염화 제2수은이 흰쥐 간장에서의 지질 과산화와 Oxygen Free Radical 제거 효소 활성도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Mercuric Chloride on the Lipid Peroxidation and Oxygen Free Radical scavenging Enzymes Activities in the Liver of Rats)

  • Wistar albino rats were injected subcutaneously with mercuric chloride (5 mg/kg) to define the early biochemical determinants that participate in the pathogenesis of mercuric chloride-induced hepatotoxicity, especially focusing on oxygen free radicals, we studied malondialdehyde(MDA) level and the activities of catalase and superoxide dismutase in the liver of rats at 24, 48 and 72 hr after the injection of mercuric chloride. MDA levels at 24, 48 and 72 hr after the injection of mercuric chloride increased as compared with that of control group. The activities of catalase and superoxide dismutase at 24, 48 and 72hr after the injection of mercuric chloride decreased as compared with that of control group. These results suggest that the depression of the activities of catalase and superoxide dismutase resulting from excessive oxygen free radicals is an important determinant in pathogenesis of mercuric chloride-induced hepatotoxicity.

  • Test results on the deterioration process of concrete under single and combined attacks of chloride penetration have been obtained. After test period of 52 weeks, it is found that the internally penetrated chloride ion contents are less in the single attacks of chloride than the combined attacks of chloride and sulfate. Both the diffusion coefficients and surface chloride concentration derived form the chloride profiles showed a time dependence. Also the performance of fly ash-blended cements was observed to be better than plain cements in retarding chloride attack. However it should be needed that improved chloride diffusion model for the combined deterioration process.

  • The chloride ion penetrating into concrete is classified as the fixed chloride ion being bound in reacting to cement hydrate and the free chloride ion having a direct effect on rebar corrosion because being in solution inside porosity of concrete. Therefore, in order to study the diffusion properties of chloride ion, it is needed to evaluate binding chloride ion in concrete. In this study, we tried to give a fundamental information on diffusion of chloride ion in concrete with mineral admixtures through analysis of micro-structure transformations in concrete and effects on binding of chloride ion in cement paste when mixed with fly-ash, blast furnace slag, silica fume etc. which are used to improve durability and permeability of concrete

  • Ultrastructural changes of chloride cells in the gill from seawater-adapted killifish (Orizias latipes) were studied with a transmission electronmicroscope. Chloride cells contain many mitochondria and specifically developed tubular systems. Apical pits, formed by several neighboring chloride cells, were exposed to the environment. Degeneration and death of the chloride cells by apoptosis occurred more frequently than by necrosis. Apoptotic chloride cells shrank, became to apoptotic bodies, and eventually were phagocytosed and digested by the microphages around them. We conclude that apoptosis plays an important role in increased cellular turnover of chloride cells for the osmoregulation caused by changes in salinity of the environment.

  • An increase of concrete construction in marine environments as well as an increasing use of marine aggregate at the mixing stage of concrete has provoked an important problem. A high concentration of chloride ion in the vicinity of steel bars in concrete is the principal cause of premature reinforcement corrosion in concrete structures. In this study, the behavior of chloride ions introduced into concrete from concrete surface by marine evironment was analysed. A mathematical model including the diffusion of chloride ion in aqueous phase of pores, the adsorption and desorption of chloride ions to and from the surface of solid phase of concrete and the chemical reactions of chloride ions with solid phase was presented. Finite element method was employed to carry out numerical analysis. The results of this study may be used to predict the onset of reinforcement corrosion and to identify the maximum limit of chloride ions contained in concrete admixtures.

  • The study is used to verify the applicability of the sensor to monitor penetration of chloride into the concrete, like real coastal environment. After manufacturing the specimen adapt corrosion sensor for chloride penetration monitoring, chloride spray experiment was conducted. And then, It was checked the possibility of monitoring of the penetrated chloride by measuring the resistance of the corrosion sensor that was embedded in each depth of the concrete. Experimental results, it is confirmed that the corrosion resistance of the sensor was increased depending on the concentration of chloride. Therefore, it is estimated that the sensor is available for monitoring of chloride penetration.

  • In this study, to confirm the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion is affected by the concentration of NaCl solution, capacity of voltage, time of an electric current, the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion in concrete was investigated through an electrochemical accelerated test. and the results of these test were compared with the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion by test of sodium chloride solution digestion. As the results of this study, the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion wasn't affected by the concentration of NaCl solution, capacity of voltage, time of an electric current within the range of this study and was similar to the diffusion coefficient of chloride ion by test of sodium chloride solution digestion.

  • Recently, the premature corrosion for reinforced concrete structure exposed to chloride bring about a serious problem in concrete structures. Specially, the concrete structures of sea coast are exposed much to chloride which make rapid corrosion. Thus, construction activities and maintenances for marine facilities are more demanded than those for land structures. The results of this study have been analysed to identify the extent of chloride content and incidence of carbonation for construction age. After measuring chloride content in concrete, it was conclued that about 90% of all tests on concrete samples exceed the acceptable maximum limit to risk of chloride-induced carbonation. The carbonation rate coffnient by age of train structures in the east eatimated 6. 55, 4.76 grater than 3. 727. In the basis of this result, it is necessary to maintenance for the important train facilities with the regular tests of chloride and carbonation.

  • In this study, the device was developed for evaluating the effect of pressure on chloride ion penetration of concrete. And chloride-ion penetration depth and water soluble chloride contents was evaluated concrete using ordinary portland cement and blast-furnace slag cement using developed device. As a result, chloride ion penetration of concrete was promoted according to the action of pressure and the exposure period. and the incorporation of blast-furnace slag was effective for chloride attack resistibility under pressure.
