This study was done for analyzing processes on the planning and opening of chronological urban parks in Daegu City since the 1960s, and for interpreting the social meaning on changes of the urban parks with regards to historical circumstances during that period. In the 1960s, urban parks, which were recognized as one of urban planning facilities, were only designated for creating rather than created, although nationally several laws including urban planning act and park act were newly legislated. Rapid urbanization and increasing population in the 1970s led to create many urban parks. However, the policy for increasing parks had been not successful because of the lack of enough funds. In the 1980s, multi-purpose urban parks including stable area as well as active facilities were created for getting several attractions to urban residents. During this period, urban parks were recognized on an aesthetic perspective through vegetating plans on the city-beautiful movement for hosting consecutive international games. The citizen participation in urban parks and the increasing concern about urban environment were started in the 1990s, and the people living in an urban area were interested in the quantitative expansion and qualified renovation of the urban parks as well. Finally, modernistic urban parks were first introduced in the late period of Chosun Dynasty, however their substantial introduction was done in the 1960s. Through this study, the concept of an urban park as a public resting place for citizen in Daegu was thought to be mostly established in the 1990s as we have investigated on the social meaning derived from the periodical changes of urban parks.
This paper is to classify old county-maps of Dongrae-bu(東萊府), Busan in late-Chosun dynasty and to analyze place names in maps comparatively. 26 maps covering Dongrae-bu were collected from the old county-map atlas(郡縣地圖帖) and Eupji(邑誌). By e comparative analysis of contents, those maps can be classified into four types. The first type(named 'Haedong-Jido(海東地圖)') included 7 county-maps in which information of military, and administrative contents are mainly mapped. The second type(named 'Yeongnam-do(嶺南地圖)') included 5 coon maps in which information about beacon routes and road systems were regarded as very important. The third type(named 'Grid-system map(方眼式地圖)') included 4 county-maps which were drawn as same scale with 20-ri(理) grids. The fourth type(named 'Local Count-map(地方郡懸地圖)') included 7 county maps which were drawn by local mappers. Comparative analysis of place names between those four types revealed that Grid-system maps were developed toward the large scale whole map of Korea in the 19th century.

This might be a reaction to the long and dark winter of Scandinavian countries. Motifs used in Danish folk furniture had been chosen to reflect their surroundings. Flowers, six-angular stars, animals, human figures and Biblical motifs were popular sources of decoration for Danish folk furniture. Characteristics of Korean folk furniture were as followings; Main materials of Korean folk furniture were broad-leaved trees as well as conifers, because of their beautiful wood grain. The Korean ways of decoration were different from Danish ones. The method of painting with bright from Danish ones. The method of painting with bright colors was hardly ever used in Korea, except only in lacquering. The most popular decoration method for Korean folk furniture was revealing the natural wood grain with transparent vegetable oil finish, instead of painting. Metal ornament was unique to Korean folk furniture. therefore a lot of metal ornaments were attached on the furniture. Motifs used in Korean folk furniture were more like symbolic than Danish ones. Korean people tried to express their longings and norms through the motifs, such as longevity, prosperity, good luck, and many sons, etc. Therefore, it was natural for Korean motifs to have special symbolic meanings.

This study was to provide information about snow falling phenomenon in Korea for 1934 years from BC 6 to 1928 based on the records of old literatures, which are the true record of the Chosun dynasty, records of king Kojong and Soonjong, and some data including history of the Koryo in internet home page of Korea meteorological administration. Key words used in search procedure were totally 20 words such as snow, heavy snow, big snow, snow pellets, snowstorm, avalanche, etc. The searching contents consisted of the time of the first and the last snow, the amount of snow falling, snow damage, the thought about heavy snow phenomenon, and unusual weather conditions related to snow. The earliest record for the first snow was July of the rural calendar in 733 and the latest record for the last snow was June 11 of the lunar calendar. From these records, it could be estimated that there were some snow falling even in summer season. The amount of almost heavy snow ranged from 1.2 m to 1.5 m, but sometimes there were some records about the amount of snow falling higher than 3 meters. It was also found that there were three records about big heavy snow damages. In 1524 and 1525, approximately 100 and 140 peoples in Kyungsung, Hamgyung Province were dead due to heavy snowstorm. It was also recorded that 91 people in Jeiu island were dead in 1670 because of snow damage. Some singular records about snow were also found in old literatures. There was a congratulatory ceremony of new snow when the first snow was falling in the year. There was also a ritual praying for snow when there was no snow in the year. It was also found that there was snow falling with worms and red snow falling.

