Full-length cDNA for RNA2 of cucumber mosaic virus strian Kor (Kor-CMV) was cloned downstream of synthetic T7 promoter by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The clone could generate a full-length transcript corresponding to RNA1 in size when synthesized by T7 RNA polymerase. The complete nucleotide sequence has shown that the RNA2 is composed of 3,049 nucleotides and contains one functional open reading frame (ORF) of 2,574 nucleotides encoding 2a protein. The deduced translation product of the 2,574 nucleotides contains GDD motif which is a characteristic of RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp). The amino acid sequence analysis of the 2a protein has shown that the homology is found in decreasing order with O-CMV (98.8%), Y-CMV (98.7%), Fny-CMV (98.3%), KCMV (94.9%), Ix-CMV (91.9%), and Q-CMV (74.9%). Kor-CMV is suggested to belong to subgroup Ⅰ in the aspect of nucleotide sequence homology of RNA2.

In this paper, for modeling of electrical characteristics in Poly Silicon Thin Film Transistors with process parameters set up optimum values, So, the I-V characteristics of poly silicon TFT parameters are examined and simulated in terms of the variations in process parameter. And these results compared and analyzed simulation values with examination value. The simulation program for characteristic analysis used SUPREM IV for processing, Matlab for modeling by mathematics, and SPICE for electric characteristic of devices. Input parameter for simulation characteristics is like condition of device process sequence, these electric characteristic of $I_D-V_D$$I_D-V_G$, variations of grain size. The Gate oxide thickness of poly silicon are showed similar results between real device characteristics and simulation characteristics.

With considering center-biased characteristic, NTSS(New Three-Step Search Algorithm) can improve the performance of TSS(Three-Step Search Algorithm) which is one of the most popular fast block matching algorithms(BMA) to search a motion vector in a video sequence. Although NTSS has generally better Quality than TSS for a small motion sequence, it is hard to say that NTSS can provide better quality than TSS for a large motion sequence. It even deteriorates the quality to increase a search window size using NTSS. In order to address this drawback, this paper aims to develop a new adaptive window size-based three step search scheme, called AWTSS, which can improve quality at various window sizes in both the small and the large motion video sequences. In this scheme, the search window size is dynamically changed to improve coding efficiency according to the characteristic of motion vectors. AWTSS can improve the video quality more than 0.5dB in case of large motion with keeping the same quality in case of small motion.
It is generally well known that Quaternary is characteristic geologically in terms of glacial and interglacial repeats and their associated unconformity formation. This paper deals with the first finding of the characteristic and significant meaningful unconformity between Holocene and late Pleistocene, which implies submergence and emergence of the tidal sedimentary basin along the western coastal zone of Korea during interglacial stage(IOS-5e) and glacial time(IOS-2). The stratigraphy of intertidal deposits in the Haenam Bay, western coast of Korea shows two depositional sequence units (Unit I of Holocene and Unit II of late Pleistocene) bounded by an erosional surface of disconformity. The disconformity is related to the latest Pleistocene sea-level lowstands (probably during the LGM). The Unit II is interpreted as intertidal deposit showing tidal sedimentary structures and crab burrow ichnology and has two parts (the upper part and the lower part) showing different lithology and character. The upper part of Unit II shows characteristic subaerial exposure features (emergence) and its related lithology. Such subaerially exposed upper part (more or less 4m to 5m in thickness) is characterized by yellow-brownish sediment color, cryoturbat-ed structure, crab burrow ichnofacies and high value of shear strength. Geochemical and clay mineral analyses of the upper part sediments also indicate subaerial exposure and weathering. In particular, very high value of magnetic susceptibility of the upper part in comparison to that of the lower part is interpreted as pedogenetic weathering during the subaerial exposure period.

