tn this paper, We propose a user friendly object-based multimedia retrieval system using the HCNN(HippoCampus Neural Network. Most existing approaches to content-based retrieval rely on query by example or user based low-level features such as color, shape, texture. In this paper we perform a scene change detection and key frame extraction for the compressed video stream that is video compression standard such as MPEG. We propose a method for automatic color object extraction and ACE(Adaptive Circular filter and Edge) of content-based multimedia retrieval system. And we compose multimedia retrieval system after learned by the HCNN such extracted features. Proposed HCNN makes an adaptive real-time content-based multimedia retrieval system using excitatory teaming method that forwards important features to long-term memories and inhibitory learning method that forwards unimportant features to short-term memories controlled by impression.

In this paper, we propose a new method to read the hand of analog gauges to prepare for the smart factory. In addition, we suggest a new and improved method that can apply, in general, diverse analog gauges even if their scale types and ranges are various. Many companies are making great efforts to build smart factories that increase energy efficiency and automation. Managers use a variety of equipment and tools to manage the production process at the factory. In this kind of factory, analog gauges have been often used with many equipment and tools. Analog gauges are mostly circular in shape, and most papers use circular hough transform to find the center and radius of a circle. However, when the object to be found is not of the correct circle type, it takes a long time to recognize the circle using the circular hough transform, and the center and radius of the circle can not be calculated accurately. The proposed method was tested on various circular analog gauges. As a result, we confirmed that our method is outstanding.

The determination of three-dimensional positions on a circular or cylindrical surface covers a variety of applications. As an example, consider the monitoring of structures, which is an important topic in the broad category of deformation analysis. The use of convergent photography in determination of these positions has the many advantages over survey based procedures. This paper illustrates results from bundle adjustments derived from convergent photography of a cylindrical object, with both metric and non-metric cameras utilized in the test. In addition to standard error comparisons resulting from the error analysis provided by the bundle adjustments, object space coordinates resulting from metric and non-metric camera network geometries will also be compared.

This paper presents a new feature extraction technique, correlation coefficient and Manhattan distance (MD) based method for recognition of rotated object in an image. This paper also represented a new concept of intensity invariant. We extracted global features of an image and converts a large size image into a one-dimensional vector called circular feature vector's (CFVs). An especial advantage of the proposed technique is that the extracted features are same even if original image is rotated with rotation angles 1 to 360 or rotated. The proposed technique is based on fuzzy sets and finally we have recognized the object by using histogram matching, correlation coefficient and manhattan distance of the objects. The proposed approach is very easy in implementation and it has implemented in Matlab7 on Windows XP. The experimental results have demonstrated that the proposed approach performs successfully on a variety of small as well as large scale rotated images.

This paper presents a method to measure the position and orientation of a Cylindrical Object(unknown the eiameter and length) lying on a floor, using a camera. The two extreme cross section of the cylinder will be viewed as distorted ellipese or circular are, while its limb edge will be shown as two straight lines. The diameter of the cylinder is determined from the geometric properties of the two straight lines, which in turn provides information regarding the length of the cylinder. From the 3-dimensional measurement, the 3D coordinates of the center points of the two extreme cross sections are determined to give the position and orientation of the cylinder. This method is used for automated pick-and-place operations of cylinder, such as sheet coils, or drums in warehouses.

In this study, we propose the automatic extraction method of Rescue Requests from Drone Images. A central object is extracted from each image by using central object extraction method[7] before classification. A central object in an images are defined as a set of regions that is lined around center of the image and has significant texture distribution against its surrounding. In this case of artificial objects, edge of straight line is often found, and texture is regular and directive. However, natural object's case is not. Such characteristics are extracted using Edge direction histogram energy and texture Gabor energy. The Edge direction histogram energy calculated based on the direction of only non-circular edges. The texture Gabor energy is calculated based on the 24-dimension Gebor filter bank. Maximum and minimum energy along direction in Gabor filter dictionary is selected. Finally, the extracted rescue requestor object areas using the dominant features of the objects. Through experiments, we obtain accuracy of more than 75% for extraction method using each features.

In this paper, we present the roundness profile and run-out error measurement for a rotating shaft. The devices for measuring the roundness require a precision rotation table which is used as a reference to obtain the circular profile. Therefore, the roundness measuring system is expensive and requires precision manufacturing. The two-point method for succession measurement has been used to obtain a linear profile or used in straightness measurement using two displacement measuring devices. In this paper, the method is used for measuring the circular profile of a rotating shaft. A method to remove the vibration of the shaft, i.e., the run-out, is used, and the original circular profile is obtained from the measured raw data that excludes the run-out error of the rotating shaft. This method will be useful for obtaining the precise circular profile without using a precision reference circular artifact.
The interaction between two different shaped structures is very important to be understood. Fluid-structure interactions and aerodynamics of a circular cylinder in the wake of a V-shaped cylinder are examined experimentally, including forces, shedding frequencies, lock-in process, etc., with the V-shaped cylinder width d varying from d/D = 0.6 to 2, where D is the circular cylinder diameter. While the streamwise separation between the circular cylinder and V-shaped cylinder was 10D fixed, the transverse distance T between them was varied from T/D = 0 to 1.5. While fluid force and shedding frequency of the circular cylinder were measured using a load cell installed in the circular cylinder, measurement of shedding frequency of the V-shaped cylinder was done by a hotwire. The major findings are: (i) a larger d begets a larger velocity deficit in the wake; (ii) with increase in d/D, the lock-in between the shedding from the two cylinders is centered at d/D = 1.1, occurring at $d/D{\approx}0.95-1.35$ depending on T/D; (iii) at a given T/D, when d/D is increased, the fluctuating lift grows and reaches a maximum before decaying; the d/D corresponding to the maximum fluctuating lift is dependent on T/D, and the relationship between them is linear, expressed as $d/D=1.2+{\frac{1}{e}}T/D$; that is, a larger d/D corresponds to a greater T/D for the maximum fluctuating lift.

This study was started with concern about problem of increasing physical and personal injury caused by traffic accidents, despite of technological advances in transportation. As the vehicles, which is currently produced, informs the driver only detecting the proximity of an object by the front and rear sensor, this study implemented the color detection algorithm, the circular shape recognition algorithm, and the distance recognition algorithm and built the accident prevention beyond accident perception, which commends to avoid the object or to stop the robot, if object was detected by algorithms. For the simulation, we made the Arduino vehicle robot equipped with compact wireless communication camera and confirmed that the robot successfully avoids an object or stops itself in simulated driving.
