고령지 개간지 밭의 토양수분과 경도 및 작물수량의 공간변이성 (Spatial Variability of Soil Moisture Content, Soil Penetration Resistance and Crop Yield on the Leveled Upland in the Reclaimed Highland)

  • 고령지 경사지에서 모래성분이 많은 사양토 (석비레) 개간지의 토양특성에 대한 공간변이성과 분포도를 작성하여 공간적 변이를 살펴보고자 각각 $10m{\times}50m$의 면적을 가지는 5개의 포장에서 감자, 양파, 당근, 배추, 무를 재배하여 시험을 수행하였다. 각 포장의 조사지점수는 토양수분 33, 토양경도 11, 작물수량 33이었다. Semivariance 분석 결과, 대부분의 모형은 spherical 모형을 따르고 있었으며, 각 모형에 대해 공간적으로 연속성이 인정되는 거리를 나타내는 범위 (range)는 감자재배구에서 33-35 m로 고르게 큰 값을 보였고, 배추재배지는 5-6 m로 모형에 대한 연속성이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 수분과 경도 및 수량에 대한 변이계수는 14-59%로 다양하였고, 감자수량의 변이계수가 59%로 가장 높았으며, 무재배지의 수분은 14%로 낮았다. 표준편차 5% 유의수준에서 10%의 오차를 가지는 경우를 기준으로 적정시료의 수를 조사한 결과, 필요한 시료수는 수분 8-40개, 경도 7-25개, 수량 424-4,6787개가 필요한 것으로 분석되었다. Variogram과 분포도를 통해 수분과 경도 및 작물수량의 공간적 분포 및 변이성을 쉽게 파악할 수 있으며, 이를 활용한다면 보다 효율적이고 정밀한 토양관리가 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

Holocene Environmental Change and Human Impact in Hoya Rincon de Parangueo, Guanajuato, Mexico

  • This paper presents a paleoenvironmental study on Hoya Rincon do Parangueo, a maar lake in Valle de Santiago in Central Mexican Bajio. Maar lake sediments have been widely used for high-resolution reconstruction of paleoenvironment. Many different paleoenvironmental proxy data such as stable isotopes, pollen, sediment chemistry, and dung fungus spore were produced in this study. The pine-oak ratio, stable isotopes, and sediment chemistry help to reveal paleoenviromental changes throughout the whole period covered by sediment materials from this study site. The evidence I found indicates that during ca. 9,500 $\sim$ ca. 8,300 cal yr B.P. there was dry climate; during ca. 8,300 $\sim$ ca. 6,300 cal yr B.P. it was wetter; during ca. 6,300 $\sim$ ca. 4,000 cal yr B.P. drier and cooler; during ca. 4,000 $\sim$ ca. 1,100 cal yr B.P. milder and wetter. The presence of Chupicuaro culture between ca. 2,500 $\sim$ 1,100 cal yr B.P. is implied by the high frequencies of Amaranthaceae and Zea mars. It seems that man left this lake around 1,100 cal yr B.P. due to a dry climate after 1,300 cal yr B.P. Spanish arrival around 400 cal yr B.P. is implied by the fact that fe3 mars reappears and Sporormiella spp. become significant around 120 cm, whereas Poaceae drops sharply.

Analysis of Changes in the Phytochemical Content of Tartary Buckwheat Flowers and Seeds during the Post-flowering Growth

  • Buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum), which is a traditional Korean crop, has been known as a health food due to its rich nutrition. This study was conducted to evaluate the change in flavonoid content of flowers and seeds during post-flowering growth of Korean tartary buckwheat variety 'Hwanggeummiso', with the aim of providing basic data for the development of functional food and feed additive. Tartary buckwheat took 69 and 99 days from the sowing date to reach the flowering and maturity stages, respectively. As a result of examining the flavonoid components of each part of tartary buckwheat, chlorogenic acid, rutin, and isoquercitrin of flowers increased from the flowering period on 22 May (0 days after flowering) to 42 days after flowering, while quercetin increased until 21 days after flowering and then decreased thereafter. In seeds, chlorogenic acid, rutin, and isoquercitrin were most abundant at the time of seed-bearing on 14 days after flowering, and showed a decreasing tendency thereafter. On the other hand, quercetin showed a tendency to increase until 21 days after flowering and then decrease. Overall, the flavonoid content was higher in flowers than in seeds, with rutin being particularly prominent. Based on this, the possibility as food materials and feed additives was confirmed using buckwheat produced in Korea.

