콘크리트 구조물의 염화물 침투 특성 파악을 위한 변색법의 적용성 (Applicability of Colormetric Method for Estimation of Chloride Penetration in Concrete Structures)

  • RC 구조물이 해양 환경에 장기간 노출된 콘크리트 안의 철근은 해수에 포함된 염화물 이온의 침투에 의해 부식하게 된다. 염화물 이온에 의한 철근의 부식 피해는 매우 다양하기 때문에, 많은 연구들이 수행되어 왔다. 염화물 이온의 침투깊이를 쉽게 측정할 수 있는 질산은 변색법이 최근 많이 사용되고 있다. 그러나, 질산은 변색법의 특성이 완전히 파악되지 않은 채 사용되고 있는 실정이다. 그러므로 본 연구의 목적은 변색법의 적용성을 조사하는데 있다. 이러한 목적을 가지고 변색법의 메커니즘과 영향인자에 대하여 파악하고자 하였다. 변색법 실험 결과에 따르면, 콘크리트 할렬면에 질산은이 분무될 때, AgCl의 흰색반응과 AgOH의 갈색 반응, 두 반응이 발생한다. 또한, 반응 속도 상수비는 흰색 반응, 즉 AgCl이 3240배 빠르게 반응하는 것으로 나타났다. 변색 법을 콘크리트에 적용할 경우, 0.05N 이상의 질산은 용액을 분무하는 것이 바람직하다. 현장 콘크리트 구조물에 있어 변색법은 염화물을 평가하는데 유용한 방법이다. 변색 구간에서의 평균 염화물량 값은 콘크리트 단위중량 당 $0.9kg/m^3$으로 나타났다.

  • The studies on chloride diffusion of concrete have been done so far by many researchers. However, there are few studies that present the effects of other attacks on chloride diffusion properties. Therefore, in this study the experiments are carried out to show the effects of combined attacks, such as carbonation, sulfate attacks, on chloride diffusivity in concrete. The specimens are made by varying cement type and replacement ratio of fly ash. The results show that cement type and replacement of fly ash do not affect greatly chloride diffusion properties. And concrete treated by combined attacks show a little higher chloride content than those treated by chloride solution only. Therefore, the effects of these factors should be taken into account in predicting the penetration of chloride ion in concrete.

  • Test results on the deterioration process of concrete under single and combined attacks of chloride penetration have been obtained. After test period of 52 weeks, it is found that the internally penetrated chloride ion contents are less in the single attacks of chloride than the combined attacks of chloride and sulfate. Both the diffusion coefficients and surface chloride concentration derived form the chloride profiles showed a time dependence. Also the performance of fly ash-blended cements was observed to be better than plain cements in retarding chloride attack. However it should be needed that improved chloride diffusion model for the combined deterioration process.

  • Corrosion inhibitors are widely used to protect chloride-induced corrosion of reinforcement in concrete. However, the number of researches on the corrosion of reinforcement, when corrosion inhibitor is used, is not enough for actual application in the field. In addition, on corrosion of reinforcement a quantitative standard about corrosion inhibitor does not exist and the data about its influencing concrete are relatively rare. In this study, the effectiveness of rebar corrosion protection, setting time, compressive strength, chloride ion's penetration, and diffusion test were performed using with three different kinds of corrosion inhibitors.

  • The studies on chloride diffusion of concrete have been done so far by many researchers. However, there are few studies on the effects of other attacks, like carbonation, on chloride diffusion properties. In this study, the experiments are carried out focusing on this by varying cement type, water to cement ratio and replacement of fly ash of concrete. The results show that carbonation attacks do not affect greatly chloride diffusion properties of plain concrete, while the different tendencies are exhibited for fly ash concrete. Therefore, it is desirable to consider the effects of carbonation attacks on the chloride diffusion model to predict accurately the penetration of chloride ion fly ash is partially replaced for cement.

동슬래그 및 자철석을 골재로 사용한 중량 콘크리트의 회파블록 적용을 위한 염해저항성 평가 (Evaluation of Chloride Attack Resistibility of Heavyweight Concrete Using Copper Slag and Magnetite as Aggregate)

  • 최근 국내에서는 다양한 형태로 연안이 개발되고 있다. 이에 따라 안전사고를 예방하고 경관을 저해시키지 않는 새로운 소파블록의 개발이 요구되고 있다. 회파블록은 상부가 평탄하여 친수공간으로 활용이 가능하지만, 구조 내부에 존재하는 회파관으로 인해 중량손실이 발생한다. 따라서 이에 대응하기 위해 중량콘크리트를 사용하여 파랑 저항성을 상승시킬 필요성이 있다. 이러한 목적을 위하여 본 연구에서는 동슬래그 및 자철석을 골재로 사용한 중량 콘크리트를 개발하고 이의 염해저항성을 평가하였다. 연구 결과에 따르면, 일반 골재와 중량골재를 각각 혼입한 콘크리트의 28일 압축강도는 큰 차이가 발생하지 않았으나, ASTM C1202에 의한 염소이온침투저항성 시험 시 자철석을 혼입한 콘크리트는 과도한 전류의 흐름으로 평가가 불가능한 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 염소이온의 침투깊이를 이용하는 NT Build 492 시험에서는 ASTM C 1202 시험법에서 관찰된 문제점 없이 실험 진행이 가능하였고, 동슬래그, 자철석을 골재로 사용한 중량 콘크리트의 염소이온침투저항성이 가장 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 동슬래그 및 자철석을 골재로 사용한 중량콘크리트는 회파블록에 적용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

