  • If water-chillers are arranged in series-series counterflow, compressor lift of each chiller will be decreased in comparison with water-chillers in parallel. That means that compressor power of the chillers in series will be lower than that of chillers in parallel. However, the pressure drop of the water flow through the chillers in series will increase, and thus increase the power of water pumps. This disadvantage will be made good by increasing the temperature difference of water flow through evaporator and condenser, but the water flow rates will decrease. This paper explores the optimal parameters in system of series-series counterflow for central chilled water plants such as the leaving chilled water temperature, the leaving condenser water temperature, condenser water flow rate and number of chillers in series.

국내산 팥의 품종별 종실 및 수분흡수 특성 (Seed and water absorption characteristics of red bean cultivars in Korea)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내산 팥 품종별 종실 특성과 수분흡수율 및 수분흡수 kinetics를 분석하였으며 수분흡수 속도와 팥의 종실 특성 변수들 간의 상관관계를 조사하였다. 팥의전체 종실의 길이는 품종간 유의적인 차이를 보였지만(7.74-8.99 mm), 전체 종실의 너비에는 유의적인 차이가 없었으며(5.33-5.54 mm), 배꼽의 경우 길이는 3.21-4.01 mm, 너비는 0.58-0.73 mm의 범위를 가졌다. 주사 전자 현미경을 통해 종피는 39.18-50.01 ㎛로 나타났다, 수침 동안 초기 수분함량이 <14%인 팥은 30시간에 도달함에 따라 모든 품종 팥에서 130% 이상 수분을 함유하고 있었으며 수침 초기에는 수분에 큰 변화가 없는 lag phase를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 흰나래의 경우 다른 품종들에 비해 lag phase로 도달하는 시간이 빨랐으며 평형수분 함량의 50%까지 도달하는 시간인 τ (h)의 경우 모델식에 적용하여 도출할 수 있는데 이때, 흰나래가 4.40 h로 가장 빨랐고 다른 품종의 경우 도달시간이 9-10 h였다. 모델식으로부터 품종별 수분흡수 속도를 계산한 결과, 흰나래가 가장 빠르게 수분흡수가 이루어졌으며 검구슬, 연두채, 홍진, 아라리 순서로 나타났다. 수분흡수 속도와 종실 특성 지표와의 상관관계에서 수분흡수 속도는 전체 종실의 길이나 너비, 배꼽의 길이 보다는 배꼽의 너비(r=0.7858*)와 종피의 두께(r= -0.9954***)와 더 높은 상관성이 있어, 이 두가지가 팥의 수분흡수율에 영향을 주는 주요 요인임을 알 수 있다. 본 연구에서 흰나래는 가장 긴 배꼽 너비(0.73 mm)와 가장 얇은 종피(39.18 ㎛)를 가져 다른 품종들보다 눈에 띄는 수분흡수 속도를 보여 경제적이고 효율적인 품종으로서 산업적 적용을 기대할 수 있다. 또한, 본 연구를 통해 팥의 수분 거동은 S형 방정식에 모델링하는 것이 적절하며 모델링을 하여 수분거동을 예측함으로써 수분침지 시간과 수분흡수율을 제어하고 용도에 맞게 가공시스템을 설정할 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.

중추내로 투여한 $5-HT_{1A}$ 작동제에 의한 마취 가토에 있어서 신장기능의 변동 (Renal Functional Responses to a Centrally-administered $5-HT_{1A}$ Agonist in the Anesthetized Rabbits)

