Implementation and Enhancement of GMM Face Recognition System using Flatness Measure (평탄도 측정을 이용한 GMM 얼굴인식기 구현 및 성능향상)

  • This paper describes a method of performance enhancement using Flatness Mesure(FM) for the Gaussian Mixture Model(GMM) face recognition systems. Using this measure we discard the frames having low information before training and test. As the result, the performance increases about 9% in the lower mixtures and calculation burden is decreased. As well, the recognition error rate is decreased under the illumination change surroundings. We use the 2D DCT coefficients lot face feature vectors and experiments are carried out on the Olivetti Research Laboratory (ORL) face database.

Recognition of Food Labeling of High School Students in Yongin Region (용인지역 고등학생의 식품표시제에 대한 인식도)

  • This study investigated recognition of food labeling of high school students (males 94 and females 85) in Yongin region. Recognition of food labeling was very high at 81.6%. For checking food labeling at the time of purchasing, 53.6% of the respondents always checked and the main reason was healthier food choice (49.2%). Satisfaction of food labeling was very low at 18.4%. In spite of very low satisfaction, 70.9% of respondents recognized necessity for education of food labeling. In terms of education method, respondents preferred 'school lecture' the most with 48.6%, which are in the following order: TV/newspaper/journal/book (37.4%) > internet lecture (10.1%) > education from parents (3.9%). Moreover, 83.2% of respondents answered 'positive change (ex. checking food labeling)' after getting education. Consequently, high school students had low level of utilization of food labeling at the time of purchasing. However, they showed high level of perception and educational need of food labeling as well as possibility of positive change after receiving education. Therefore, appropriate school education for food labeling may be able to lead a healthy eating habit of high school students.

  • A new rhodamine-based sensor 1 was designed and synthesized by incorporating rhodamine B and benzimidazole moieties. Sensor 1 exhibits high selectivity and sensitivity to $Cu^{2+}$ in $CH_3CN$-water solution (HEPES buffer, pH = 7.0) with an obvious color change from colorless to pink. Other metal ions such as $Hg^{2+}$, $Ag^+$, $Pb^{2+}$, $Sr^{2+}$, $Ba^{2+}$, $Cd^{2+}$, $Ni^{2+}$, $Co^{2+}$, $Fe^{2+}$, $Mn^{2+}$, $Cu^{2+}$, $Zn^{2+}$, $Ce^{3+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, $K^+$ and $Na^+$ had no such color change and have no significant influence on $Cu^{2+}$ recognition process. The interaction of $Cu^{2+}$ and sensor 1 was proven to adopt a 1:1 binding stoichiometry and the recognition process is reversible.

Design of RBFNNs Pattern Classifier Realized with the Aid of PSO and Multiple Point Signature for 3D Face Recognition (3차원 얼굴 인식을 위한 PSO와 다중 포인트 특징 추출을 이용한 RBFNNs 패턴분류기 설계)

  • In this paper, 3D face recognition system is designed by using polynomial based on RBFNNs. In case of 2D face recognition, the recognition performance reduced by the external environmental factors such as illumination and facial pose. In order to compensate for these shortcomings of 2D face recognition, 3D face recognition. In the preprocessing part, according to the change of each position angle the obtained 3D face image shapes are changed into front image shapes through pose compensation. the depth data of face image shape by using Multiple Point Signature is extracted. Overall face depth information is obtained by using two or more reference points. The direct use of the extracted data an high-dimensional data leads to the deterioration of learning speed as well as recognition performance. We exploit principle component analysis(PCA) algorithm to conduct the dimension reduction of high-dimensional data. Parameter optimization is carried out with the aid of PSO for effective training and recognition. The proposed pattern classifier is experimented with and evaluated by using dataset obtained in IC & CI Lab.

Betterment of Mobile Sign Language Recognition System (모바일 수화 인식 시스템의 개선에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents a development of a mobile sign language recognition system for daily communication of deaf people, who are sign dependent to access language, with hearing people. The system observes their sign by a cap-mounted camera and accelerometers equipped on wrists. To create a real application working in mobile environment, which is a harder recognition problem than lab environment due to illumination change and real-time requirement, a robust hand segmentation method is introduced and HMMs are adopted with a strong grammar. The result shows 99.07% word accuracy in continuous sign.

