Research into the visual perception of human emotion to recognize an intention has traditionally focused on emotions of facial expression. Recently researchers have turned to the more challenging field of emotional expressions through body posture or activity. Proposed work approaches recognition of basic emotional categories from body postures using neural model applied visual perception of neurophysiology. In keeping with information processing models of the visual cortex, this work constructs a biologically plausible hierarchy of neural detectors, which can discriminate 6 basic emotional states from static views of associated body postures of activity. The proposed model, which is tolerant to parameter variations, presents its possibility by evaluating against human test subjects on a set of body postures of activities.
In recent years, scientific community has found renewed interest in hypersonic flight research. These hypersonic vehicles undergo severe aero-thermal environment during their flight regimes. During reentry and hypersonic flight of these vehicles through atmosphere real gas effects come into play. The analysis of such hypersonic flows is critical for proper aero-thermal design of these vehicles. The numerical simulation of hypersonic real gas flows is a very challenging task. The present work emphasizes numerical simulation of hypersonic flows with thermal non-equilibrium. Hyperbolic system of equations with stiff relaxation method are identified in recent literature as a novel method of predicting long time behaviour of systems such as gas at high temperature. In present work, Energy Relaxation Method (ERM) has been considered to simulate the real gas flows. Navier-Stokes equations A numerical scheme Advection Upstream Splitting Method (AUSM) has been selected. Navier-Stokes solver along with relaxation method has been used for the simulation of real flow over a circular cylinder. Pressure distribution and heat flux over the surface of cylinder has been compared with experiment results of Hannemann. Present heat flux results over the cylinder compared well with experiment. Thus, real gas effects in hypersonic flows can be modeled through energy relaxation method.
A public-academia cooperative research system is suggested to improve the level of national research on atmospheric science and to enable the National Institute of Meteorological Research (NIMR) to meet its overloaded demand for research and results. As a practical example of cooperative research the CIRES case was reviewed. CIRES, the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences, located at the University of Colorado Boulder, is one of NOAA's 18 cooperative research centers located at universities across the U.S. NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, as a part of government, gives clear guideline for research topics and supplies research funds to research centers and audits their research processes and accomplishments. NOAA Boulder Laboratories, as a large, well-established government research center managed by government scientists, supplies depth of experiences and major research infra-structure to CIRES. CIRES pursues innovative and challenging research with their younger and brand-new researchers who are university employees. This cooperative work between government research organizations and the university produces high level research efficiently. Not only does Boulder have a beautiful natural setting where researchers live and work but also the city is a home to many scientific agencies and research facilities. This robust scientific network provides rich opportunities for CIRES researchers to collaborate with others in their scientific fields.
Distinction of Bacillus cereus from other closely related bacilli is challenging and new efficient methods are continually demanded. From our previous work on RAPD profiles of bacilli, we found a possibility that B. cereus strains could be distinguished from other bacilli. In this work, RAPD-PCR profiles of B. cereus strains were obtained using a 10-mer (S30) as a primer, and a B. cereus specific 0.91-kb band was produced from all tested strains. The RAPD-PCR procedure also successfully detected B. cereus from spiked cheonggukjang when B. cereus cells were present at more than $10^2$/g sample.
Service learning usually has two aspects. One aspect is associated with applying class learning to related fields. The other aspect is associated with challenging and dynamic volunteering experiences. This study examined experiences of 70 social work students who took service learning courses at a university. After the courses, these students were asked regarding (1) evaluation and satisfaction of overall service learning experiences, (2) evaluation of service learning contents and the following activities, (3) the process of volunteering activities, and (4) the differences between service learning courses and other regular courses. Results were as follows: students generally regarded service learning experiences as positive; students reported understanding of social work practice and learning of professional skills; however, the service learning courses seemed to be very demanding in time and adjusting personal schedules; teamwork among students seemed to be good, especially in cooperation and emotional support; however, some students reported struggling experiences in allocating roles among team members; finally, the relationship between students and social workers at the agencies and the coordination of community resources seemed to be weak. In order for service learning courses to be more effective, this study presented some suggestions in the conclusion.

The packaging of the integrated circuits requires knowledge of ceramics and metals to accommodate the fabrication of modules that are used to construct subsystems and entire systems from extremely small components. Composite ceramics (Al$_2$O$_3$-SiO$_2$) were tested for substrates. A stress analysis was conducted for a linear work-hardening metal cylinder embedded in an infinite ceramic matrix. The bond between the metal and ceramic was established at high temperature and stresses developed during cooling to room temperature. The calculations showed that the stresses depend on the mismatch in thermal expansion, the elastic properties, and the yield strength and work hardening rate of the metal. Experimental measurements of the surface stresses have also been made on a Cu/Al$_2$O$_3$-SiO$_2$ceramic system, using an indentation technique. A comparison revealed that the calculated stresses were appreciably larger than the measured surface stresses, indicating an important difference between the bulk and surface residual stresses. However, it was also shown that porosity in the metal could plastically expand and permit substantial dilatational relaxation of the residual stresses. Conversely it was noted that pore clusters were capable of initiating ductile rupture, by means of a plastic instability, in the presence of appreciable tri-axiality. The role of ceramics for packaging of microelectronics will continue to be extremely challenging.
It is a challenging work for service operators to accurately classify different services, which runs on various wireless networks based upon numerous platforms. This works focuses on design and implementation of a classifier, which accurately classifies applications, which are captured horn WiBro Network. Notion of session is introduced for the classifier, instead of commonly used Flow to develop a classifier. Based on session information of given traffic, two classification algorithms are presented, Classification and Regression Tree and Support Vector Machine. Both algorithms are capable of classifying accurately and effectively with misclassification rate of 0.85%, and 0.94%, respectively. This work shows that classifier using CART provides ease of interpreting the result and implementation.
Twitter is one of the most popular social platforms for online users to share trendy information and views on any event. Twitter reports an event faster than any other medium and contains enormous information and views regarding an event. Consequently, Twitter topic summarization is one of the most convenient ways to get instant gist of any event. However, the information shared on Twitter is often full of nonstandard abbreviations, acronyms, out of vocabulary (OOV) words and with grammatical mistakes which create challenges to find reliable and useful information related to any event. Undoubtedly, Twitter event summarization is a challenging task where traditional text summarization methods do not work well. In last decade, various research works introduced different approaches for automatic Twitter topic summarization. The main aim of this survey work is to make a broad overview of promising summarization approaches on a Twitter topic. We also focus on automatic evaluation of summarization techniques by surveying recent evaluation methodologies. At the end of the survey, we emphasize on both current and future research challenges in this domain through a level of depth analysis of the most recent summarization approaches.

Background: Law enforcement communications (i.e., 911 dispatch and call takers) is a challenging and stressful occupation. The purpose of this study is to identify the main stressors associated with employment in law enforcement communications, and to identify and provide context to how these stressors affect workers' health and wellbeing. Methods: This research study included focus groups with 23 call takers and 911 dispatchers employed by a large, urban law enforcement agency in 2018. Thematic analyses were conducted to identify trends. Results: Four themes of stressors emerged (i.e., the high stakes nature of some 911 calls for service, understaffing, supervisor-related stress, and recruiting practice). Two health-related themes emerged as being occupation-related: weight gain and poor sleep patterns/insufficient sleep). Specifically, participants reported negative eating habits resulting in weight gain and obesity, lack of sleep and irregular sleep schedules, and development of hypertension and/or diabetes since beginning their jobs. Conclusion: Law enforcement communications professionals experience a number of the same stressors facing law enforcement officers in patrol. These stressors, combined with the sedentary nature of the job, could result in long-term, chronic health problems.
