  • In recent days, perhaps the biggest driver in new material development is the desire to improve restorations esthetics compared to the traditional metal substructure based ceramics or all-ceramic restorations. Each material type performs differently regarding strength, toughness, effectiveness of machining and the final preparation of the material prior to placement. For example, glass ceramics are typically weaker materials which limits its use to single-unit restorations. On the other hand, zirconia has a high fracture toughness which enables multi-unit restorations. This material requires a long time sintering procedure which excludes its use for fast chair side production. Hybrid ceramic material developed for CAD/CAM system is contained improved nano ceramic elements. This new material, called a Resin Nano Hybrid Ceramic is unique in durability of function and aesthetic base compositions. The new nano-hybrid ceramic material is not a composite resin. It is also not a pure ceramic. The material is a mixture of both and consists of nano-ceramic fillers. Like a composite, the material is not brittle and is fracture resistant. Like a glass ceramic, the material has excellent polish retention for lasting esthetics. The material is easily machined by chair side or in a dental lab side, could be an useful restorative option.

  • For the purpose of decreasing the chair time in implant cases, the time needed to loosening and fastening the screw must be shortened. Nowadays, the two typical designs of screw head are slot and hexa form. This study aimed at the shortening of loosening and fastening time by modifying the slot and hexa form. Total of twelve dentists participate in these experiments, four of them were experienced and eight of them were novice dentists. 1. There were many differences in the speeds of screw loosening and fastening between personal experiences. Experienced dentists are faster than novice dentists. 2. There were many differences in the speeds by angulation of the implant, by the conditions of the muscle tonicity. 3. Revised slot and hexa Heads show the slightly shortened time for acrew looseing and fastening.

  • The objective of this research is to study on the upper layer temperature, interface height and flow regime in case of several furniture fires such as trashcan, chair, carpet, sofa, mattress and wardrobe as a fire starter in a residential room by performing the experimental studies. The upper layer temperature and the Interface height were relatively well agreed with the experimental results when the flow coefficient at the opening was 0.65-0.8 for the rectangular trashcan, 0.65-0.9 for the circular trashcan and chair, and 0.7-0.9 for the carpet, sofa, mattress and wardrobe. The interface heights for the seven furniture fires were around 1[m] maintaining steady state. However, at the time of the maximum temperature, the interface height was lowered to 0.25[m]-0.75[m] from the floor. The flow regime at the opening was filling and buoyant for the distributed fire, and for the concentrated fire it was filling and then quickly changed to flow, and the flow period was long. The descending speed of the interface height was proportioned to the inflammability of the furniture and the contact surface area with air. The time required to come down around 1[m] was within 1-3 minutes.

  • This study was conducted on college students with low back pain to find out how a backrest exercise program affects the pain and balance of students. Thirty-two students at K University in Gwangju City were randomly classified with backrests and without backrests group respectively. Each group conducted the program for lasted three times a week for a total of 30 minutes for four weeks. Visual Analog Scale (VAS) was measured for pain assessment before and after arbitration, and the Korean Oswestry Disability Index (KODI) was measured for functional disability assessment. TETRAX is used to measure the weight distribution index and posture stability. According to the results of the experiment, the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and the Korean Oswestry Disability Index (KODI) and weight distribution index showed significant differences over time, but the posture stability was no significant difference. The results of this study show that the lower limb exercise program is effective in back pain, dysfunction and weight distribution index, and it is believed that the pain reduction is significant when performed by distal movement in the area of back pain, It can be applied effectively to reduce low back pain in college students who spend a lot of time sitting down.

  • These days, people spend more time sitting at a desk for studies or work. Also, because people continue to use computers, smartphones, and tablet PCs often during break times, their posture is getting worse. Maintaining a position of bad posture for an extended period of time causes problems with the musculoskeletal system related to the neck, shoulders, and spine. Additionally, problems such as physical fatigue and posture deformation are predicted to expand to a wide range of age groups. Therefore, the core function of the system we are developing is to ensure correct sitting posture and to receive alert notifications via the created mobile application. To create the system, a flex sensor, pressure sensor, and tilt sensor are attached to a chair and utilized. The flex sensor detects and compares the amount of bending in the chair's posture and transmits this value to an Arduino Uno R3 board. Additionally, information such as body balance and incline angle are collected to determine whether or not the current sitting posture is correct. When the posture is incorrect, a notification is sent through the mobile application to indicate to the user and the monitoring app that their posture is not correct. The system proposed in this study is expected to be of great help in future posture-related research.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the electromyographic activity and onset time of the gluteus maximus (GM) and hamstring (HAM), lumbopelvic kinematics during three different prone table hip extension exercises in healthy individuals. Methods: Twenty subjects were participated. Electromyography device was used to measure the muscle activities and onset time of the GM and HAM muscles. An electromagnetic tracking motion device was used to measure lumbopelvic compensations. The subjects were asked to perform three different prone table hip extension [Prone table hip extension with the abdominal drawing-in maneuver on a chair (PTHEA), PTHEA with the ipsilateral knee flexion (PTHEAF), PTHEAF with hip 30 abduction (PTHEAFA)]. One-way repeated measures analysis of the variance and a Bonferroni post hoc test were used. Results: The electromyographic activity and onset time were significantly different among three conditions (PTHEA vs. PTHEAF vs. PTHEAFA)(p<0.01). The GM muscle activity and onset time were significantly greater and reduced during the PTHEAFA compared to PTHEA and PTHEAF (p<0.01). However, The HAM muscle activity and onset time were significantly smaller and delayed during the PTHEAFA compared to PTHEA and PTHEAF (p<0.01). Conclusions: PTHEAFA exercise can be recommended to facilitate the muscle activity and efficient muscle firing time of GM without HAM dominance.

  • Statement of problem. Implant screw loosening has been remained a problem in implant prosthodontics. The time needed to insert screw driver into abutment screw head should be shortened for the purpose of decreasing the chair time. Purpose. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the design of abutment screw driver on the amount of time for insertion of screw driver into abutment screw head. Material and methods. Hexagonal and rectangular types of abutment screw drivers were used. The original abutment screw drivers were modified by grinding acute angle of the screw driver tip (modified drivers). Group 1 : hexagonal type abutment screw and original driver Group 2 : hexagonal type abutment screw and modified driver Group 3 : rectangular type abutment screw and original driver Group 4 : rectangular type abutment screw and modified driver UCLA lab analogues were located in acrylic resin block. The angulations of them were 0 and 20 degrees. The times needed for insertion were measured. Group 1 and 3 were used as controls. Results. 1. Group 2 showed shorter insertion time than group 1, regardless of implant angulations (p<.05). 2. Group 4 showed shorter insertion time than group 3, regardless of implant angulations (p<.05). Conclusion. Modified abutment screw drivers required less amount of time to insert screw driver into abutment screw head. Modification of abutment screw driver was beneficial.

  • In this paper a procedure for Monte Carlo simulation of univariate stationary stochastic processes with the aid of neural networks is presented. Neural networks operate model-free and, thus, circumvent the need of specifying a priori statistical properties of the process, as needed traditionally. This is particularly advantageous when only limited data are available. A neural network can capture the "pattern" of a short observed time series. Afterwards, it can directly generate stochastic process realizations which capture the properties of the underlying data. In the present study a simple feed-forward network with focused time-memory is utilized. The proposed procedure is demonstrated by examples of Monte Carlo simulation, by synthesis of future values of an initially short single process record.
