  • Rapid economic development in Korea caused functions of city functions such as concentration of population, deterioration of the quality of living environment and traffic congestion. Korean cities have lost their identity becausr they are merged functionally and physically with neighboring cities, forming one mesa-city. Unified shape and disorganized streets of cities often cause confusion among foreigners and visitors. It is very difficult for them to find their image in strange cities. It is, however, important to correctly analyze the image and meaning of cities for understanding its identity. The purpose of this study is to develop a method to analyze the city image by focusing on some of the main cities in Korea. For this purpose, the adjective questionnaire and multi-dimension scaling (MDS) are applied to the analysis of city image. Image analysis graph by MDS can visually present the general and integrate images. The results of this study are summarized as follows: The important factors for interpretation of city image are historical and industrial character. Seoul, Taegu and Pusan have industrial and complex city images. Kongju has historical city image, while Changwon has a modern image. Chuncheon belongs to a soft and small image. Each city has an alternative solution against a negative image, according to the image analysis graph.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to confirm the mediating effect of job involvement in the relationship between grit and turnover intention among nurses working at university hospitals. Methods: Participants included 437 nurses from university hospitals located in C city, Gyeongnam. Data were collected from January 8 to 19, 2018, using self-report questionnaires. Data were analyzed using the t-test, analysis of variance, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression, with the SPSS/22.0 program. A mediation analysis was performed according to the Baron and Kenny, and bootstrapping methods. Results: There were significant relationships between grit and job involvement (r=.40, p<.001), grit and turnover intention (r=-.29, p<.001), and turnover intention and job involvement (r=-.52, p<.001). Job involvement showed partial mediating effects in the relationship between grit and turnover intention. Conclusion: Grit increased job involvement and lowered turnover intention. Therefore, to reduce nurses' turnover intention, it is necessary to develop a program and strategies to increase their grit.

  • Dokmoe persimmon system in Changwon, designated as a Korea National Important Agricultural Heritage System is a unique agricultural heritage system, is a farming system carried out in the sloping semi-mountainous terrain of the low hills downstream of the Nagdong River. In this study, we analyzed the proposal submitted for registration by the orchard region GIAHS and analyzed the regional characteristics, agricultural characteristics, and threats to heritage conservation of Dokmoe persimmon system. Dokmoe persimmon system is located in a large city, so the threat of development was analyzed as a threat factor differentiated from other regions, and the development of the processing industry was analyzed as a common initiative for GIAHS in the orchard area. Based on this, we established a action plan for heritage conservation. The action plan consists of 4 main criteria, 6 plans, and 14 initiatives. Research on Dokmoe persimmon farming is now at the starting point, and this study will be able to contribute to registration of Dokmo persimmon system in GIAHS.

  • In the past decade there has been increasing concern about the atopic dermatitis (AD) associated with environmental diseases. AD has been increased in the last decade and known as one of the multifactoral diseases, which has the genetic background and environmental factors at the same time. The purposes of this study were to investigate the prevalence rate and etiologic risk factors of atopic dermatitis in preschool children in Changwon, which is a one of the Korean cities and has a large industrial complex. We reviewed and analyzed the statistical data, obtained from Korea National Health Insurance Corporation, related to prevalence rate by age and administrative district. A cross-sectional questionnaire survey, based on ISAAC (International Study of Allergy and Asthma in Childhood), was conducted on random samples of preschool children (5 to 8 years old) of large sized kindergartens in Changwon. The lifetime and last one years prevalence of AD in preschool children in Changwon was increased from 1998 to 2008. The prevalence rate of AD in the preschool children in Changwon city was 9.6%. The prevalence rate in boys was 9.7% and that in girls was 9.4%. The one year prevalence of AD was ranked as middle among other provincial cities in Korea in 2008. This study showed that the prevalence rate of the atopic disease in Changwon was 9% in 2008, which was increased especially compare to 2000. More active governmental approaches for control and prevention of atopic dermatitis for children are recommended. Further studies are needed for more accurate estimation of the prevalence of AD in Korea including different regional and age population.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence rate of atopic dermatitis (AD) and indoor risk factors of AD in school-aged children living in Changwon, which is one of the largest industrial cities in Korean. Data were collected from 2,118 children in 12 elementary schools in Changwon city. A cross-sectional questionnaire based on the Korean Version of the ISAAC (International Study of Allergy and Asthma in Childhood) was employed to survey the $1^{st}$ and $4^{th}$ year elementary students from the 12 elementary schools in Changwon. The life time and last 12-month prevalence of itchy eczema were 20.6%; 70.5% in the elementary children. The life time and last 12-month prevalence of AD diagnosis were 28.8%; 12.6% in the elementary children. There was only one elementary school that was abnormal in the levels of particulate matters (PM), and $Co_2$. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that risk factors for AD were BMI, the levels of PM, $Co_2$, CO, $No_2$, $O_3$, Ethylebenzene, and Xylene. This study could be used to manage possible risk factors that are related to the prevalence of AD and develop the strategies for prevention of AD.

This workbook was developed from April to December 2008, and was applied at 15 elementary schools containing 1,674 students from April to September 2009 in Changwon City, Korea. We evaluated changes in knowledge before and after education on nutrition, eating behavior, dietary habits, and educational activities using self-administered questionnaires. The children demonstrated significant improvements in nutritional knowledge (P<0.001), eating behavior (P<0.001), and dietary habits (P<0.001). Most of the children answered that the education program was helpful and exciting. Based on these results, we believe that the developed workbook is suitable for children picky eaters, and hope it will be used in the field of child nutrition education.
