  • In this paper, a fast change detection is proposed for sequence image. The proposed method enhances the quality of the change detection mask and the speed of the change detection by combining block based method and pixel based method. Firstly, change regions are detected for 16 ${\times}$ 16 blocks in image. And 16 ${\times}$ 16 contour block of change detection mask is divided into 4 subblocks. Finally, for divided 8 ${\times}$ 8 blocks, contour blocks are extracted and then, the pixel-based change regions are detected for them. As this makes use of the block based method, this not only enhances the speed of the change detection, but also reduces effects of noise in change detection mask. Experimental results show not only the improvement of the separated change/non-change region, but also the improvement of the speed.

  • This paper resents a spatio-temporal video segmentation method. The algorithm segments each frame of video sequences captured by a static or moving camera into moving objects (foreground) and background using a statistical hypothesis test. In the proposed method, three consecutive image frames are exploited and a hypothesis testing is performed by comparing two means from two consecutive difference images, which results in a T-test. This hypothesis test yields change detection mask that indicates moving areas (foreground) and non-moving areas (background). Moreover, an effective method for extracting object mask form change detection mask is proposed.

  • A recent study of visual working memory(VWM) under a change detection paradigm proposed an idea that the comparison process of VWM representations against incoming perceptual inputs can be performed more rapidly than the process of forming durable memory representations into VWM. To test this hypothesis, we compared the size of interference effect caused by pattern-backward masks following after either the sample(sample-mask condition) or test items (test-mask condition). In Experiment 1, subjects performed a color change detection task for four colored-boxes, and pattern masks with mask-onset asynchronies(MSOA) of either 64ms or 150ms followed each item location either after the sample or after the test items. The change detection accuracy was both comparable in the sample-mask condition regardless of the MSOAs, whereas the accuracy in the trials with a MSOA of 150ms was substantially higher than the MSOA of 65ms in the test-masking condition. In Experiment 2, we manipulated setsizes to 1, 2, 3, 4 items and also MSOAs to 117ms, 234ms, 350ms, 484ms and compared the pattern of interference across a variety of setsize and MSOA conditions. The sample-mask condition yielded a pattern of masking interference which became more evident as the setsize increases and as the MSOA was shorter. However, this pattern of interference was less apparent in the test-mask condition. These results indicate that the comparison process between remembered items in VWM and perceptual inputs is less vulnerable to interference from pattern-backward masking than VWM consolidation is, and thus support for the recent idea that the comparison process in VWM can be performed very fast and accurately.

  • It is difficult to analyse geomorphic landscape changes effectively by a field survey. A satellite image interpretation may play an important role to overcome such a problem. The purpose of this study is to assess the accuracy of different method to identify geomorphic landscape change by using satellite imagery. The study area is the Yongjong coastal wetland in which a huge man-made environmental change occured to build a new international airport in the past decade. These changes may be summarized that a coastal landscape has been changed to a terrestrial landscape, and also a natural landscape to a man-made landscape. In order to detect these changes, we applied three different satellite interpreting methods, including a binary change mask using band difference. a binary change mask using normalized band difference. and a binary change mask using NDVI. We concluded that a binary change mask using NDVI is the best method among three different methods analysing the coastal geomorphic-landscape changes.

  • Satellite imagery occurs geometric and radiometric errors due to external environmental factors at the acquired time, which in turn causes false-alarm in change detection. These errors should be eliminated by geometric and radiometric corrections. In this study, we propose a methodology that automatically and simultaneously performs geometric and radiometric corrections by using the SURF (Speeded-Up Robust Feature) algorithm and the mask filter. The MPs (Matching Points), which show invariant properties between multi-temporal imagery, extracted through the SURF algorithm are used for automatic geometric correction. Using the properties of the extracted MPs, PIFs (Pseudo Invariant Features) used for relative radiometric correction are selected. Subsequently, secondary PIFs are extracted by generated mask filters around the selected PIFs. After performing automatic using the extracted MPs, we could confirm that geometric and radiometric errors are eliminated as the result of performing the relative radiometric correction using PIFs in geo-rectified images.

  • In this paper, a method of detecting the emergency situations such as body fall is proposed by using color images. We detect body areas and key parts of a body through a pre-learned Mask R-CNN in the images captured by a camera. Then we find the centerline of the body through the joint points of both shoulders and feet. Also, we calculate an angle to the center line and then calculate the amount of change in the angle per hour. If the angle change is more than a certain value, then it is decided as a suspected fall. Also, if the suspected fall state persists for more than a certain frame, then it is determined as a fall situation. Simulation results show that the proposed method can detect body fall situation accurately.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient method to detect shot changes in compressed MPEG video data by using reference features among video frames. The reference features among video frames imply the similarities among adjacent frames by prediction coded type of each frame. A shot change is detected if the similarity degrees of a frame and its adjacent frames are low. And the shot change detection algorithm is improved by using Fuzzy c-means (FCM) clustering algorithm. The FCM clustering algorithm uses the shot change probabilities evaluated in the mask matching of reference ratios and difference measure values based on frame reference ratios.

The reference ratios among video frames imply the degree of similarities among adjacent frames by prediction coded type of each frames. • An edge includes information of objects such as magnitude, orientation, and location. Conventional edge detection methods to detect those edge are methods using Sobel, Prewitt, Roberts, Laplacian operator. Existing methods use fixed weighted mask to detect edges, and their edge detection characteristics are insufficient. Therefore, to remedy weakness of conventional methods, in this paper, an edge detection algorithm using weight with standard deviation and thresholds is proposed.

  • In this paper, we propose the method to improving touch recognition using edge mask on a touched object at vision-based touchscreen. Because vision-based touchscreen recognizes touch using threshold simply, noise occur in fist or wrist in case of touch directly with hand, correct touch recognition was difficult. However, in this paper, we execute morphology and extract surrounding mask in object that approximate to touchscreen, use change of contrast for the mask. When we touch screen to use these dynamic information, prevent noise. The goal of this paper is when hand was touched on screen it can recognize to touch.
