  • Fly ash(FA) which is a byproduct in the coal combustion in thermal power plant contributes to pore structure densification due to pozzolanic reaction, and this leads to long-term strength development and excellent resistance to chloride penetration. In the work, compressive strength and chloride resistance in OPC(Ordinary Portland Cement) and FA-based concrete are evaluated, and the relationships are investigated considering ages. For the work, 3 different W/B (Water to Binder) ratios of 37%, 42%, and 47% are prepared, and 3 substitution ratio of fly ash(0%, 30%, and 50%) are considered as well. At the age of 28 days and 180 days, test results of compressive strength, diffusion coefficients based on Tang's method, and passed charges referred to ASTM C 1202 and KS F 2711 are obtained. With increasing replacement ratio of FA and decreasing W/B, the resistances to chlorides(diffusion coefficient and passed charge) are improved, and the results at the age of 180 days decrease to only 15% level at the age of 28 days due to pozzolanic reaction in FA 50 mixture, which shows that resistance to chloride is much dependent on age effect than strength development. After 180 days, more clear linear relationships are observed between strength and resistance to chloride.

  • The RC buildings which are constructed on the seaside are followed by KBC(2016) to achieve the minimization of durability damage. To control the corrosion of the reinforcing steel bar by salt attack, W/C should be under 0.4 and specified concrete strength is higher than 35MPa in the concrete/building construction standard specification. Even though it has been proved that the concrete mixed with mineral admixture such as blast furnace slag and fly ash etc. have high strength and durability in previous researches, the beneficial informations are not applied to the codes. Ready-mixed concretes which usually include the admixtures in Busan were tested to certify the salt attack durability. In the same specified concrete strength, remarkable salt attack durability was evaluated in comparison to OPC. For economical and reliable durability design, chloride ion diffusivity should be measured before applying to new building construction.

  • Chloride attack, one of the major deterioration phenomena in RC(Reinforced Concrete) structure, causes corrosion of reinforcement, and this leads degradation of serviceability and structural problems. The application of silicate based impregnant to concrete surface are known for excellent constructability and cost-benefit for the maintenance of RC structure. In the work, the compressive strength and resistance of chloride diffusion for concrete were evaluated after improving property of concrete surface through two types of silicate based impregnant. Furthermore, based on the previous research and the result from the work, service life analysis was performed. After impregnating of silicate, strength and resistance of chloride diffusion were remarkably improved, and the service life increase to 159% for silicate A impregnation and 304% for silicate B impregnation, respectively.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze steel corrosion resistance of concrete containing copper slag. The specimens were made with normal portland cement and pozzolan materials with various replacement ratio and with W/B ratio ranging from 35% to 55%. Compressive strength, coefficient of chloride diffusion, corrosion area ratio and weight reduction ratio were determinated for the test. The results show that the concrete with pozzolan materials is superior resistant to chloride ions compared to the concrete without pozzolan materials. It was observed that blast furnace slag replacement ratio of 20% gives the best results with respect to chloride ion penetration and corrosion tests and observed that copper slag replacement ratio of 10% gives the seperior resistance compared to normal concrete.

  • Chloride-induced corrosion of steel bars in concrete exposed to marine environments has become one of the major causes of deterioration in many important facilities made of reinforced concrete. A study on chloride penetration in concrete has developed through long period exposure test along seawater, assesment of chloride ion diffusion by electrochemical techniques and so on. However, reasonable and exclusive chloride penetration model considering concrete material properties with mixture, degree of hydration, binding capacity has not been established. Therefore, in this paper, chloride penetration analysis of non-steady state is accomplished with material properties of concrete. Comparing with the results of analysis and chloride ponding test, we could accept the effect of binding capacity on chloride penetration in concrete and these results could be applied to a service life prediction of R.C. structures submerged in seawater. Therefore, there are 20~40% differences of service life to SHRP prediction.

  • Undoped InP epilayers with high purity were grown by using $In/PCl_3/H_2$ chloride vapor phase epitaxy. It was found that the growth of InP homoepitaxial layer is optimized at the growth temperature of $630^{\circ}C$ and at the $PCl_3$ molar fraction of $1.2\times10^{-2}$. The carrier concentration of InP epilayer was less than $10^{14} {cm}^{-3}$ from the low temperature (11K) photoluminescence measurement. Growth behavior of undoped InP current blocking layer on reactive ion-etched (RIE) mesas has been investigated for the realization of 1.55 $\mu \textrm m$buried-heterostructure laser diode (BH LD), using chloride vapor phase epitaxy. On the base of InP homoepitaxy, InP current blocking layers were grown at the growth temperatures ranging from $620^{\circ}C$ to $640^{\circ}C$. Almost planar grown surfaces without edge overgrowth were achieved as the growth temperature increased. It implied that higher temperature enhanced the surface diffusion of the growth species on the {111} B planes and suppressed edge overgrowth.

  • In this study. a micro-corrosion model of steel in RC structure is established for micro-structure development in view to micro-mechanics and the model is composed of chloride penetration model and oxygen diffusion model to evaluate for corrosion rate and accumulated corrosion amounts. Also the model is composed of corrosion-cracking model for prediction of corrosion-cracking. The time and space dependent induced corrosion-cracking of RC structures including changes of corrosion rates and concentrations of chloride ion are simulated using the finite element analysis adopted the proposed model Then, results of the analysis are compared with test results for verification.

  • There is high probability of steel corrosion on the reinforced concrete exposed to marine environment by penetration of chloride ion. When making concrete structure with slag as admixture in marine environment, salt damage can be prevented. Therefore, this paper presents experimental results of steel corrosion resistance of slag concrete considering marine environment through half-cell potential method which is one of the nondestructive test. As a result of half-cell potential experiment, it was assumed that every specimen exposed to marine environment was not corroded, and as a result of destroying specimens, it was confirmed that there was no corrosion in specimens.

  • In the case of construction under the marine environment the durability of concrete structures is everely deteriorated by the penetration of salts which results in the corrosion of reinforcing steel. To verify the effect of corrosion protection of reinforcing steel by isolating the penetration of chlorideion this study investigated the bond strength between painting material and concrete, the degree of the penetration-diffusion of chloride ion and the accelerated corrosion test using different potential. Results show that the painted concrete has little the penetration-diffusion of cholride and the reinforcing steel in painted concrete is little corroding.
