  • This study is to investigate the combustion instability of the variation of combustion chamber length in dual swirl gas turbine model combustor. When equivalence ratio was fixed at 1.1, as the length of the combustion chamber increases the value of the frequency decreased in 7kW while the value of the frequency was constant in 4kW. The analysis of flame behaviors by high speed camera was conducted to identify such trend.

  • Experimental studies on the characteristics of annular jet pump were carried out in this paper. Jet pump can be used widely for the transportation of solid materials, farm produce and fishes. The effects of high pressure chamber on the characteristics of annular jet pump were sought in this paper. Experiments were done for three shapes of high pressure chamber, and for several lengths of the high pressure chamber. Three types of the high pressure chamber's entrances($90^{\circ}$ single inflow, $45^{\circ}$single inflow, and $45^{\circ}$ double inflow) were tested. Water was used for both the primary fluid and secondary fluid. The results obtained in this study are as follows; $45^{\circ}$double inflow type is the most effective among the tested three types of the high pressure chamber's entrances. The efficiency of jet pump with 400mm of high pressure chamber length is the highest among the chamber lengths tested in this study, thus indicating appropriate chamber length is required to get an efficient.

The Effects of Chamber Temperature and Pressure on a GDI Spray Characteristics in a Constant Volume Chamber

  • The spray structures under the stratified and homogeneous charge condition of a gasoline direct injection were investigated in a visualized constant volume chamber. The chamber pressure was controlled from 0.1 MPa to 0.9 MPa by the high pressure nitrogen and the chamber temperatures of $25^{\circ}C$, $60^{\circ}C$ and $80^{\circ}C$ were controlled by the band type heater. The fuel, iso-octane was injected by a 6-hole injector with the pressures of 7 MPa and 12 MPa. From the experiments results, it is confirmed that at lower chamber pressure, the penetration length and spray angle are mainly affected by the chamber temperature with the vaporization of the fuel droplets and generated vortices at the end region of the spray. And at higher chamber pressure, the penetration lengths at the end of the injection were about 50~60% of that at lower chamber pressure regardless of the chamber temperature and the effect of fuel injection pressure is larger than that of the chamber temperature which results from larger penetration lengths at higher fuel injection pressure than at lower fuel injection pressure regardless of the chamber temperatures.

  • To construct the design back data for a lean-burn gas engine, we have designed a constant volume combustion chamber with sub-chamber. With constant volume ratio of main-sub combustion chamber and constant equivalence ratio of methane-air mixture, the influence of geometric configurations(diameter, injection angle, number, length) of passagehole upon combustion characteristics were studied. It was found that combustion characteristics in the main combustion chamber were greatly influenced by the injection angle and length of passagehole.

  • The intermediate mixing chamber is one of various methods for improving the regression rate and combustion efficiency of the hybrid rocket. The mixing chamber with its non-combustible material makes the propulsion performance increase, but it leads to a low fuel-loading density in the combustion chamber; therefore, this performance-related trade-off between the mixing chamber and the low fuel-loading density was studied. In this study, the trade-off was conducted by comparing the intermediate-mixing-chamber case with a w/o-mixing-chamber case. The small hybrid-sounding rocket is designed with internal ballistics for comparing the rocket length to the weight. In addition, an external ballistic analysis was conducted for comparing the performances of the w/- and w/o-mixing-chamber cases. As a result, the intermediate-mixing-chamber case shows that the length and the weight were decreased to 12 % and 8 %, respectively; furthermore, when compared with the normal cases, the estimated altitude result of the w/-mixing-chamber case was increased to approximately 75 m.

  • Spray structures and penetration lengths of Gasoline, M85, E85, and LPG by a GDI 6-hole fuel injector were examined in a constant volume chamber. The chamber pressure was controlled at 0.1 MPa and 0.9 MPa. The effects of fuel injection pressure and chamber pressure on the spray structures and penetration lengths were investigated using the 2-dimensional Mie scattering technique. It was found that the sprays developed linearly till ASOI 1.7ms after start of injection and vortices were happened around jets on the way of spray development. And the high chamber pressure, 0.9 MPa kept the fuel sprays development down and the penetration length was reduced to about 55% compared with that of 0.1 MPa. In additions high pressure of fuel injection, 12 MPa increased the spray penetration length more about 7~10% than that of 7 MPa.