  • Central tryptaminergic system has been shown to play an important role in the regulation of renal function: $5-HT_1(5-hydroxytryptamine_1)$ receptors might seem to mediate the diuresis and natriuresis, whereas the $5-HT_2\;and\;5-HT_3$ receptors mediate the antidiuretic and antinatriuretic effects. This study attempted to delineate the role of central $5-HT_{1A}$ subtype in the regulation of rabbit renal function by observing the renal effects of intracerebrovent-ricularly(icv)-administered PAPP(p-aminorhenylethyl-m-trifluoromethytphenyl piperazine, LY165163), a selective agonist of $5-HT_{1A}$ receptors. PAPP in doses ranging from 40 to $350{\mu}g/kg$ icv induced significantly diuresis, natriuresis, and kaliuresis, along with increased renal perfusion and glomerular filtration. Systemic blood pressure was also increased. Free water reabsorption$(T^cH_2O)$, a measure of ADH(antidiuretic hormone) secretion, was increased also. Intravenous $350{\mu}g/kg$ of PAPP elicited antidiuresis and antinatriuresis together with decreased blood pressure, thus indicating that the effects of icv PAPP were brought about through the central mechanisms, not by direct peripheral effects of the drug on kidney. Ketanserin, a selective $5-HT_2$ antagonist, $40{\mu}g/kg$ icv, did not affect the renal effects of the icv PAPP. Methysergide, a non-selective $5-HT_1$ antagonist, also did not block the renal functional responses by the icv PAPP. NAN-190, a $5-HT_{1A}$ antagonist, also did not antagonized the renal action of the icv PAPP. However the increased free water reabsorption was abolished by both methysergide or ketanserin pretreatment. The increments of blood pressure by icv PAPP was blocked only by NAN-190 pretreatment. These observations suggest that the central $5-HT_{1A}$ receptor might be involved in the central regulation of rabbit renal function by exerting the diuretic and natriuretic influences.

판상엽 펄퍼 운전 조건에 따른 펄핑특성 변화 (Effects of Pulping Conditions in the Reconstituted Tobacco Sheet Making Process on the Properties of the Pulp Slurry)

  • The pulping process in a papermaking process for a reconstituted tobacco sheet (RECON) was evaluated. For the practical information, the experiments were conducted in a real mill. Two pulping conditions were chosen and changed depending on the feasibility, such as the pulping temperature and the properties of pulping water. The higher pulping temperature resulted in the easier dissolution of solubles from the raw materials. However, the efficiency of screw press process was decreased by the higher pulping temperature, which resulted in the reduction of the HWS and the concentration in the #1 screw press filtrate. The addition of SEL(Strong extracted liquor) to pulper affected the efficiency of dissolution and the final concentration of #1 screw press filtrate. Although the higher SEL resulted in the less dissolution of the solubles from the raw materials, the concentration of the #1 screw press filtrate was greatly increased by the higher addition of SEL, which could provide much better efficiency to the following evaporation process of the filtrate and could increase the whole productivity.

Chloride Meter(CL-2Z형)를 이용한 담배잎 중 chloride의 신속한 검정방법 (Rapid Quantification of Chloride in Tobacco Leaves by a Chloride Meter (Model: CL-2Z))

  • The aim of this study is to develop a simple and rapid field method for the determination of chloride content in tobacco green or cured leaves. To set up a practical process, several factors such as the proper sampling position of each leaf, the size of leaf lamina pieces for blending, the substitution of deionized water fur the extracting solution, 0.1N $HNO_3$, the submerging durations before blending, and the standing times before measuring were studied using flue-cured and burley tobacco with a stable and reproducible Chloride Meter, KRK CL-2Z. From the results, chloride contents of tobacco leaves could be analyzed with the Chloride Meter(CL-2Z) using the suspension of 14 mm diameter leaf disks after soaking in distilled water for 30 min., blending with a mini-blender for 30 seconds. The chloride contents measured in this way showed highly significant correlations with ones by the conventional potentiometric method using an ion meter-chloride electrode and $AgNO_3$ titration. In our method, the procedures such as drying, powdering and weighing samples, and using chemical reagents for extraction (0.1N $HNO_3$) and titration(0.028N $AgNO_3$) could be eliminated. These results suggest that the newly constructed method using the Chloride Meter is more efficient to determine the chloride content of tobacco leave in comparison with the one by the Ion $Meter:AgNO_3$ titration.

이온교환수지를 이용한 새로운 암로디핀 복합체 개발 (Development of New Amlodipine Complex using Ion Exchange Resin)

  • Cation exchange resin complex of amlodipine free base has been investigated to improve the stability and dissolution profile. The complex was prepared by reacting amlodipine solution with activated cation exchange resin, and amlodipine content in the complex was 31.6% calculated by HPLC determination. Its product was not physical mixture but the complex formed by ionic bond, which was identified by microscope system, differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffractometry. Each tablet containing amlodipine free base(I) and its complex(II) was prepared for the accelerated stability test ($40^{\circ}C$, 75%RH) and dissolution test in the pH 1.2 buffer solution and purified water media. Dissolution patterns of formulation II in both media were similar to those of $Norvasc^{(R)}$ tablet, but the pattern of formulation I in purified water was different. After 6 months storage under stability test, amlodipine content of formulation I, II and $Norvasc^{(R)}$ tablet were $99.3{\pm}1.2%,\;98.9{\pm}1.4%\;and\;83.9{\pm}3.4%$, respectively. While amlodipine free base was unstable at the condition, its complex was not only significantly stable, but also similar in the dissolution pattern. These results suggest the usefulness of complex as a stable carrier for amlodipine free base.