The Hida metamorphic belt developed near the triple junction among the Sino-Korea, Yangtze and Proto-Pacific plates

  • The eastward extension of the suture zone between the Sino-Korea and Yangtze cratons in the Korean Peninsula and Japanese islands remains debatable (Hiroi, 1981; Cluzel et al., 1991; Yin and Nie, 1993; Sohma and Kunugiza, 1993; Isozaki, 1997; Arakawa et at., 2000), and is related to our understanding of the continent-continent collision orogeny. The collision orogeny varies in tectono-metamorphic processes and the timing differs from place to place, as exemplified by the absence of coesite and micro-diamond in the Korean Peninsula and Japanese islands, because it is a long-lived process of more than several tens of million years from subduction to exhumation in the Wilson cycle, and because the suture zone extends more than several thousand kilometers with a curved shape from the Qinling area of China to the Hida highland area of Japan. Hiroi (1981) is the first paper to correlate the Unazuki metamorphic rocks of the Hida metamorphic belt in Japan with the Ogcheon belt in the Korean Peninsula based on the presence of 240 Ma medium P/T metamorphic rocks in both belts, but there is a lack of recent studies on this correlation. To resolve the correlationship, there are two approaches: 1) petrological studies characterizing the origin and P-T history of rocks and 2) in-situ micro-dating of fine-grained, zoned minerals of zircon, monazite, uraninite and thorite using the EPMA (U-Th-Pb chemical dating or CHIME depending on calibration method) and the SHRIMP (Sensitive High-resolution ion Microprobe) to decipher the timing of geological events. As a first step of these approaches, micro-dating was undertaken to rocks of the Hida metamorphic belt and its Mesozoic cover (Tetori Group) in the Hida highland area, central Japan.

  • Vietnam is one of a country with an important strategic position in economic development in the Asia Pacific region. In addition, Vietnam has a longtime agricultural more than 70% of agricultural labor. With favorable natural conditions, agricultural growth in Vietnam is'key'to the developing countries. However, Vietnam's agriculture has still encounter many problems due to drought, climatic conditions, natural disasters. The level of development and agricultural production is weak, the process of post-harvest storage is limited and particularly agricultural competitiveness with other countries is obstacles. In fact, the Government of Vietnam decided to cooperate with other countries have highly developed agriculture such as America, Korea, Japan... hoping to get help and promote agricultural development in a sustainable manner. Since 1992, Vietnam and Korea established formal diplomatic relations. During 20 years of cooperation and development, We have been obtained many satisfactory results not only in fields invest infrastructure, technological science but also exchange experience especially in the agricultural sector. From the Korea ODA project, Vietnam's agriculture in general has made significant progress. With vision, ODA projects continues to support the Central Highlands region in which the Da Lat city, Lam Dong province. Pass the cooperation between Dongguk University and Da Lat University has many positive results. Hopefully in the near future, the relationship between Vietnam and Korea in general will continue to grow strongly, the Korea ODA project will be continue to support Vietnam's agriculture in general and in particularly for the Central Highlands which in Da Lat City, Lam Dong province.

종자친과 화분친을 달리한 옥수수의 품질 및 이화학 특성 (Quality and Physicochemical Characteristics of Korean Maize Hybrids according to the Seed and Pollen Parent)

  • This study investigated on the chemical components, quality characteristics, antioxidant compounds, and activity of maize hybrids according to the cultivar, and breeding maize seeds crossed with seed and pollen parent. The moisture, crude fat, crude ash, crude protein, carbohydrate, and amylose contents of maize hybrids were significantly different among cultivars, and seeded and pollinated maize. The L-, a- and b-value of maize hybrids were 39.81~47.21, -0.01~0.55 and 5.85~18.47, respectively. Water binding capacity, water solubility index and swelling power were 123.29~153.32, 4.69~5.76 and 20.11~21.47%, respectively. The phenolic compounds and radical scavenging activity of maize hybrids were significantly different among cultivars, and seeded and pollinated maize. Total polyphenol and flavonoid contents of maize hybrids were 1,335.41~1,876.29 ㎍/g and 184.24~453.95 ㎍ CE/g, respectively. The DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities were 171.75~239.16 and 299.44~364.09 mg TE/100 g, respectively. As a result, it could be used as a basic data for cultivating phenol compounds and antioxidant activity in maize breeding.