This paper describes test-pattern generation and it;s sequence for fan out-free Combinational logic network with multiple faults. The method for detecting multiple faults, in systematic way, is established by using characteristic graphs. This method is applied even in the case of fan out-reconvergent combinational logic networks. In this case, the network is decomposed into a set of fan out-free sybnetworks so as to use the characteristic graphs, and minimal test patterns are generated seperately. The each test set is combined and the test pattern for fan out-reconvergent networks are derived. According to corresponding characteristic graph, additional test patterns to detect multiple faults are simply derived.
A gene coding for epoxide hydrolase (EH) of Aspergillus niger LK, a fungus possessing the enantioselective hydrolysis activity for racemic epoxides, was characterized by phylogenetic analysis. The deduced protein of A. niger LK epoxide hydrolase shares significant sequence similarity with several bacterial EHs and mammalian microsomal EHs (mEH) and belongs to the a/${\beta}$ hydrolase fold family. EH from A. niger LK had 90.6% identity with 3D crystal structure of lqo7 in Protein Data Bank. Sequence comparison with other source EHs suggested that Asp$\^$l92/, Asp$\^$374/ and His$\^$374/ constituted the catalytic triad. Based on the multiple sequence comparison of the functional and structural domain sequence, the phylogenetic tree between relevant epoxide hydrolases from various species were reconstructed by using Neighbor-Joining method. Genetic distances were so far as 1.841-2.682 but characteristic oxyanion hole and catalytic triad were highly conserved, which means they have diverged from a common ancestor.

The immune response-related genes have been suggested to be the most favorable genes for positive selection during evolution. Comparing the entire DNA sequence of chimpanzee chromosome 22 (PTR22) with human chromosome 21 (HSA21), we have identified 15 orthologs having indel in their coding sequences. Among them, interferon-${\alpha}$ receptor-1 gene (IFNAR1), an immuneresponse-related gene, is subjected to comparative genomic analysis. Chimpanzee IFNAR1 showed the same genomic structure as human IFNAR1 (11 exons and 10 introns) except the 3 bp insertion in exon 4. The sequence alignment of IFNAR1 coding sequence indicated that 'ISPP' amino acid sequence motif is highly conserved in chimpanzee and other animals including mouse and chicken. However, the human IFNAR1 shows that one proline residue is missing in the sequence motif. The homology modeling of the IFNAR1 structures suggests that the proline deletion in human IFNAR1 leads to the formation of the following ${\alpha}$-helix, whereas two sequential prolines in chimpanzee IFNAR1 inhibit it. As a result, human IFNAR1 may adopt a characteristic structure distinct from chimpanzee IFNAR1. This human specific trait could contribute to specific immune response in the most optimized manner for humans. Further molecular biological studies on the IFNAR1 will help us to gain insights into the molecular implication of species-specific host-pathogen interaction in primate evolution.

The cDNA encoding CMP-NeuAc:lactosylceramide ${\alpha}2$,3-sialyltransferase (GM3 synthase) was isolated from a human fetal brain cDNA library using sequence information obtained from amino acid sequences found in the conserved regions of the previously-cloned mouse GM3 synthase (mST3Gal V) and human sialyltransferases. The cDNA sequence included an open reading frame coding for 362 amino acids, and the primary structure of this enzyme predicted all the structural features characteristic of other sialyltransferases, including a type II membrane protein topology and both sialylmotifs. Comparative analysis of this cDNA with mST3Gal V showed 85% and 86% identity of the nucleotide and amino acid residues, respectively. The expression of this gene is highly restricted in both human fetal and adult tissues.
We have derived the linear complexity of a binary sequence generated by a Feedback with Carry Shift Regiater(FCSR) under the following condition: q is a power of a prime such that $q=r^e,\;(e{\geq}2)$ and r=2p+1, where both r and p are 2-prime. Also, a summation generator creates sequence from addition with carry of LFSR(Linear Feedback Shift Register) sequences. Similarly, it is possible to generate keystream by bitwise exclusive-oring on two FCSR sequences. In this paper, we described the cryptographic properties of a sequence generated by the FCSRs in view of the linear complexity.
