Objectives : The aim of the present study was to report the clinical progress of a patient who underwent surgical treatment of necrotizing fasciitis. Methods : During the admission period, The patient was treated with acupuncture, cupping, Korean Medicine, Chuna therapy every day and observed by Numeric Rating Scale(NRS), Pain Disability Index(PDI), Beck Depression Inventory(BDI), and assessment about range of motion(ROM) and manual muscle test(MMT) for hip & knee joint. Results : After treated by using above treatment, NRS, PDI, BDI and ROM, MMT were improved. Conclusions : Korean Medical treatment are estimated to be good for patients after surgical treatment of necrotizing fasciitis. But more cases are required to prove the effectiveness of the treatment.

This study individually analyzed the effects of Korean Facial Chuna Manual Treatment (K-FCMT) combined with Korean medicine (KM) treatment (acupuncture, electroacupuncture, pharmacopuncture, and herbal medicine) on five patients with acute Bell's palsy who visited Dongsuwon Korean Medicine Hospital between August 1 and 31, 2022. During inpatient treatment, two of the five patients received K-FCMT 5-6 times a week, and the other three received the same frequency during outpatient treatment for approximately 2 weeks. Patients with a House-Brackmann grading scale (HBGS) score of ≤4 and Yanagihara unweighted grading system (Y-score) ≥7-8 began to recover after the 2nd-3rd sessions of K-FCMT, which entered the recovery phase quickly. As patients entered the recovery phase (7-9th sessions of K-FCMT), symptoms improved to HBGS scores of 1-2 and Y-scores of 35-40 points. This study suggests the possibility of applying K-FCMT combined with KM treatment to patients in the acute stage of Bell's palsy.

Objectives : The present study reports seven foot drop patients with herniated intervertebral lumbar disc treated by Muscle Energy Technique and Korean traditional medicine therapy. Methods : Seven foot drop patients with herniated intervertebral lumbar disc were treated by Muscle Energy Rechnique and Korean traditional medicine therapy and were assessed by Manual Muscle Test, numeric rating scale, and oswestry low back pain disability index. Results : Among seven foot drop patients, two cases showed complete recovery, three cases showed recovery over good grade, and two cases showed recovery over good grade after temporary weakness. numeric rating scale and oswestry low back pain disability index of all cases showed improvement. Conclusions : Seven foot drop patients with herniated intervertebral lumbar disc were treated by Muscle Energy Rechnique and Korean traditional medicine therapy and showed improvement. It is anticipated that this report benefits the future in depth study and clinical treatments on the foot drop symptom in korean medicine.

Objectives : The aim of this systemic review was to summarize and compare adverse effect of spinal manipulation at domestic and abroad. Methods : We searched articles in Korean databases and Pubmed. We selected and analysed the articles met inclusion criteria. Results : 51 cases were included. 32 cases in Pubmed show that adverse effect related to cervical rotation and high velocity low amplitude(HVLA) thrust manipulation. It leads to severe adverse effect and sequela about vascular. While, 19 cases in Korean articles shows that domestic spinal manipulation is more safe becase of lower use of high velocity low amplitude(HVLA) thrust. It leads to low incidence of vascular adverse effect and no sequela. Conclusions : We concluded that Chuna is difficult manipulation because of possibility of adverse effect. Chuna is recommended to be taken by licensed medical practitioners who are skilled and complete the regular curriculum. Further studies like meta analysis about spinal manipulation are needed to estimate incidence of adverse effect. And adverse effects are going to be collected continually through randomized controlled trials(RCT) related to spinal manipulation.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to research the trend of the theses related to conservative treatment of spinal scoliosis and to establish the direction of futher studies into the spinal scoliosis Methods : We reviewed and analyzed all theses published by Korean research institution. And these theses were classified by field of study, theses type, symptoms and illnesses, evaluation methods, treatment type, clinical outcome. Result and conclusion : 1. Classified by the major field of study, oriental rehabilitation medicine and physical education accounted for 9 papers, followed by 6 in orthopedics medicine. 2. Upon classifying theses according to research method type, clinical trial theses were more than casuistic theses. 3. Upon classifying theses according to symptoms and illnesses in scoliosis, the most was idiopathic scoliosis. 4. Theses used mostly Cobb's angle for evaluating in scoliosis. 5. Some few of theses used chuna therapy for treating in scoliosis. 6. Chuna therapies side by side with correction exercises were the most efficient for treating in scoliosis.

