이 후 몇 편의 논문을 통하여 160Gb/s,300km(3$\times$100km)전송, 40Gb/s, 720km(6$\times$120km)전송 등이 보고되었다. • The third-party FFT IP cores available in today's markets do not provide the desired speed demands for optical communication. This study deals with the design and implementation of a 256-point Radix-4 100 Gbit/s FFT, where computational steps are reconsidered and optimized for high-speed applications, such as radar and fiber optics. Alternative methods for FFT implementation are investigated and Radix-4 is decided to be the optimal solution for our fully parallel FPGA application. The algorithms that we will implement during the development phase are to be tested on a Xilinx Virtex-6 FPGA platform. The proposed FFT core has a fully parallel architecture with a latency of nine clocks, and the target clock rate is 312.5 MHz.

  • This paper presents an intuitive method for selecting an optical material for achromatic and athermal design using the material selection index (MSI). In addition, in the case of a wide wavelength range such as a short-wave infrared (SWIR) waveband, we propose a new material selection method for apochromatic and athermal design by introducing the relative error of partial dispersion (REPD) and a first-order quantity redistribution method. To obtain a suitable material for effective apochromatic design, we first evaluate the REPDs of all lenses, deviated from that of an equivalent lens. Materials with a small REPD are then selected on a glass map to correct residual chromatic aberration while maintaining the existing MSI values to realize athermalization simultaneously. Using this proposed glass selection method, we successfully obtained an apochromatic and athermal telephoto system for SWIR that realizes stable performance over the specified temperature and wide waveband ranges.

  • We present new methods which transfer the color style of a source image into an arbitrary given reference image. Misidentification problem of color cause wrong indexing in low saturation. Therefore, the proposed method do indexing after Image separating chromatic and achromatic color from saturation. The proposed method is composed of the following four steps : In the first step, Image separate chromatic and achromatic color from saturation using threshold. In the second step, image of separation do indexing using cylindrical metric. In the third step, the number and positional dispersion of pixel decide the order of priority for each index color. And average and standard deviation of each index color be calculated. In the final step, color be transferred in Lab color space, and post processing to removal noise and pseudo-contour. Experimental results show that the proposed method is effective on indexing and color transfer.

  • Transmission performances of direct detection-based 100-Gb/s modulation formats are investigated and compared for metro area optical networks. The effects of optical signal-to-noise ratio sensitivity, chromatic dispersion, cross-channel nonlinearity, and transmission distance on the performance of differential 8-ary phase-shift keying (D8PSK), differential phase-shift keying plus three-level amplitude-shift keying (DPSK+3ASK), and dual-carrier differential quaternary phase-shift keying (DC-DQPSK) are evaluated. The performance of coherent dual-polarization quadrature phase-shift keying (DP-QPSK) with block phase estimation and coherent DP-QPSK with digital differential detection are also presented for reference. According to our analysis, all three direct detection modulation formats could transmit a 100-Gb/s signal over several hundred kilometers of a single-mode fiber link. The results also show that DC-DQPSK outperforms D8PSK and DPSK+3ASK, and the performance of DC-DQPSK is comparable to that of coherent DP-QPSK with digital differential detection. The maximum transmission distance of DC-DQPSK is over 1,000 km, which is enough distance for metro applications.

  • In this paper, we induced that the noise powers and bit error rate of direct detection receiver taking account of ISI (intersymbol interference) in the 2,000 km optical transmission system. And we evaluated the sensitivity in the vrious bit rate system. We verified that the proposed calculation method is applicable to the exact optical system. And we confirmed that the signal distortion due to both chromatic dispersion and nonlinear effects compensated by using of MSSI (Mid-Span Spectral Inversion) method, and yet the sensitivity of a higher bit rate system is reduced, because of the increase of ISI and then the decrease of the average receiving power, compared with a the lower bit rate system.

  • We investigate the propagation characteristics of a pulse laser in a time-of-flight laser range finder (TOF-LRF) system with variations in atmospheric conditions, such as temperature, pressure, relative humidity, and the concentration of $CO_2$. The measurement error of distance related with the group velocity change in the TOF-LRF system is analyzed by considering the refractive index of the standard atmosphere with variations in atmospheric conditions. The dependence of the pulse width broadening induced by chromatic dispersion of the standard atmosphere on the operating wavelength and the initial pulse width of the light sources is discussed. The transmission of air with variations in the relative humidity or the concentration of $CO_2$ is analyzed by using different values of absorption coefficients depending on the operation wavelength of the light source in the TOF-LRF system.

  • We demonstrate a repeatless transmission of 2.5 Gbps digital signal over 98 km opticla filbers using optical transmitter and optcial receiver which are designed and implemented using commercially available devices. The optical transmitter is realized by using a distributed feedback(DFB) laser. Temperature of the laser is thermoelectrically stabilized and the output optical power is also stabilized by using negative feedback. The output power of the transmitter is 0 dBm. The optical receiver consists of an InGaAs avalanche photodiode, a preamplifier. an automatic gain control amplifier, and a clock/data regenerator. We find an optimum decision threshold that gives the best receiver sensitivity form the measured V curve. The best sensitivity is -35.5dBm( BER-1*10S010T, PRBS=2S023T -1 ) and the overload power is -9 dBm. Finally, we achieve error free optical transmission with 98 km optical fibers. The exinction ration penalty of 2 dB. the chromatic dispersion penalty of 1 dB, and the total power penalty of 3.0 dB are measured. These results satisfy CCITT recommendation.

  • We proposed a two-mode fiber (TMF) design that can effectively reduce the mode overlap between $LP_{01}$ and $LP_{11}$ modes by using a W-shaped index profile core structure, which is a primary concern in uncoupled mode division multiplexing (MDM). TMF has a three-layered core structure; central circular core, inner cladding, and outer ring core. We confirmed that in an optimal structure the $LP_{01}$ mode was highly confined to the central core while the $LP_{11}$ mode was guided along the outer ring core to result in a minimum overlap integral. We used a full-vectorial finite element method to estimate effective index, differential group delay (DGD), confinement loss, chromatic dispersion, and mode overlap controlling the parameters of the W-shaped structure. The optimized W-profile fiber provided optical characteristics within the ITU-T recommended standards over the entire C+L band.

  • In an age when a small quantity of sperm can lead to pregnancy through in vitro fertilization or intracytoplasmic sperm injection, selecting healthy sperm is important. Sperm DNA fragmentation (SDF) is known to be higher in infertile men. Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated deoxyuridine triphosphate nick end labeling (TUNEL) and the alkaline comet test are SDF tests that directly measure DNA damage and have shown closer correlations with assisted reproduction results than indirect tools such as the sperm chromatin structure assay or the sperm chromatic dispersion test. It is difficult; however, to endorse a single test as the best test overall; instead, it is best to select a testing method based on each patient's clinical condition and goals. In a couple struggling with infertility, if the male partner has a high level of SDF, he should aim to decrease SDF through lifestyle modifications, antioxidant treatment, and ensuring an appropriate duration of abstinence, and physicians need to treat the underlying diseases of such patients. If sperm DNA damage continues despite the patient's and physician's efforts, other methods, such as micromanipulation-based sperm selection or testicular sperm extraction, should be used to select healthy sperm with nuclear DNA integrity.