Durability characteristics of recycled aggregate concrete

  • People started to replace natural aggregate with recycled aggregate for a number of years due to disposal problem and certain other potential benefits. Though there are number of drawbacks with use of recycled aggregates like lesser modulus of elasticity, low compressive strength, increase in shrinkage, there are results of earlier studies that use of chemical and mineral admixtures improves the strength and durability of recycled concrete. The use of recycled aggregate from construction and demolition wastes is showing prospective application in construction as alternative to natural aggregates. It conserves lot of natural resources and reduces the space required for the landfill disposal. In the present research work, the effect of recycled aggregate on strength and durability aspects of concrete is studied. Grade of concrete chosen for the present work is M50 (with a characteristic compressive strength of 50 MPa). The recycled aggregates were collected from demolished structure with 20 years of age. Natural Aggregate (NA) was replaced with Recycled Aggregate (RA) in different percentages such as 25, 50 and 100 to understand its effect. The experiments were conducted for different ages of concrete such as 7, 14, 28, 56 days to assess the compressive and tensile strength. Durability characteristics of recycled aggregate concrete were studied with Rapid chloride penetration test (as per ASTMC1202), sorptivity test and acid test to assess resistance against chloride ion penetration, capillary suction and chemical attack respectively. Mix design for 50 MPa gives around 35 MPa after replacing natural aggregate with recycled aggregate in concrete mix and the chloride penetration range also lies in moderate limit. Hence it is understood from the results that replacement of NA with RA is very much possible and will be ecofriendly.

  • The evaluation of Single or multi-degregation of concrete coated by high performance surface penetration agency was examined through various tests, i.e., carbonation, absorption, carbonation + chloride ion and carbonation + chemical solution according to various high performance surface penetration agencies and various compressive strengths of base concrete. The 2 types of high performance surface penetration agencies were used i.e., inorganic and alcohol soluble. And 2 types of compressive strength of base concrete were used such as 21 30. MPa. The characteristics of concrete coated high performance surface penetration agency was more improved than that of non-coated concrete, and especially, water soluble inorganic agency was most effective. And if compressive strength of base concrete was low, the improved effects would be larger.

반응표면 분석법을 이용한 천연마섬유보강 순환굵은골재 콘크리트의 성능 평가 (Performance Evaluation of Natural Jute Fiber Reinforced Recycled Coarse Aggregate Concrete Using Response Surface Method)

  • In this study, evaluated ware the strength and durability of the vegetated water purification channel concrete to which recycled aggregates, hawang-toh and jute were applied. Box-Behnken method of response surface analysis in statistics was applied to the experimental design. Experimental variables are as follows, recycled coarse aggregates, hawang-toh, blast-furnace slag and jute fiber. In the experiment, conducted were the tests of compressive strength, chloride ion penetration, abrasion resistance and impact resistance the replacement rate effects of the recycled aggregates, blast-furnace slag and hwang-toh on the performance of vegetated water purification channel concrete were analyzed by using the response surface analysis method on the basis of the experimental results. In addition, an optimum mixing ratio of vegetated water purification channel concrete was determined by using the experimental results. The optimum mixing ratio was determined to be in 10.0% recycled coarse aggregates, 60.0% blast-furnace slag, 10.1% hwang-toh and 0.16% jute fiber. The compressive strength, chloride ion penetration, abrasion rate, and impact number of fracture test results of the optimum mixing ratio were 24.1 MPa, 999 coulombs, 10.30 g/mm3, and 20 number, respectively.

순환골재를 활용한 포장용 시멘트콘크리트의 최적배합 도출을 위한 기초 연구 (Fundamental Study on Optimum Mixing Proportion of Cement Concrete Pavement using Recycled Aggregate)

  • OBJECTIVES : This study is to develop the optimum mixing proportions for cement concrete pavement with using recycled aggregates. METHODS : The mixture varied recycled coarse aggregates content from 50 % to 100 % to replace the natural coarse aggregates by weight. Tests for fundamental properties as a cement concrete pavement were conducted before and after hardening of the concrete. RESULTS : It was found that the variation in the amount of the recycled aggregate affected the compressive and flexural strength development, as well as the chloride ion penetration resistance. As the amount of the recycled aggregate content increased the compressive and flexural strength and the resistance to chloride ion penetration decreased. However, the resistance to freeze-thaw reaction was affected significantly. In addition, the gradation of the aggregate became worse and hence so did the coarseness factor as the recycled aggregate amount increased. CONCLUSIONS : The fundamental properties of the concrete with recycled aggregate does not seem to be appropriate when the recycled aggregate quality is not guaranteed up to a some level and its replacement ratio is over 50%. The optimized gradation of the aggregates should also be sought when the recycled aggregate is used for the cement concrete pavement materials.
