The purpose of this study is to examine children's/adolescents' motives for playing internet games and adaptation to school in accordance with their frequency levels of playing internet games. Participants were 236 children from grades 4, 5, and 6 in two elementary schools and 237 adolescents from grades 1, 2, and 3 in one middle school. They were measured on frequency levels of playing internet games, motives for playing internet games, and adaptation to school. Collected data were analyzed by SPSS WIN 12.0 for reliability, frequency, Chi-square test, t-test, Pearson's correlation, and one way ANOVA. Major findings of the research are as follows: First, children's/adolescents' frequency levels of playing internet games differed by their gender. The male ratio was much higher than the female ratio in the potential risk group and the high risk poop. In contrast, no grade differences on the frequency levels of playing internet games were found. Second, children's/adolescents' motives for playing internet games differed by their gender. Especially, among the motives the greatest difference between male and female was marked for 'Social Relationship'. Third, children's/adolescents' motives for playing internet games differed by their frequency levels of playing internet games. For 'Conformity,' the low risk group differed from the high risk group. For 'Spending Time', 'Benefit', 'Competition', and 'Social Relationship', the low risk group differed from the potential risk group and also from the high risk poop. Fourth, children's/adolescents' adaptation to school differed by their frequency levels of playing internet games. The high risk group exhibited a low level of adaptation in 'Academic Activities', 'a subcategory of adaptation to school.
A survey analysis of home video games was carried out for 1,018 elementary school children. Children responded to a questionnaire consisting of sociodemographic variables, degree of game participation(frequency and mean time), control behavior(eg. resting during games, lightening interior), and physical symptoms(eg. eyestrain, headache, trembling, paralyses) during and/or after playing games. Statistical analysis was done by frequency, percentile, and chitest. The results showed that many children enjoyed video games frequently and played continually, that few children did control behavior during games. Main variables related to degree of game playing and control behavior were sex, game experience, parent's education, and mother's activity. In particular, the results implied that the level of physical symptoms during and/or after game differed by lighting factors.
The 90 children in this study were grouped with 30 each in the experimental group, and the 2 comparison groups. Research methods over 8 weeks were in the sequence starting from teacher/assistant teacher education, then pretest, followed by development-adaptation of experimental model of math games, and post-test. The experimental group conducted child-initiated math games, comparison group I children proceeded with teacher-initiated math games, and comparison group II children proceeded with co-initiated math games. Statistical evaluation was by ANOVA and ANCOVA. Findings were that the child-initiated math game group scored higher on children's mathematical ability than the two comparison groups. Boys in the experimental group scored higher on children's mathematical ability than girls.

Children interest themselves in all different toys they see, before beginning to speak. The psychological reasons for children′s interest in toys have been investigated for a long time. Thus many scientists have studied on the question "what is game?", but they have not reached a consensus yet. Such contradiction may be dependent upon different points of view of the researchers about game. Besides, the view of game of a child and an adult is different too. According to an adult game is a rebirth and escape from monotony. For child it is a work. The aim of this study is to make mathematics regarding a mass of abstract concepts for the students of grade 1-3 of primary school in the concrete operations period, more attractive with the help of educational and instructional games, and to contribute to student′s developing. The capability of thinking and producing by changing abstract concepts into concrete ones.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the types of children's strategic thinking in the board games. Subject were 98 5-7-year-old children were participated in this study. Children divided by age were provided the same board game. Strategies used by the children to play the game were classified by age. The observational results were as follow; 1)Children used 9 strategies. Comparing to Kamii's study, children utilized 2 more strategic thinking. 2)Children used different game strategies based on children's age. Results showed that game strategies differentiated by child's age: five-year-olds used fewer strategies and older children applied a wider range of strategies.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a group training program designed to control the desire for internet games and to promote self-efficacy and alternative activities. The subjects participating in this study were 32 fifth graders, divided into the experimental group of 16 and the control group of 16, who were carefully selected from 175 children in the fifth grade in S elementary school in J city.