The extent of soil organic carbon and total nitrogen in forest fragments of the central highlands of Ethiopia

  • Background: Deforestation and degradation are currently affecting the ecosystem services of forests. Among the ecosystem services affected by deforestation and degradation are the amount of soil organic carbon (SOC) and total nitrogen (TN) stored in forest soils which have greater impacts in global climate change. This study aimed at examining the amount of SOC and TN in the forest fragments which were separated from the continuous tracts of forests of Jibat and Chillimo through fragmentation processes over four decades. Methods: We have sampled soils from 15 forest fragments of Chillimo and Jibat in the central highlands of Ethiopia. The soil samples obtained in two separate soil depths (0-30 and 30-60 cm) were bulked, dried, and sieved for analysis. Results: Our results have shown that the two sites (Jibat and Chillimo forest fragments) differed in their SOC and TN contents. While the values for Jibat were found to be 29.89 Mg/ha of SOC and 2.84 Mg/ha for TN, it was 14. 06 Mg/ha of SOC and 1.40 Mg/ha for TN for Chillimo. When all forest fragment soil samples were bulked together, Jibat site had twice the value of SOC and TN than Chillimo. When disaggregated on the basis of each fragments, there existed differences in SOC (1.86 Mg/ha and 42.15 Mg/ha) and TN (0.24 Mg/ha and 4.23 Mg/ha) values. Among the forest fragments, fragment four ($F_4$) had the highest Relative Soil Improvement Index (RSII) value of 3826.82% and fragment fifteen ($F_{15}$) had the lowest RSII value (726.87%) which indicated that the former had a better quality of soil properties than the latter. Conclusion: SOC and TN differed across sampled fragments and sites. Variations in soil properties are the reflections of inherent soil parent material, aboveground vegetation, human interferences, and other physical factors. Such differences could be very important for identifying intervention measures for restoration and enhancing ecosystem services of those fragments.

베트남 중부고원지대 커피농가의 사회경제적 격차: 민족성의 영향을 중심으로 (Socio-Economic Differentials along the Ethnic Line among Coffee Farms in Central Highland, Vietnam)

  • 베트남 중부고원 지대는 1986년 개혁개방 이후 커피생산의 비약적 증대, 글로벌 커피시장과의 적극적 연계 등을 통해 베트남뿐만 아니라 세계 유수의 커피생산 지역으로 변모하였다. 중부고원지대 커피산업의 비약적 발전은 베트남 저지 주민의 대규모 유입과 맞물려 진행되었다. 그 결과 중부고원지대는 소수민족 중심 사회에서 저지 출신 주류 민족, 킨(Kinh)족 중심 사회로 변모하였다. 한편 커피산업의 발전은 중부고원지대 가족농의 사회경제적 격차 나아가 계층 분화를 촉발하는 계기가 되었다. 커피 재배 여부 및 커피재배에서의 생산성 격차가 그대로 사회경제적 격차로 발현되었다. 이 과정에서 민족간 사회경제적 격차 문제, 소수민족의 주변화 문제가 부각되었다. 민족간 사회경제적 격차는 단순히 커피재배 참여 여부만이 아니라 커피경영에 있어서 수익성 격차에 의해서도 나타나고 있다. 기존 연구들은 소수민족농가의 커피 경영에 있어서 상대적 저효율이 소수민족의 인적 자본 및 사회적 자본의 취약성과, 문화적 특성에 따른 상업적 농업 부적응 측면을 지적하였다. 하지만 기존 연구들은 여전히 생산성의 격차가 발생하는 구체적인 메카니즘을 충분히 밝히지 못하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 소수민족 원주민 커피농가와 다수민족 이주민 커피농가의 커피 생산 판매 과정을 비교 분석하여 커피소득 격차가 나타나게 되는 원인을 규명하고자 하였다. 사례 연구로 닥락 성의 다수민족 이주민인 킨족과 소수민족 원주민인 에데(Ede )족 커피농가를 설문하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 민족성은 커피농가간 토지생산성 격차를 설명하는 핵심 변인으로 확인되었다. 아울러 소수민족 커피농가의 낮은 생산성은 취약한 자본에 따른 조방적 경영, 부채 문제, 나아가 낮은 소득과 부채부담으로 인한 비효율적 판매전략-대표적으로 판매시기 조절-에서 비롯되는 것으로 판명되었다.