The purpose of this paper is to identify woodblocks which were engraved in the providences in the mid Chosun dynasty, especially ones engraved under the auspices of Yu Heui-chun(柳希春), but not listed in $\boxDr$Kosachwalyo 攷事撮要$\boxUl$. This could be done by the analyzing $\boxDr$The Diary of Miam 眉巖日記$\boxUl$ written by Yu Heui-chun. It is a book which recorded daily life of eminent scholar and official covering political, social and cultural aspects, books and family matters. There were two categories of books published under the auspices of Yu Heui-chun. One is the books written by his grandfather in law, Choi Bu(崔溥), which were $\boxDr$Keumnamjip 錦南集$\boxUl$ collective works of Choi Bu, and $\boxDr$Pyohaerog 漂海錄$\boxUl$, essays on travelling across China. The other is the books for children, $\boxDr$Sinjeung Yuhap 新增類合$\boxUl$ for teaching characters and $\boxDr$Sog Mong-gu 續蒙求$\boxUl$ for moral education. These woodblocks have to enlisted in the woodblock catalogs. The analysis shows that most of these woodblocks by Yu Heui-chun were not recorded in either of two $\boxDr$Kosachwalyo 攷事撮要$\boxUl$ editions published in 1575 and 1585. In this respect, $\boxDr$The Diary of Miam$\boxUl$ proved itself to be of great significance in terms of bibliography studies.

