  • Ginsenosides, the major active ingredients of ginseng and other plants of the genus Panax, have been used as natural medicines in the East for a long time; in addition, their popularity in the West has increased owing to their various beneficial pharmacological effects. There is therefore a wealth of literature regarding the pharmacological effects of ginsenosides. In contrast, there are few comprehensive studies that investigate their pharmacokinetic behaviors. This is because ginseng contains the complicated mixture of herbal materials as well as thousands of constituents with complex chemical properties, and ginsenosides undergo multiple biotransformation processes after administration. This is a significant issue as pharmacokinetic studies provide crucial data regarding the efficacy and safety of compounds. Moreover, there have been many difficulties in the development of the optimal dosage regimens of ginsenosides and the evaluation of their interactions with other drugs. Therefore, this review details the pharmacokinetic properties and profiles of ginsenosides determined in various animal models administered through different routes of administration. Such information is valuable for designing specialized delivery systems and determining optimal dosing strategies for ginsenosides.

  • In this paper we propose a real-time method to estimate a pointing region from two camera images. In general, a pointing target exists in the face direction when a human points to something. Therefore, we regard the direction of pointing as the straight line that connects the face position with the fingertip position. First, the method extracts two points in the face and the fingertips region by using detecting the skin color of human being. And we used the 3D geometric information to obtain a pointing detection and its region. In order to evaluate the performance, we have build up an ICIGS(Interactive Cinema Information Guiding System) with two camera and a beam project.

  • We simulated ion implantation and annealing condition of 1 ${\mu}m$ CMOS device using process simulator, SUPREM-II. In this simulation, optimal condition of ion implantation for symmetric threshold voltage determination of PMOS and NMOS region, junction depth and sheet resistance of source/drain region, impurity profile of each region are investigated. Ion implantation dose for 3 ${\mu}m$ N-well junction depth and symmetric threshold voltage of $|0.6|{\pm}0.1$ V were $1.9E12Cm^{-2}$(for phosphorus), $1.7E122Cm^{-2}$(for boron) respectively. Also annealing condition for dopant activation are examined about $900^{\circ}C$, 30 minutes. After final process step, N-well junction, P+ S/D junction and N+ S/D junction depth are calculated 3.16 ${\mu}m$, 0.45 ${\mu}m$ and 0.25 ${\mu}m$ respectively.

  • Ultrathin metal-oxide-semiconductor(MOS) gate dielectrics have been fabricated by conventional thermal oxidation in $N_2O$ ambient. Compared to oxides grown in $O_2$, $N_2O$ oxides exhibit significantly low flatband voltage and small shift in flatband voltage. $N_2O$ oxidation induces a slight decrease in mobile ionic charge density($N_m$), fixed charge density($N_f$) and surface state charge density($N_{ss}$). This study establishes that $N_2O$ oxides may have a great impact on future MOS ULSI technology in which ultrathin gate dielectrics are required.

  • Here we report that the H3K9 demethylase KDM3B represses transcription of the angiogenesis regulatory gene, ANGPT1. Negative regulation of ANGPT1 by KDM3B is independent of its Jumonji (JmjC) domain-mediated H3K9 demethylase activity. We demonstrate that KDM3B downregulates ANGPT1 via interaction with SMRT, and suggest that the repressor complex is formed at the promoter area of ANGPT1. Using MTT and wound healing assays, depletion of KDM3B was found to increase cell proliferation and cell motility, indicating that KDM3B has a role in angiogenesis. • Previous report showed that histamine release by HCI was mediated via reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation in RBL 2H3 cells. To investigate action of protein kinase on histamine release and ROS generation. we observed effects of protein kinase inhibitors on histamine release and ROS generation in RBL 2H3 cells stimulated by HCI HCI dose-dependently increased both histamine release and ROS generation. HCI-induced histamine release was significantly inhibited by bisindolmaleimide (10 ${\mu}$M). DHC (10 ${\mu}$M). , and wortmannin (10 ${\mu}$M), but not by PD098059 (10 ${\mu}$M). ON the other hand. HCI-induced ROS generation was significantly inhibited by DHC (10 ${\mu}$M). but not by bisindolmaleimide(10 ${\mu}$M). wortmannin (10 ${\mu}$M). and PD098059 (10 ${\mu}$M). However KN-62 did not inhibited both. These results showed that involvement of protein kinase in regulation of histamine release and ROS generation may be different and only tyrosine kinase may be associated with regulation of both histamine release and ROS generation in RBL 2H3 cells.

  • Motor paralysis is a less common neurologic complication of herpes zoster. Until now, a few cases have been reported, and most of these cases showed brachial plexopathy involving one or two segments. We report a patient with pain and weakness on upper extremity diagnosed as brachial plexopathy after herpes zoster infection. An 88-year-old female patient complained not only tingling sense, pain, and swelling on right whole arm, but also weakness on this right upper extremity. On physical examination, weakness is seen in right shoulder abduction·shoulder flexion·elbow flexion·elbow extension· wrist extension (grade 4), finger flexion·finger abduction·finger extension·finger DIP flexion (grade 3). In electrodiagnostic study and magnetic resonance imaging study, she was diagnosed as the brachial plexopathy, whole branch involved. This is the only case of post-herpetic brachial plexopathy involving whole branch in domestic.

  • Genome editing using CRISPR-associated technology is widely used to modify the genomes rapidly and efficiently on specific DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) induced by Cas9 endonuclease. However, despite swift advance in Cas9 engineering, structural basis of Cas9-recognition and cleavage complex remains unclear. Proper assembly of this complex correlates to effective Cas9 activity, leading to high efficacy of genome editing events. Here, we develop a CRISPR/Cas9-RAD51 plasmid constitutively expressing RAD51, which can bind to single-stranded DNA for DSB repair. We show that the efficiency of CRISPR-mediated genome editing can be significantly improved by expressing RAD51, responsible for DSB repair via homologous recombination (HR), in both gene knock-out and knock-in processes. In cells with CRISPR/Cas9-RAD51 plasmid, expression of the target genes (cohesin SMC3 and GAPDH) was reduced by more than 1.9-fold compared to the CRISPR/Cas9 plasmid for knock-out of genes. Furthermore, CRISPR/Cas9-RAD51 enhanced the knock-in efficiency of DsRed donor DNA. Thus, the CRISPR/Cas9-RAD51 system is useful for applications requiring precise and efficient genome edits not accessible to HR-deficient cell genome editing and for developing CRISPR/Cas9-mediated knockout technology.
