According to the results of the groundwater quality investigation about 230 holes all over the country, the groundwater which was in excess of standard grows larger every year and closed holes increased to 23,457 holes in 1997 from 15,724 holes in 1996. This is the major reasons that water quality contamination, shortage of water quantity, increasing of salinity and so on. There are 7 groundwater salinization sources which are condisered as most important on a regional level. And among theses the Cheju Island groundwater salinization sources are (1) halite solution, (2) natural saline groundwater, (3) sea-water intrusion. The method of taking an isotopes is one of research methods of the origin of groundwater salinization and is used in so many studies because it has very high confidence. $^{18O}O, ^2H, ^3H, ^{14}C$ and so on in an isotopes are frequently used in the method of them. Consequently on this study we analyzed major ions and $^3H$ in groundwater, sea-water and rain of the eastern part of cheju island known as contaminated site from long time ago to examine the origin of groundwater salinization. Relation ratios of the major ions versus chloride ion shows similar tendency to sea-water. This indicates that sea-water entered the groundwater layer. And amount of $^3H$ in holes of the land side is higher than of the sea side. Relation of chloride ion versus $^3$H indicates negative character. Therefore we can think that the reason of groundwater salinization of this part is natural saline groundwater and halite solution by relation.
The present study was conducted for the purpose of analyzing the growth response of Dracaena braunii treated with chloride ions and to evaluate its salt tolerance. Distilled water (CON) was spiked with 1 (C1), 2 (C2), 5 (C5), 10 (C10) and 15 g/L (C15) $CaCl_2$, respectively. Acidity (pH) and electrical conductivity of hydroponic solution, and leaf width, leaf length, root length, number of leaves, fresh weight, dry weight and the water content of Dracaena braunii were measured. Acidity and electrical conductivity remarkably increased commensurate with increasing concentrations of $CaCl_2$. Growth in the C1 treatment was better than that in CON, whereas the C10 or C15 treatments caused either slow growth or withering of the plants. Fresh weight, dry weight and water content were significantly decreased in response to $CaCl_2$ concentration, compared with those in the control. These results showed that $CaCl_2$ concentration less than 1 g/L may be used as a hydroponic solution for D. braunii, as long as the water quality is not too saline. The chlorine ion has a negative effect on the growth.
Only trace amounts of hydroxide ion can be extracted from aqueous phase into organic phase by Tetra-n-Butyl Ammonium Chloride(TBAC). Addition of small amounts of primary alcohols, particularly certain dials, dramatically changes the behavior of Phase Transfer Catalysis systems, and surprising amounts of base can be found in the organic phase. Quantitative measurements were carried out for the extraction amounts of primary alkoxides, secondary alkoxides, and diol anions into organic phase. On the other hand, the selectivity constants for extraction of primary alcohols and benzylalcohol could be separated to the equilibrium constants of the ion pairs such as $Q^+RO^-$ and $Q^+Cl^-$ in the aqueous and organic phases and this distribution coefficients between phases on anions respectively. In a word, the colligated property for the selectivity of $Q^+RO^-$ in which $Q^+$ is quaternary cation and $RO^-$ alkoxide ion could be discussed in more detail by using of the corresponding free energies to the various constants mentioned.

Fiber reinforcement has been being widely used in concrete to enhance the mechanical properties and to reduce the micro-cracking caused by plastic and drying shrinkage. While researches has been focused on the benefits of fiber reinforcement, the properties of fiber reinforced concrete are strongly dependent on the type, shape and the amount of fibers in concrete. In this study, the resistance of nylon fiber reinforced concrete against the chloride ion penetration was experimentally observed by NT Build 492. The test results showed that the addition of nylon fiber has little effect on the change of the resistivity of concrete to the chloride ion penetration.
Solvent extraction experiments have been performed to separate copper from $CuCl_2$-$NiCl_2$-$CoCl_2$$ solutions using Alamine336 and LIX84. The complex formation tendency between metal ions and chloride ion had a great effect on the distribution coefficients of Cu, Co and Ni ions and separation factor of Cu to Co and Ni. In the experimental ranges of chloride ion concentration from 0.5 to 4.0 M, LIX84 was superior to Alamine336 in separating copper from cobalt. When the volume percentage of LIX84 and Alamine336 was varied from 5 to 40%, LIX84 was more effective than Alamine336 in separating Cu from Co and Ni in solutions in which the chloride ion concentration was 1.0 M.
This study was carried out in order to define the effective collectors and the opitimum conditions for the removal of iron ion in waste water by flotation method. The results obtained in this study are summarized as follows. Fe(II) and Fe(III) were removed effectively at pH7 and 6 respectively by using sodium lauryl sulfate, an anionic collector. The anionic collector, aeropromotor 845, removed both Fe(II) and Fe(III) effectively in pH ranges of from 5 to 9. The cationic collector, trimetyl dodecyl ammonium chloride, removed both Fe(II) and Fe(III) effectively in pH ranges from 10 to 11 and from 4 to 10, respectively. Therefore, Fe(II) and Fe(III) could be effectively removed by forming the iron hydroxide precipitates by simple pH adjustment of the solutions above precipitation point of ferrous and ferric ion by flotation method. Then, the effective pH regulator and collector were NaOH and $Na_2CO_3$,aeropromotor 845 and trimetyl dodecyl ammonium chloride, respectively.
The repassivation characteristics of Fe-Cr steels in deaerated 0.1 M $Na_2SO_4$ solution have been investigated with the variation of Cr content, applied potential and Cl- concentration. In the absence of chloride ion, abrading electrode test showed that, slope -n, of log i=k -n log t, a parameter of repassivation rate, approached to -1, regardless of Cr content but as Cr content increased, repassivation current density decreases with increasing Cr content. A.C. Impedance spectroscopy showed that the charge transfer resistance of passive film became higher as Cr content and applied potential increased. However, in the presence of chloride ion, it was observed that chloride ion suppressed the passive film formation, whose effect became greater with increasing applied potential.