Chilgok District is a historical area, which has had a certain amount of development. It has its own regional characteristics originating from its isolation from the existing built up area of Daegu City by the Kumho River This study explores the historical development processes and pending development issues of Chilgok District. In 1640 after the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592, the district upgraded into Chilgok Dohobu due to its importance as a transportation hub of Youngnamdaero(the main road of Youngnam province in Chosun Dynasty). In its early stages, the government office was located in Kasan fortress, later the of office was moved to Eupnae-Dong. The Chilgok district has experienced a developmental lag resulting from the office's removal to Waegwan, located on the Kyungbu railroad since 1914. Later, due to the increasing influence of nearby Daegu City, urbanization continued gradually. Finally in 1981 Chilgok district was officially incorporated into Daegu Metropolitan City. In the later 1980s, the housing land development project was applied into the district centered on the alluvial plain of Palgeo-Cheon(stream) of the Northern part of Taejun-Bridge. Although the old built up zone was excluded from public sector development projects, private sector development has made the zone a modern town. Now, Chilgok district has transformed into a high-density residential new town in which high-rise apartment complexes mingle with numerous houses. As the district has developed, traffic jams have become a hot issue and it is going to get worse than now as the development continues. To solve this problem, Daegu city needs to swiftly construct the fourth belt way and the third subway line.
In principal, the original form of Eupchi landscape in Naepo reflects a traditional idea regarding direction as a connection with one's fortune and naturalization strategy of power. In reality, the weight for the landscape inside the castle town was distinct by locality according to the conditions of natural geographies and main function of the castle town. In other words, the traditional Eupchi landscape was shaped under the fixed principles but it was simultaneously reflecting the local temporality and spatiality. As Chosun Dynasty went under the Japanese colonization, Eupchi in the traditional period started to evolve into a modem city. That is to say, the traditional Eupchi as a political place became to change into the center of capital accumulation, stronghold of economy and education, and center of town beyond the function as a place for government and administration. Therefore, the process of change from the landscape of Eupchi to a modem city was a kind of revolution in the form and function, and it was also a very rapid rearrangement of social space. The disparate element of landscape and double social space worked as a vital inertial element in the urban structure of Naepo area until the post independence and evolution of landscape.
This article reviewed ‘Gojangsijoseonju(고장시조선주)' which was written by Gojeong-ok(.고정옥), a scholar of Korean literature. and showed the features and importance in the history of Korean literature. Gojeong-ok was not properly studied in the history of Korean literature for the time being because he went to North Korea during the Korean war. Even for the researcher on Korean literature.' the literary works of Gojeong-ok were not introduced properly. However, the systematic studies on Gojeong-ok and his literary works should be done, and should be well appreciate his work in the history of the research for Korean literature by his achievements. This article considered his literary achievement through his book, 'Gojangsijoseonju'. 'Jangsijo(장시조), that was named by Gojeong-ok for 'Saseolsijo(사설시조), stood in highly important position to explain the history of literarature in late period of Chosun(조선) Dynasty. He tried the analysis on the fifty (50) selected 'Saseolsijo' and made commentaries on them in his book. And he suggested the original and creative theory on 'Saseolsijo' at the time of the book published. This article considered his understandings on the poems of classical literature, revealed in his literary works, and especially, the features on the theory for the 'Jangsijo'. Through this process, it could be clearly understand his views on literary works in itself. By considering the analysis of literature that was introduced with the commentaries, it could be seen the aspects of the specific analysis on each literature. Through these works, it could be looked forward to getting more detailed investigating clue on the view of Gojeong-ok for the poems of classical literature.
This study intends to describe the characteristics of the transformation of the rural society by tracing the changing social and economic processes of traditional clan villiage (Yeolmi-ri, Silchon-myeon, Kwangju-gun, Kyunggi-province) in the suburbs of Seoul Metropolitan Area. Rural society has experienced serious change of the social structure by the ever expanding urbanization and industrialization since 1960's. The suburbs of Seoul Metropolitan Area is the representative case area of such transformation. This study analyzed various chracteristics of population structure of a villiage, the processes of residential movement and the occupational shift of each household of the villiage in terms of household's life-history collected by interviewing with each household. And the whole households of a villiage is divided by two groups of the native clan group and the non-dan in-migrant group. The results of this study are summarized as follows. 1) This villiage is located within a lineal distance of 40km and a time distance of about 30 to 40 minutes, adjoined dy the Joongbu(중부) national highway, the Kyungchoong (경충) industrial road, the local road between Yangpyuna(양평) and Gonjiam(곤지암) and having a advantageous iocational linkage to Seoul capital city. 2) It is a typical traditional dan villiae constituted of dan family Gu(구) one of whose ancestors had appointed to the prime minister of Chosun Dynasty, and until 1979, 56 out of 60 families of the villiage households were clan families. 3) Since 1979, as the villiage invaded by the out-movement of the small scale manufacturing industries from Seoul capital city, labours moved in this vallige from outside and increased villiage size up to 203 households in 1993, consequently the constitutional proportion between the native clan group and the non-clan in-migrant group was reversed up to 28% vs 72% deepening the sociological heterogeneity. 4) Because of the small scale of industries in this villiage and the vicinity with the city of Seoul, the population turnover of this villiage is very high. The turnover frequency is firstly high within same administrative district of gun(군) level and secondly high between this villiage and the city of Seoul. Thus short-distance movement is identified. 5) There is a close correlation between the residential movement and the occupational shift. The most numbers of non-farm native group have the experiences of migration while the members of native farming group don't shift both the job and the place of residence. The inmigrant group had several migration experiences but few occupational shifts. Thus occupatioanl shift is high for the native group while residential shift is high for the in-migrant group. It is concluded that the change proceeded in Metropolitan suburbs was not directed to form the traditional rural village as 'gesund Gebiet' with respect to the ballance among the economic, cultural and environmental adequency.

The laboratory theses are more plentiful in number than those of literatural or clinical ones, especially more outstanding trends in the case of doctors. 2. In clinical theses, clinical obserbation was high frequnt in master and accupunture in doctor. 3. In laboratory theses, the usage of pharmacy was more frequnt than that of accupuntures or moxibutions. 4. In laboratory theses, it was more plentiful the case of being taken ill before experiment. 5. In experimental method, the drugs were more used complexed or complexed extract, in the case of accupunture, the methods were more adopted by general accup. and aqureaccupunture. 6. In laboritory theses, theses was abundant of no description of normal, control and laboratory groop. 7. It was the great number wi thin a day in the laboratory terms, the rats were most adopted as the objects of lab., in the number of lab method, doctor's was more plentiful than master's. 8. Laboratory theses had totally more reference and quotation than those of other theses. According to the above results, the number of laboratory theses are superior than clincal and literature theses, other study or statistical theses. But unfortunately they were not enough the transmission of meaning of theses and contribution of learning, beacuse how to do theses was not uni form and description was not evident. So afterward I think it is needed more careful attention and study in the method of theses works.