Objectives : The aims of this study were to introduce the theory of traditional Chinese orthopedic theory(整脊理論) and to analyze the guideline of diagnosis and treatment of common spinal disorders by treating Chinese spinal manipulation technique(常見病中醫整脊指南). Methods : We have searched the web sites of traditional Chinese orthopedics association (整脊學會), a branch of the China academy of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and related articles. Additionally, we analyzed the guideline of diagnosis and treatment of common spinal disorders by treating Chinese spinal manipulation technique which was introduced by that association at 7th academic conference in China in 2011. Results : The guideline was prepared by 2 year project leaded by professor Yi-zhong Wei who was a person in charge of the spinal manipulation guideline of national standardization committee of TCM in China. It was a summary of the whole theory of China spinal manipulation therapy in TCM and contained 22 common spinal disorders by the treatment of traditional Chinese Tuina methods. Spinal manipulation theory was summarized by one doctrine, two theories, and two important view points. The treatment method was abstracted as 8 major Tuina techniques. Conclusions : The guideline will be a way of advance of Chinese spinal manipulation technique. This will be a good reference to Korea Chuna manipulation for improving their techniques.

In recent years, according to the increase of the osteoporosis and traffic accidents, the vertebral compression fracture patients are increased, This Study is clinical observation to the patients who be taken compression fracture of the $L1^{\sim}L2$ vertebra bodies with the symptoms of urinary disorder and ileus. She was treated by bed rest, acupuncture and moxibustion, herb medicine, physical therapy. In the observation of this case, I think that conservative treatment which involved acupuncture, moxibustion therapy and herb medicinal treatment is more effective than common nonoperative therapy.

Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate chiropractic spinal manipulation and internal diseases in articles. Methods: It was investigated how many articles had been searched for spinal manipulation applied to internal disease in Pubmed Database Results: 1. There are 19 articles of chiropractic spinal manipulation and internal diseases were investigated. 2. It was reported that there are improvements of spinal manipulative therapy on asthma, injury of the optic nerve, hypertension, vertigo, tinnitus, hearing loss, etc. Conclusions: There are several reports on effectiveness of spinal manipulative therapy on asthma, injury of the optic nerve, hypertension, vertigo, tinnitus, hearing loss, etc. And It is considered that spinal manipulative therapy shows improvement on the internal diseases.

Objective : We had good effects on two patients who had problem with temporomandibular joint by using upper cervical manipulation combined with acupuncture therapy. Methods : Two temporomandibular disorder cases were managed by using upper cervical manipulation, combined with acupuncture therapy. We used Toggle-recoil technique for the purpose of upper cervical manipulation. Results :Even though symptoms of two patients were not same, each cases showed clinical changes by using upper cervical manipulation. Two cases had effects on decreasing pain of temporomandibular joint, and at the first case, the range of motion of temporomandibular joint was increased. Conclusion : We could treat temporomandibular disorder patients by using upper cervical manipulation combined with acupuncture therapy.

Objectives The aim of this review is to investigate clinical studies for manual therapy on Temporomandibular Joint Disorder and to propose for the better method of studies in the future. Methods We investigated recent clinical studies for manual therapy on Temporomandibular Joint Disorder via searching Pubmed, KISS, KISTI, KERIS, KMBASE and National Assembly Library. 21 domestic and overseas articles were analyzed and the journals, the authors, the published years, countries, methods, periods, techniques of chiropractic, outcome measures, and purpose of those articles were examined. Results Studies on manual therapy were mainly published via Cranio. The diagnostic criteria that most frequently adopted in the overseas articles were research diagnostic criteria for temporomandibular disorders, The technique of chiropractic that most frequently adopted in the articles was passive traction and translation of TMJ. Many of the studies were researched for effectiveness of the manual therapy as the secondary treatment. Conclusions Reviewing the recent clinical studies for manual therapy on temporomandibular joint disorder and figuring out the strong points and weak points of those studies are necessary to future studies. It is anticipated that this review would benefit the in-depth treatments for temporomandibular joint disorder in terms of Korean medicine.
