  • This study investigated the thermal conductivity of $CO_2$ gas mixtures in order to ascertain the effects of particular impurities in $CO_2$ in pipeline transportation. We predicted the thermal conductivity of three $CO_2$ gas mixtures ($CO_2+N_2$, $CO_2+H_2S$, and $CO_2+CH_4$) by utilizing three different methods : Chung et al., TRAPP, and the REFPROP model. We validated predictions by comparing the estimated results with 216 experimental data for $CO_2+CH_4$, $CO_2+N_2$, and $CO_2+C_2H_6$. Following $CO_2$ transportation conditions, we observed that the model developed by Chung et al. showed the lowest mean deviation of 3.07%. Further investigations were carried out on the thermal conductivity of $CO_2$ gas mixtures based on the Chung et al. model including the effects of the operation parameters of pressure, temperature, and mole fraction of impurities.

  • Although most proposed security schemes have scrutinized their own security models for protecting different types of threats and attacks, this naturally causes a problem as follows-- if a security analysis tool would fit a certain scheme, it may not be proper to other schemes. In order to address this problem, this paper analyzes how security requirements of each paper could be different by comparing with two schemes: Agrawal et al.'s scheme OPES (Order Preserving Encryption Scheme) and Zdonik et al.'s FCE (Fast Comparison Encryption). Zdonik et al. have formally disproved the security of Agrawal et al.'s scheme OPES. Thereafter, some scholars have wondered whether the OPES can guarantee its applicability in a real world for its insecurity or not. However, the analysis by Zdonik et al. does not have valid objectivity because they used the security model INFO-CPA-DB for their scheme FCE to analyze Agrawal et al.'s scheme OPES, in spite of the differences between two schemes. In order to analyze any scheme correctly and apply it to a real world properly, the analysis tool should be comprehensively standardized. We re-analyze Zdonik et al.'s analysis for OPES and then propose general formalizations of security and privacy for all of the encrypted retrieval systems. Finally, we recommend the minimum level of security requirements under our formal definitions. Additional considerations should be also supplemented in accordance with the conditions of each system.

  • This paper introduces a new method to estimate and decompose sources of carbon dioxide emissions using an input-output model with decomposition method free of residual usually associated with this kind of analysis. This method is different from others, using what we call 'mean rate-of-change index (MRCI)' for weights of the decomposed terms. Ang et al.(1998) asserted that logarithmic mean divisia index(LMDI) is superior to Laspeyres index(LI) or simple average divisia index(SADI) since it reduces residual to zero. We claim that our method is an improvement over the other methods because it enables residual free decomposition even when data contain negative values, the case which LMDI cannot handle. We demonstrate by way of showing some examples that our method is superior to LI, SADI(Proops, 1993 and Chung, 1998) or LMDI(Ang et al., 1998).

  • Anisotropy has an important effect on the strain distribution in aluminum alloy sheet forming, and it is closely related to the thinning and formability of sheet metals. Thus, the anisotropy of the material should be properly considered for the realistic analyses of aluminum sheet forming processes. For this, anisotropy can be approached in two different scales: phenomenological and microstructural (polycrystal) models. Recent anisotropic models (Yld2000-2d; Barlat et al.[1] 2003, Cuitino et al.[2] 1992) were employed in this work. For the simulation using shell element, the method which can impose plane stress condition in the polycrystal model is developed. Lankford values and yield stress ratios are calculated along various directions. As planar anisotropic behavior, a circular cup deep drawing simulation was carried out to compare the phenomenological and microstructure models in terms of earing profile.

  • This paper studies a Bayesian ordered multiple linear regression model with skew normal error. It is reasonable that the kind of inherent information available in an applied regression requires some constraints on the coefficients to be estimated. In addition, the assumption of normality of the errors is sometimes not appropriate in the real data. Therefore, to explain such situations more flexibly, we use the skew-normal distribution given by Sahu et al. (The Canadian Journal of Statistics, 31, 129-150, 2003) for error-terms including normal distribution. For Bayesian methodology, the Markov chain Monte Carlo method is employed to resolve complicated integration problems. Also, under the improper priors, the propriety of the associated posterior density is shown. Our Bayesian proposed model is applied to NZAPB's apple data. For model comparison between the skew normal error model and the normal error model, we use the Bayes factor and deviance information criterion given by Spiegelhalter et al. (Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B (Statistical Methodology), 64, 583-639, 2002). We also consider the problem of detecting an influential point concerning skewness using Bayes factors. Finally, concluding remarks are discussed.

  • A comprehensive program for children's leadership improvement by enhancing their self-esteem, empathy, communication competence and emotion regulation utilized core concepts and techniques or the Solution-Focused Model of Chung et al. (2005), Satir's Experiential Model(Chung, 2003), Cognitive-Behavioral Model (Kim, 2002) and problem-solving games (Chung & Kim, 2005). Twenty-six $3^{rd}$, $4^{th}$, and $5^{th}$ graders from public schools in Seoul participated in six 2.5 hour sessions and their mothers participated in two 2.5 hour sessions. All subjects received pre-, post- and follow-up tests. The results showed that children's self-esteem, empathy, communication competence, and emotion regulation increased as a result of this program and the effects lasted for at least three months after the termination of the program.

  • The evaluation and analysis of diffusivity of lithium for coarsening and coarsening kinetics of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ precipitate in Al-Li-Cu-Mg-Zr alloy aged at $170^{\circ}C$ have been investigated by transmission electron microscopy. With ageing time, ${\delta}^{\prime}$ precipitate coaesened to followed $\bar{\gamma}{\propto}t^{1/3}$ and coarsening kinetics was found to be obeyed to the Lifshitz-Slyozov-Wagner(LSW) theory and diffusivity of lithium for coarsening of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ precipitate in Al-Li-Cu-Mg-Zr alloy was obtained to be $5.85{\times}10^{-17}{\sim}1.53{\times}10^{-16}$ by experimental coarsening rate constant and various coarsening kinetic theory. Diffusivity of lithium measured by using various model but MLSW and Tsumuraya (VI) et al. model in Al-Li-Cu-Mg-Zr alloy is similar to that calculated by the Costas's diffusivity equation. It was, therefore, suggested that additing to the Cu, Mg and Zr element in Al-Li system have no great effect on diiffusivity of lithium for coarsening of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ This suggest that in matrix.

  • We present empirical fiducial sequences for horizontal-branch (HB) stars in a set of bright Galactic globular clusters previously observed in SDSS (An et al. 2008). Mean loci of HB stars are derived on color-magnitude diagrams with multiple color indices (u - g, g - r, g - i, and g - z ) in order to identify foreground/background objects as well as cluster RR Lyrae variables. We compare our fiducial sequences to the model predictions from Yonsei-Yale isochrones and test the accuracy of the stellar evolution models.

  • Reinforced concrete bridge columns with relatively small aspect ratio show flexure-shear behavior, which is flexural behavior at initial and medium displacement stages and shear failure at final stage. Since the columns with flexure-shear failure have lower ductility than those with flexural failure, shear capacity curve models shall be applied as well as flexural capacity curve in order to determine ultimate displacement for seismic design or performance evaluation. In this paper, a modified shear capacity curve model is proposed and compared with the other models such as the CALTRANS model, Aschheim et al.'s model, and Priestley et al.'s model. Four shear capacity curve models are applied to the 4 full scale circular bridge column test results and the accuracy of each model is discussed. It may not be fully adequate to drive a final decision from the application to the limited number of test results, however the proposed model provides the better prediction of failure mode and ultimate displacement than the other models for the selected column test results.
