Purpose: This research aims to examine gender preferences for men and women advertising models in Saudi advertisements. Saudi Arabia is known as one of the most gender-segregated society in the world, and it has gender-specific roles, characteristics, and behaviors that are undesirable for the other gender. Methodology: The questionnaire was developed with the help of earlier studies on perceptions towards advertising models and validated by a jury of experts and focus groups. The gender preferences for ten product categories (including automobiles, baby care products, cigarettes, cosmetics for women, fashion, food & beverages, motorcycles, personal care for men, personal care for women, sporting goods) were examined for men and women models. Similarly, three personal preferences characteristics for both genders (face beauty, voice quality, and Islamic dress), two characteristics for women models (body shape, femininity), and two characteristics for men models (height-weight balance, masculinity) were examined for men and women models separately. Finally, a survey was conducted to solicit responses from respondents (N=412). Findings: Results indicated significant gender preferences for gender-specific product categories and typical gender stereotypes in advertising models. Men models were preferred in men-specific products, and women models were required in women-specific products. Some product categories (including personal care for men and sporting goods) were ranked higher for men advertising models, while for women advertising models, other product categories (including personal care for women and cosmetics for women) were ranked higher. Masculinity was ranked highest as the preferred personal characteristic for men advertising models, while voice quality was highest for women advertising models. Finally, there is a significant difference between the preferred personal characteristic for men and women advertising models for three characteristics, including face beauty, Islamic dress, and masculinity and femininity. Implications: Saudi Arabia is a unique society with predominantly unique cultural dominance. Consequently, local culture greatly influences advertisements. It has stereotyped gender roles even in advertisements. This study will establish a baseline for further research on the subject area.
Purpose: Marketing communication with customers is essential for companies to survive and grow in a fiercely competitive environment. Advertising is one of the most readily accepted marketing communications by consumers. Unlike a company that owns a distribution network, advertising is vital for a franchise. In general, many advertising models select celebrities. Celebrities are more likely to attract audience attention and influence consumers' purchase intentions. Customers satisfied with advertising are more likely to stay loyal and buy again when the company launches a new product. In addition, customers form a brand image through advertisements. Therefore, in this study, the effect of the characteristics of the foodservice franchise advertising model characteristics on model satisfaction, brand image, and purchase intention. Research design, data, and methodology: The survey of this study was conducted among consumers over the age of 20 who had seen a restaurant franchise advertisement and visited a store within the last 2 months. 305 copies were collected for 7 days during the survey period, from October 21 to October 27, 2021. Among the collected questionnaires, 12 insincere questionnaires were excluded, and 293 were used for analysis. SPSS 25.0 and Smart PLS 3.0 were used as data collected to test the hypothesis. Result: As a result of the study, among the advertising model characteristics of a foodservice franchise, reliability, attractiveness, expertise, and closeness all had a significant positive (+) effect on model satisfaction. In addition, reliability and closeness were found to have a significantly positive (+) effect on brand satisfaction, but attractive and expertise did not significantly affect brand image. Finally, model satisfaction was found to have a significant positive (+) effect on brand image and purchase intention. Brand image also appeared to have a significant positive effect on purchase intention. Conclusions: Research Results First, this study verified the effect of a restaurant franchise advertising model using celebrities by using the characteristics of the advertising model. Second, this study developed a conceptual structure for model characteristics - model satisfaction - brand image - purchase intention. Third, the restaurant franchise marketer needs to select a model in consideration of the privacy of the advertising model. Fourth, consumers tend to equate advertising models with advertising
The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of characteristics of advertising model on brand personality and the effect of brand personality on brand attitude; and analyze whether the characteristics of the advertising model have a direct effect on the brand attitude or indirectly through the brand personality. A survey was conducted from August 10, 2017 until August 31, 2017, and 400 respondents' survey results were analyzed. For data analysis, SPSS 23.0 was utilized to perform descriptive statistics, factor analysis, t-test, and regression analysis. As a result, five brand personality factors were derived, which are aesthetics, safety/expertise, sophistication, pro-environment, youth, respectively. For advertising model characteristics, seven factors were derived, which are credibility, visibility, attractiveness, expertise, similarity, likeability, and familiarity, respectively. This study investigated the relationship between characteristics of cosmetics advertising model, brand personality, and brand attitude. Brand personality does not play a mediating role between advertising model's characteristics and brand attitude. Advertising model's characteristics have a direct effect on the brand attitude. Consequently, Cosmetics companies should recognize the importance of the characteristics of advertising model and implement the marketing strategy by carefully selecting the advertising model so that consumers can relate the characteristics of advertisement model to the brand attitude which will ultimately lead to positive evaluation of the brand.

As data grows rapidly, the provision of appropriate information needed by individuals has become an area of new services, and customized services which is enabling the analysis of optimal services through collecting, storing, and analyzing personal data are emerging in many fields. However, due to the characteristics of customized services based on various information collected by customers during the use of the service, the problem of privacy infringement is raised at the same time, and many studies are being actively conducted to solve this problem. This study seeks to explore how the customer's in-depth and customized services has an impact on their customers, which has not been derived from quantitative research using the grounded theory methodology. Through this, 84 concepts, 33 subcategories, 13 Categories and paradigm models were derived. In addition, 'Understanding and acceptance of online behavioral advertising (OBA)' was derived as a core category, and finally, acceptance types of OBA were classified into 'positive acceptance type', 'indifferent type', 'calculating type', and 'active resistance type' based on the key categories. This study divides the acceptance types of online behavioral advertising through the emotions and behaviors of the consumers throughout the procedure of online behavioral advertising experiences.

The development of POS (Point of Sales) systems for small retailers according to their needs is considered to be important to improve their competitive advantages. However, their financial statuses hinder the adoption of the tailored POS systems. First, this study elicits ASP POS requirements of the small retailers in the following areas: merchandising, pricing, store design and display, customer service, advertising and promotion and personal selling. Then, the requirements are clustered and the clusters are analyzed based on the characteristics of the retailers. Then, ASP service models are proposed according to the needs and profiles of the retailers.
Various current events provide evidence that society is undergoing changes in perceptions of social relationships. Specifically, visual media in the form of advertisements can convey images which reflect society's values and concepts about role relationships. The purpose of this research was to examine ads in fashion magazines to determine what types of model roles and role relationships typically appear in fashion advertising which can mirror society's values. A content analysis was conducted of ads obtained from US Vogue and US GQ for the year 2002. Six kinds of roles/relationships were found: (1) Narcissism (representing self absorption), (2) sexually enticing opposite-sex relationships, (3) close/romantic same-sex relationships, (4) friend relationships, (5) family relationships, and (6) independent relationships. Of these, narcissism predominated, however, a small number of sexually provocative ads appeared as well as same-sex romantic relationships. Because sole (single) models were more typical, they also were examined to determine ways in which they relate to the audience. Characteristics examined included body presentation & pose, eye gaze, and facial expression. Direct eye gaze was the typical way to engage the audience. Gender differences were apparent: smiling was more typical of women, indifference for men. The symbolic meaning and values investigated from this research are the blurring of gender identity portrayed in homosexual imagery, family values, and the value of youth. The consistency of models' race in ads does not portray the diversity reflected in the demographic census.
