Lycii Radicis Cortex, the root bark of Lycium chinense Miller (Solanaceae) is used in oriental medicine as a tonic and is reported to exhibit hypotensive, hypoglycemic, and antipyretic activity. Recently, we have isolated dihydro-N-caffeoyltyramine, a phenolic amide, from the Lycii Radicis Cortex. Treatment with dihydro-N-caffeoyltyramine significantly inhibited the proliferation of human leukemia cell lines HL-60 in a dose-dependent manner. We found also that the growth inhibition of HL-60 by dihydro-N-caffeoyltyramine is associated with induction of apoptosis of cells. (omitted)

Streptomyces tendae JC412 secreted two forms of protease(ST -1 and ST -2) when grown in OSY medium (oatmeal 1.5%. soybean meal 2%. dried yeast 1 %) supplemented with glucose(0.5%) and KH2PO4(0.05%). Initial pH of the culture medium was adjusted to 10.0 with NaOH and incubated at $27^{\circ}C$ on a rotary shaking incubator (180rpm). High- molecular-weight protease ST-1 was heat labile. whereas low molecular protease ST-2(22.000 Da) was reported to be heat stable. (omitted)

This study investigated the initial capital trend of newly-established fisheries companies during the Japanese occupation period. The initial capital size of fisheries companies provides information about the viability of the fisheries companies as well as the utilization intensity of fisheries resources. According to the analysis results, the average initial capital size of fisheries companies was larger in the enforcement period of "Chosun Company Ordinance" than in its abolition period. The initial capital size of the Chosun-capital fisheries company was smaller than that of the Japanese-capital fisheries company during the Japanese occupation period. The number of new fisheries companies funded by Chosun capital was less than the number of new fisheries companies funded by Japanese capital. Therefore, it could be seen that the Japanese fisheries companies had stronger dominance in the fisheries sector than the Chosun fisheries companies during the Japanese occupation period, and that Japanese fisheries companies were more viable than Chosun fisheries companies.

Osteomyelitis in the oral and maxillofacial area is a relatively uncommon inflammatory disease that occurs due to odontogenic causes such as endodontic infection, facial trauma, insufficient blood supply caused by some medical conditions, and iatrogenic postoperative infections. Among them, the incidence rate of candida osteomyelitis in this area is minimal; therefore, no consensus on the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis has not been established yet. With the increasing number of immunocompromised elderly patients, candida osteomyelitis of the jaw is expected to become more prevalent. In this case report, we present an 81-year-old male patient with candida osteomyelitis of the jaw, including the maxillary and ethmoid sinuses.

Definitive chemoradiotherapy (CRT) with its significant efficacy and safety in esophageal cancer is reserved for patients with unresectable tumor or those who decline surgery. However, the incidence of locoregional failure or recurrence after definitive CRT remains high. Although esophagectomy is the standard treatment for locoregional failure or recurrence, this approach is associated with high mortality and morbidity. A 56-year-old man diagnosed with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma who refused to undergo surgery received definitive CRT. An endoscopy for response assessment performed after 2 months revealed a residual lesion, which was completely resected by salvage endoscopic submucosal dissection. To the best of our knowledge, endoscopic resection in locoregional failure or recurrence after definitive CRT is very rarely reported, and there are no guidelines or consensus to date. Here, we report a case of successful salvage endoscopic resection of residual lesion after definitive CRT.