제2형 당뇨 동물모델에서 일반메밀과 쓴메밀의 항당뇨 효과 비교 (Anti-diabetic effects of common buckwheat and tartary buckwheat in type II diabetes animal model)

  • 메밀은 전 세계적으로 곡식, 싹, 차 등 다양한 형태로 이용되고 있으며, 주요 재배종으로는 일반메밀과 쓴메밀이 있다. 본 연구는 일반메밀과 쓴메밀 종실과 전초를 대상으로 항산화 및 항당뇨 활성 효과를 평가하였다. 루틴 함량은 쓴메밀 추출물이 일반메밀 추출물보다 44-48배 이상 높았으며, 퀘세틴은 전초에서만 검출되었다. 플라보노이드 및 폴리페놀 함량도 쓴메밀 추출물이 일반메밀 추출물보다 2.5-4.8배 높았다. STZ 투여로 제2형 당뇨가 유발된 동물모델에 일반메밀과 쓴메밀의 종실과 전초를 급여하여 공복혈당, 경구 내당능, 인슐린 내성 변화, 혈중 포도당 및 인슐린 농도 등을 통해 항당뇨 효과를 확인하였다. 종실의 경우는 일반메밀에 비해 쓴메밀 종실군에서 경구 내당능 효과가 뛰어났으며, 혈청 포도당 농도도 유의적으로 감소하는 것을 확인하였다. 전초의 경우, 일반메밀이나 쓴메밀 급여 실험군에서 모두 당뇨대조군에 비하여 유의적인 항당뇨 효과를 보였으며, 인슐린 저항성 지표인 HOMA-IR과 인슐린 민감성 지표인 QUICKI를 비교해본 결과에서도 종실과 전초 섭취군 모두 인슐린 저항성을 감소시키고, 인슐린 민감성을 증가시키는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과들을 고려하면 루틴 함량 및 항산화활성이 쓴메밀 전초의 경우 항당뇨 효과와 밀접한 관계가 있으며, 루틴 함량과 항산화 활성이 높은 쓴메밀 종실 및 일반메밀과 쓴메밀 전초는 항당뇨 식의약 소재로 활용 가능성이 높은 것으로 판단된다.

Prediction of sediment flow to Pleikrong reservoir due to the impact of climate change

  • Pleikrong reservoir with a concrete gravity dam that impound more than 1 billion cubic meter storage volume is one of the largest reservoir in Central Highland of Vietnam. Sedimentation is a major problem in this area and it becomes more severe due to the effect of climate change. Over time, it gradually reduces the reservoir storage capacity affecting to the reliability of water and power supply. This study aims to integrate the soil and water assessment tool (SWAT) model with 14 bias-corrected GCM/RCM models under two emissions scenarios, representative concentration pathway (RCP) 4.5 and 8.5 to estimate sediment inflow to Pleikrong reservoir in the long term period. The result indicated that the simulated total amount of sediment deposited in the reservoir from 2010 to 2018 was approximately 39 mil m3 which is a 17% underestimate compared with the observed value of 47 mil m3. The results also show the reduction in reservoir storage capacity due to sedimentation ranges from 25% to 62% by 2050, depending on the different climate change models. The reservoir reduced storage volume's rate in considering the impact of climate change is much faster than in the case of no climate change. The outcomes of this study will be helpful for a sustainable and climate-resilient plan of sediment management for the Pleikrongreservoir.