Generally, reinforced concrete is one of the most commonly used structural materials and it prevents corrosion of steel bar by high pH of interior, But, as time elapsed, reinforced concrete structure become deteriorated by many of combined deterioration factors and environmental conditions. And, there are large number of deteriorate mechanism of the reinforced concrete structure and it acts complexly. It is recognized that steel bar corrosion is the main distress behind the present concern regarding concrete durability. In this study, to institute combined deterioration environments, established acceleration condition and cycle for combined deterioration environments has a resemblance to environments which are real structures placed. After that to confirm corrosion properties of reinforced concrete due to permeability with covering depth and types of surface cover under combined deterioration environments, measured carbonation velocity coefficients, chloride ion diffusion coefficients, water absorption coefficients, air permeability coefficients and electric potential, corrosion area ratio, weight reduction, corrosion velocity of steel bar. The results showed that an increase in age also decrease carbonation velocity coefficients, increase Chloride ion diffusion coefficients and increases water absorption coefficients. As well, an increase in age also increases corrosion of steel bar. Data on the development of corrosion velocity of steel bar with types of surface cover made with none, organic B, organic A, inorganic B, and inorganic A is shown. As well, permeability and corrosion velocity of steel bar with covering depth is superior to 10mm than 20mm. And it is confirmed permeability and corrosion properties of steel bar are closely related.

The RC buildings which are constructed on the seaside are followed by KBC(2016) to achieve the minimization of durability damage. To control the corrosion of the reinforcing steel bar by salt attack, W/C should be under 0.4 and specified concrete strength is higher than 35MPa in the concrete/building construction standard specification. Even though it has been proved that the concrete mixed with mineral admixture such as blast furnace slag and fly ash etc. have high strength and durability in previous researches, the beneficial informations are not applied to the codes. Ready-mixed concretes which usually include the admixtures in Busan were tested to certify the salt attack durability. In the same specified concrete strength, remarkable salt attack durability was evaluated in comparison to OPC. For economical and reliable durability design, chloride ion diffusivity should be measured before applying to new building construction.

Self-compacting concretes (SCC) are highly fluid concrete which can flow without any vibration. Their composition requires a large quantity of fines to limit the risk of bleeding and segregation. The use of crushed sand rich in limestone fines could be an adequate solution for both economic and environmental reasons. This paper investigates the influence of quarry limestone fines from manufactured crushed sand on rheological, mechanical and durability properties of SCC. For this purpose, five mixtures of SCC with different limestone fines content as substitution of crushed sand (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20%) were prepared at constant water-to-cement ratio of 0.40 and $490kg/m^3$ of cement content. Fresh SCC mixtures were tested by slump flow test, V-funnel flow time test, L-box height ratio, segregation resistance and rheological test using a rheometer. Compressive and flexural strengths of SCC mixtures were evaluated at 28 days. Regarding durability properties, total porosity, capillary water absorption and chloride-ion migration were studied at 180 days. For the two test modes in fresh state, the results indicated compatibility between slump flow/yield stress (${\tau}_0$) and V-funnel flow time/plastic viscosity (${\mu}$). Increasing the substitution level of limestone fines in SCC mixtures, contributes to the decrease of the slump flow and the yield stress. All SCC mixtures investigated achieved adequate filling, adequate passing ability and exhibit no segregation. Moreover, the inclusion of limestone fines as crushed sand substitution reduces the capillary water absorption, chloride-ion migration and consequently enhances the durability performance.