Recognition method using stereo images-based 3D information for improvement of face recognition (얼굴인식의 향상을 위한 스테레오 영상기반의 3차원 정보를 이용한 인식)

  • In this paper, we improved to drops recognition rate according to distance using distance and depth information with 3D from stereo face images. A monocular face image has problem to drops recognition rate by uncertainty information such as distance of an object, size, moving, rotation, and depth. Also, if image information was not acquired such as rotation, illumination, and pose change for recognition, it has a very many fault. So, we wish to solve such problem. Proposed method consists of an eyes detection algorithm, analysis a pose of face, md principal component analysis (PCA). We also convert the YCbCr space from the RGB for detect with fast face in a limited region. We create multi-layered relative intensity map in face candidate region and decide whether it is face from facial geometry. It can acquire the depth information of distance, eyes, and mouth in stereo face images. Proposed method detects face according to scale, moving, and rotation by using distance and depth. We train by using PCA the detected left face and estimated direction difference. Simulation results with face recognition rate of 95.83% (100cm) in the front and 98.3% with the pose change were obtained successfully. Therefore, proposed method can be used to obtain high recognition rate with an appropriate scaling and pose change according to the distance.

  • Modernity in costumes is analyzed as the preference of change and novelty, the formation of the masses, and the aspect of function, which is transplanted by western modernization. However, it is seem that the factor of modernity in Japanese traditional costume history. This study examines the Proto-modernity in Japanese traditional costume history. First, this study examines the term 'Imamekashiki' which means the present time. Because of the recognition of every present time arises from the recognition and the preference of change and novelty. In the pre-modem Era, this study examines the masses formed by the publication and the play, Kabuki. This study provides an alternative answer to understanding what is to 'wear clothes' for Japanese people.

Affective Response to Feelings of Password Fatigue by Password Change Requirements

  • While prior work has conducted individuals' password security behavior, there is a relatively neglect to examine individuals' affect and feelings of password fatigue in password change context. Therefore, this study explicated individuals' affective response to the feelings of password fatigue by drawing on several theoretical lens. Survey data collected from 267 users were used to test the model using partial least square analysis. This study found that feelings of password fatigue positively affected the negative password fatigue-induced affect, and also both the feelings of password fatigue and the negative password fatigue-induced affect were negatively related to attitude toward changing passwords, which in turn, leads to the intention to change passwords. Furthermore, this study found that shadow work recognition negatively moderated the relationship between attitude and behavioral intention. This study could offer a new theoretical perspective to understand an individual's security behavior and provide empirical evidences for practitioners in charge of IT security in organizations.

  • In this paper, we proposed an algorithm which cognize hand pose in real time using only image. Hand recognizes using edge orientation histogram which comes under a constant quantity of 2D appearance because hand pose is intricate. This method suit hand pose recognition in real time because it extracts hand space accurately, has little computation quantify, and is less sensitive to lighting change using color information in complicated background. Method which reduces recognition error using principal component analysis method to can recognize through hand shape presentation direction change is explained. A case that hand shape changes by turning 3D also by using this method is possible to recognize. Besides, principal component space creation time is reduced remarkably because edge directional data is used.

  • This paper presents the potential of in-vehicle data recorder system for monitoring aggressive driving patterns and providing feedback to drivers on their on road behaviour. This system can detect 10 risky types of drivers' driving patterns such as aggressive lane change, sudden brakes and turns with acceleration etc. Vehicle dynamics simulation and vehicle road test have been performed in order to develop driving pattern recognition algorithms. Recorder systems are installed to 50 buses in a single company. Drivers' driving behaviour are monitored for 1 month. The drivers' risky driving data collected by the system are analyzed. Aggressive lane change in 50km/h below is a cause in overwhelming majority of risky driving pattern.