정상 대학생의 눈 굴절이상, 안축장, 전방깊이, 수정체두께 그리고 각막두께의 연관성 (Correlation of Refractive Error, Axial Length, Chamber Depth, Lens Thickness and Corneal Thickness of Normal University Students)

  • 목적: 안구크기의 생체 측정값과 눈 굴절이상 정도에 따른 상호 연관성을 비교 조사하고자 하였다. 방법: 평균연령이 22.85${\pm}$3.12세의 정상 대학생 68명(남 36, 여 32)을 대상으로 초음파(A-scan)를 이용하여 측정과 시력측정을 하였고, 그 결과를 SPSS 12.0 version을 이용해 통계학적 유의성을 조사하였다. 결과: 측정한 평균값은 안축장 24.31${\pm}$1.24 mm, 전방깊이 3.48${\pm}$0.28 mm, 렌즈두께 3.56${\pm}$0.26 mm 그리고 각막두께 0.55${\pm}$0.03 mm 이었다. 측정값의 안축장과 전방깊이는 남자가 크지만 렌즈두께는 여자가 두껍게 조사되었다. 렌즈두께는 굴절이상 적을수록 두꺼웠지만, 각막두께는 남, 여 모두 같았다. 좌 우안의 측정값은 차이가 없었으며 T-test 결과도 연관성이 없었다. 측정치의 Pearson Chi-Square 검정 결과는 안축장과 전방깊이, 안축장과 렌즈두께, 전방깊이와 렌즈두께 그리고 굴절이상과 렌즈두께는 p<0.01 수준에서 유의한 상관관계가 있었다. 굴절이상과 안축장은 선형회귀분석 검정결과 음(-) 선형관계를 나타내었다(r=-0.56). 결론: 눈 굴절이상은 안축장, 전방깊이, 렌즈두께에 의해 결정되지만, 좌 우안이나 성별의 차이와는 관계가 없었다.

확장챔버를 적용한 방호터널 내부의 CFD 해석 기반 폭발압력 평가 (CFD-Based Overpressure Evaluation Inside Expansion Chamber-Applied Protective Tunnels Subjected to Detonation of High Explosives)

  • This paper presents a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis to investiagate the effect of expansion chamber on overpressure reduction in protective tunnels subjected to detonation of high explosives. A commercial CFD code, Viper::Blast, was used to model the blast waves in a protective tunnel with a length of 160 m, width of 8.9 m and height of 7.2 m. Blast scenarios and simulation matrix were establihsed in consideration of the design parameters of expansion chamber, including the chamber lengths of 6.1 m to 12.1 m, widths of 10.7 m to 97 m, length to width ratios of 0.0 to 5.0, heights of 8.0 m and 14.9 m, and ratios of chamber to tunnel width of 1.2 to 10.9 m. A charge weight of TNT of 1000 kg was used. The mesh sizes of the numerical model of the protective tunnel were determined based on a mesh convergence study. A parametric study based on the simulation matrix was performed using the proposed CFD tunnel model and the optimized shape of expansion chamber of the considered tunnel was then proposed based on the numerical results. Design recommendations for the use of expansion chamber in protective tunnel under blast loads to reduce the internal overpressures were finally provided.

접합실 바닥형상이 컨덴서 튜브 직접압출 공정 및 금형탄성변형에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Chamber Bottom Shape on Die Elastic Deformation and Process in Condenser Tube Extrusion)

  • In case of hollow cylinder extrusion using porthole die, the effects of extrusion parameters-temperature, the speed of extrusion, the shape of the die and mandrel-on metal flow in porthole die extrusion of aluminum have been investigated. However, there have been few studies about condenser tube extruded by porthole die. Original metal flow of condenser tube by porthole die extrusion is similar to hollow cylinder extrusion but the estimation of metal flow for extrusion parameters is different. For example, variation of chamber length in hollow extrusion only affects the welding pressure, however, the welding chamber length in condenser tube extrusion influences to the welding pressure as well as the deflection of mandrel. This study was designed to evaluate metal flow, welding pressure, extrusion load, tendency of mandrel deflection according to angular variation in the bottom of chamber in porthole die. Estimation was carried out using finite element method in as non-steady state. Analytical results can provide useful information the optimal design of porthole die.
