  • Decision tree algorithms are used extensively for data mining in many domains such as retail target marketing, fraud dection, data reduction and variable screening, etc. CHAID(Chi-square Automatic Interaction Detector), is an exploratory method used to study the relationship between a dependent variable and a series of predictor variables. In this paper we propose and CHAID algorithm by cube-based sampling and explore CHAID algorithm in view of accuracy and speed by the number of variables.

  • If a restriction is imposed only to a (proper) subset of parameters of interest, we call it a local restriction. Statistical inference under a local restriction in multinomial setting is studied. The maximum likelihood estimation under a local restriction and likelihood ratio tests for and against a local restriction are discussed. A real data is analyzed for illustrative purpose.

  • We suggest methods to measure the changes in $x^2$ statistic when a row is deleted from a two-way contingency table. The influence function is extended and the deletion method is applied. Two examples are presented and we compare the results obtained from the influence function method and the deletion method.

  • The purpose of this study is to inquire management satisfaction factors of cook, and to grope for the correlation of career, number of cook, income, and education. To attain the purpose of this study, questionnaire was developed through pilot test. Questionnaire scale was adopted 5 point. The SPSS package was utilized for the analyses of questionnaire. The method was Frequency analysis and Chi Square analysis. The results obtained from the above data-based analysis are concentrated on management satisfaction to cook, and management recruiting method.

  • A representation for the Drazin inverse of an arbitrary square matrix in terms of the eigenprojection was established by Rothblum [SIAM J. Appl. Math., 31(1976) :646-648]. In this paper perturbation results based on the representation for the Darzin inverse $A^D\;=\;(A-X)^{-1}(I-X)$ are developed. Norm estimates of $\parallel(A+E)^D-A^D\parallel_2/\parallel A^D\parallel_2$ and $\parallel(A+E)^#-A^D\parallel_2/\parallel A^D\parallel_2$ are derived when IIEI12 is small.

  • A class of standard optimization techniques to estimate the stationary transition probabilities among states is discussed. With the use of aggregate time series data on employed labor in industrial sectors, the alternative restricted estimates including minimum absolute deviation, unweighted, weighted, generalized inverse, minimum chi-square and maximum likelihood are evaluated and compared. Analytic and numerical results are shown favorably with the viewpoint of the validity and predictive potentiality of model.

  • A phase III clinical trial of a new drug for neutropenia induced by chemotherapy is presented and consider adding random effects in crossover design which was used in the clinical study. The diagnostics for its heteroscedasticity based on score statistic is derived for detecting homoscedasticity of errors in crossover design. A small simulation study is peformed to investigate the finite sample behaviour of the test statistic which is known to have an asymptotic chi-square distribution under the null hypothesis.

  • In this paper, we study the divergence based goodness of fit test for partially observed sample from diffusion processes. In order to derive the limiting distribution of the test, we study the asymptotic behavior of the residual empirical process based on the observed sample. It is shown that the residual empirical process converges weakly to a Brownian bridge and the associated phi-divergence test has a chi-square limiting null distribution.

  • A random effects model of a one-way layout contingency table is developed using a Dirichlet-multinomial distribution. A test statistic, say $T_k$, is suggested for detecting Dirichlet-multinomial departure from a multinomial distribution. It is shown that the $T_k$ test is asymptotically superior to the classical chi-square test based on the asymptotic relative efficiency. This superiority is further evidenced by a Monte Carlo simulation.
