  • Multijunction solar cells present a practical solution towards a better photovoltaic conversion for a wider spectral range. In this review, we compare different types of multi-ijunction solar cell. First, we introduce thin film multijunction solar cell include to the thin film silicon, III-V material and chalcopyrite material. Until now the maximum reported power conversion efficiencies (PCE) of solar cells having different component sub-cells are 14.0% (thin film silicon), 46% (III-V material), 4.4% (chalcopyrite material) respectively. We then discuss the development of multijunction solar cell in which c-Si is used as bottom sub-cell while III-V material, thin film silicon, chalcopyrite material or perovskite material is used as top sub-cells.

  • With the gradual expansion of copper demands, the utilization of enormous tonnages of waste copper mineral containig up to 0.5% copper becomes available. In order to investigate the possibilities on the application of bacterial leaching method to waste dumps or abandoned mines, the authors had carried out microbial leaching of copper minerals by F.ferrooxidans isolated from the Dalsung copper mine water. The results obtained were as follows : 1. The copper extraction rate from the Dalsung chalcopyrite has been a little accerelated by using flasks in place of percolators. 2. The percentage of copper extracted from the Dalsung chalcopyrite sample was 100% in 30 days in the presence of iron-oxidizing bacteria F.ferrooxidans while 9.27% in the absence of bacteria. 3. F.ferroxidans was capable of producing sufficient quantities of ferric sulfate and sulfuric acid from ferrous iron to bring about the dissolution of 100% of copper from the Dalsung chalcopyrite.

  • We have prepared CIGS thin film absorber layers with simple solution spray deposition technique and thin film were synthesized with different atomic ratio. CIGS thin films were synthesized using non-vacuum solution deposition method on pre-heated sodalime glass substrates and Mo-coated soadlime glass substrate. In precursor solution were Cu : In : Ga: S ratio 4 : 3 : 2 : 8 and the crystal type of sprayed thin film were CIGS chalcopyrite structures. This structure was identified as typical chalcopyrite tetragonal structure with XRD analysis. This result showed that CIGS solution deposition technique has potential for the one step synthesis and low cost fabrication process for CIS or CIGS thin film absorber layer.

  • The conclutions arrived at as a result of experimental work are as follow; 1. The use of kerosene as a collector was found essential to produce a good recovery of chalcopyrite, galena and zincblende under the condition of high pH(below 2). 2. Temperature doesn't seemingly effect the flotation of chalcopyrite, galena and zincblende. 3. The minimum concentration of kerosene as a collecter was 26mg kerosene per liter of solution.

  • The Duk-Eum mine located in Kongsan-myeon, Naju-gun, Cheolanamdo is producing silver ore mainly, with rare gold association. The grade-up and recovery of the concentrates have been concerned to the main problem. And then, this study aimed at applying the basic data for ore processing. In the first half of the study, the attempts were made to identify the ore minerals, this followed by determination of the mineral texture, paragenesis, grain size, and size distribution by employing the microscopical method and the etching test. The results of the study are as follows: 1. The ore deposit is composed of the hydrothermal fissure linked veins, and filling cavities are mostly tensile fractures or joints, in rhyolitic rocks as a wall rock. 2. The principle ore minerals are native silver, acanthite, canfieldite, pyrargyrite, galena, tetrahedrite, sphalerite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, chalcocite, covellite, zincite, and the gangue minerals are quartz and calcite. 3. The grain size of each ore minerals before grinding are; max. $2\frac{1}{2}$ mesh, medium 48-100 mesh(main size, contained over 80%), min. 3200mesh. And the grain size of each ore minerals after grinding is; max. 42mesh, medium 65-250mesh(main size, contained over 80%), min. 3200mesh. 4. The properties of the mineral texture effected on the ore dressing are follows; a) Inclusion texture; the fine grains of chalcopyrite is included in most acanthite, and rarely, that of galena included in acanthite. b) Exsolution texture; pyrargyrite is exsolved in acanthite. c) Replacement texture; native silver replaced pyrargyrite, and acanthite replaced galena. d) Interlocking paragenetic texture; the interlocking paragenetic minerals are pyrite, chalcopyrite, chalcocite, canfieldite. e) Fissure filling texture; chalcopyrite was filled along the cracks in acanthite. Among of the above texture, it is impossible to liberate the grains of a), and more difficult to liberate those of b) and c), while easy to liberate those of d) and e).

  • In the present work, the high temperature oxygen pressure leaching behavior of chalcopyrite was studied in sulfuric acid solution. The influence of leaching time, temperature and oxygen partial pressure on leaching process were examined. Leaching rate of copper increased significantly with increasing leaching temperature. Copper recovery reached 87.1% within 2 hours at $200^{\circ}C$ and 10 atm oxygen pressure, while most of the solubilized iron readily re-precipitates as hematite($Fe_2O_3$). It was confirmed that e main leach reaction of chalcopyrite occurred through oxidation with oxygen under oxygen pressure and high temperature(above $150^{\circ}C$). Because sulfur was oxidized entirely to sulfate, passivating elemental sulfur layer was not formed.

  • Energy, a critical input, is to be efficiently managed via waste heat recovery and energy reuse for the economic viability of a process industry. In particular, cement manufacture demands a huge quantum of energy, for the necessary reactions. Huge amounts of hot effluent gases are generated. Energy recovery from these waste gases is an area that is of contemporary research interest. Now, about 75% of total heat recovery takes place in the riser of the suspension pre-heater system. This article deals with the hydrodynamic and heat transfer aspects of riser typically used in the cement industry. An experimental apparatus was designed and fabricated with provision for the measurement of gas pressure and solid temperatures at different heights of the riser. The system studied was air - chalcopyrite taken in different particle sizes. Acceleration length ($L_A$) determined at different parametric levels was fitted to an empirical correlation: $L_A/d_t=4.91902(d_p/d_t)^{0.10058}(w_s/w_g)^{-0.11691}(u_g{\mu}_g/d_t^2g{\rho}_g)^{0.28574}({\rho}_p/{\rho}_g)^{0.42484}$. An empirical model was developed for Nusselt number as a function of Reynolds and Prandtl numbers using regression analysis: $Nu=0.40969(Re_p)^{0.99953}(Pr)^{0.03569}$.

  • The electronic structure and magnetic properties of chalcopyrite (CH) AlGaAs2 with dopant Mn at 3.125 and 6.25 % concentrations are investigated using first-principles calculations. The CH AlGaAs2 alloy is a p-type semiconductor with a small band-gap. The AlGaAs2:Mn shows that the ferromagnetic (FM) state is the most energetically favorable one. The Mn-doped AlGaAs2 exhibits FM and strong half-metallic ground states. The spin polarized Al(Ga,Mn)As2 state (Al-rich system) is more stable than the (Al,Mn)GaAs2 state (Ga-rich system), which has a magnetic moment of 3.82mB/Mn. The interaction between Mn-3d and As-4p states at the Fermi level dominates the other states. The states at the Fermi level are mainlyAs-4p electrons, which mediate strong interaction between the Mn-3d and As-4p states. It is noticeable that the FM ordering of dopant Mn with high magnetic moment originates from the As(4p)-Mn(3d)-As(4p) hybridization, which is attributed to the partially unfilled As-4pbands. The high FM moment of Mn is due to the double-exchange mechanism mediated by valence-band holes.