EPW 용액에서의 실리콘 양극 산화막 형성에 관한 연구 (Anodic Oxidation of Silicon in EPW Solution)

  • Si 이방성 에칭 용액인 EPW(Ethylenediamine, Pyrocatechol, Water) 용액내에서 potentiostat를 이용한 cyclic polarization 방법으로 양극 산화막의 연구를 수행하였다. p-Si 및 n-Si에서 양극 산화막의 breakdown potential은 동일한 값을 보였으며, $p^+$-Si의 경우에는 양극 산화막의 breakdown이 일어나지 않았다. 산화막의 XPS 분석결과 n-Si과 p-Si의 경우 Si 2p photopeak의 chemical shift는 각각 ${\Delta}$3.62eV, ${\Delta}$3.55eV였으며, $p^+$-Si의 경우에는 ${\Delta}$4.25eV였다. 따라서 $p^+$-Si의 양극 산화막이 light doping의 경우와 비교하여 커다란 에칭 저항성을 보이는 것은 산화막의 화학적 조성차이에 기인하는 것이라 생각된다. $p^+$-Si이 에칭 용액내에서 anodic bias 상태에 농이게 되면 boron이 표면으로 diffuse-out되는 것을 SIMS 분석을 통해 알 수 있었는데, 그 원인은 아직 분명하지는 않지만, 이것은 실제 etch-stop이 일어나는 임계 boron 농도가 일반적으로 알려진 값보다 훨씬 높을 것이라는 것을 시사한다.

국내원전의 방사성유출물 배출현황과 특성에 대한 고찰 (A Review and Characteristics for Radioactive Effluents from the Nuclear Power Plants in Korea)

  • 국내에서는 2010년 말 기준으로 21기의 원전이 운전 중에 있다. 이에 따라 원전에서 배출되는 방사성유출물은 지속적으로 늘어나 2010년에는 547.12 TBq이 배출되었다. 국내원전의 기체와 액체 방사성유출물 배출량은 2001년에서 2010년까지 10년 동안 경수로원전의 경우에는 연평균 11.61 TBq/호기 수준으로 유지하고 있으며, 중수로원전의 경우 118.12 TBq/호기 수준으로 유지되고 있다. 이들 기체나 액체 방사성유출물의 배출 핵종의 대부분은 삼중수소로 나타났다. 이러한 배출경향과 분석 결과를 바탕으로 국내원전의 방사성유출물 관리에 대한 특성을 제시하였다.

Statistical Optimization of Medium Composition for Bacterial Cellulose Production by Gluconacetobacter hansenii UAC09 Using Coffee Cherry Husk Extract - an Agro-Industry Waste

  • During the production of grape wine, the formation of thick leathery pellicle/bacterial cellulose (BC) at the airliquid interface was due to the bacterium, which was isolated and identified as Gluconacetobacter hansenii UAC09. Cultural conditions for bacterial cellulose production from G. hansenii UAC09 were optimized by central composite rotatable experimental design. To economize the BC production, coffee cherry husk (CCH) extract and corn steep liquor (CSL) were used as less expensive sources of carbon and nitrogen, respectively. CCH and CSL are byproducts from the coffee processing and starch processing industry, respectively. The interactions between pH (4.5-8.5), CSL (2-10%), alcohol (0.5-2%), acetic acid (0.5-2%), and water dilution rate to CCH ratio (1:1 to 1:5) were studied using response surface methodology. The optimum conditions for maximum BC production were pH (6.64), CSL (10%), alcohol (0.5%), acetic acid (1.13%), and water to CCH ratio (1:1). After 2 weeks of fermentation, the amount of BC produced was 6.24 g/l. This yield was comparable to the predicted value of 6.09 g/l. This is the first report on the optimization of the fermentation medium by RSM using CCH extract as the carbon source for BC production by G. hansenii UAC09.
