  • We have newly developed transflective LCDs with a specific sub-pixel and the single cell gap structure. In our structure, the overall transmittance and reflectance has become higher than typical transflective LCDs. Furthermore, it can simplify the fabrication process of the transflective LCDs.

  • An analytical pinning-voltage model of a pinned photodiode has been proposed and derived. The pinning-voltage is calculated using doping profiles based on shallow- and exponential-junction approximations. Therefore, the derived pinning-voltage model is analytically expressed in terms of the process parameters of the implantation. Good agreement between the proposed model and simulated results has been obtained. Consequently, the proposed model can be used to predict the pinning-voltage and related performance of a pinned photodiode in a CMOS active pixel sensor.

  • Purpose: To clarify the usefulness and the limitation of Digora system/sup (R)/ by evaluating the physical characteristics as the quantitative image on Image Plate(Ip). Materials and Methods: Radiograms were taken by Heliodent MD(Siemens Co.. Germany) with the image plate for adult. Cu-step wedge as reference material. and three pieces of dry mandibular bone. Image analysis was performed by single color enhancement. density measurement with histogram. The relationship between the exposure conditions and the distribution of the pixel values of the image. the variation of pixel values of each step of Cu-step wedge at two different area and Cu-equivalent value of three pieces of dry mandibular bone measure by the conversion equation. Results: There was no linear relationship between the exposure condition and the average pixel value of the image. of which the distribution was not even. The pixel value differences between the center portion and the periphery were ranged from 60 to 70 in vertical plane and from 15 to 26 in horizontal plane. Two plot profile formed at two different areas of the Cu-step wedge were different. The measured Cu-equivalent values showed the discrepancy among the times of measurement. Conclusion: As above results. Image Plate(Ip) of Digora system/sup (R)/ showed the limitation as the quantitative image. The physical property of IP was expected to need to be compensated for the quantitative evaluation of the bone or others

  • We have studied electro-optic characteristics as a function of passivation thickness existing between common electrode and pixel electrodes in the fringe-field switching (FFS) mode using the LC with positive dielectric anisotropy. A steep increase in the transmission is observed with increase in the passivation layer from $0.29{\mu}m$ to $1.09{\mu}m$ and thereafter it almost saturates over the $1.09{\mu}m$ of passivation layer. This saturation is mainly associated with correlation between transmittance at the center region of pixel electrode and at the center region between pixel electrodes. From the results, optimal thickness of passivation layer can be defined.

  • We studied the external pressure-stable advanced frnge field switching (FFS) pixel design with 3 slit sructue. In this mode, a patterned pixel slit is partitioned into 3 areas, namely, two edges and a center, where the edge slit angle is larger than the center slit angle. Thus the reverse twist region in the pixel edge is reduced comparing to the conventional FFS mode so that the LC dynamics in this region becomes very stable. And also, when the external pressure is applied to the panel at the high voltage, the disclination lines (DLs) were barely intruded into active area. Therefore, the structure is use for the pen based system such as the tablet personal computer (PC), personal digital asistant (PDA).

  • A high voltage NMOSFET is proposed to drive top emission organic light emitting device (OLED) used in the organic electroluminescent (EL) display on the single crystal silicon substrate. The high voltage NMOSFET can be fabricated by utilizing a simple layout technique with a standard CMOS logic process. It is clearly shown that the maximum supply voltage ($V_{DD}$) required for the pixel-driving transistor could reach 45 V through analytic and experimental methods. The high voltage NMOSFET was fabricated by using a standard 1.5 ${\mu}m$, 5 V CMOS logic process. From the measurements, we confirmed that the high voltage NMOSFET could sustain the excellent saturation characteristic up to 50 V without breakdown phenomena.

  • In this paper, a new Twisted Nematic (TN) transflective liquid crystal display configuration with single cell gap for both transmissive and reflective mode and without sub-pixel separation is proposed. The Transmittance vs. Voltage Curve (TVC) and Reflectance vs. Voltage Curve (RVC) are matched.

  • LCDs with an additional white sub-pixel (RGBW LCDs) have been developed mainly to achieve higher panel transmittance. However this RGBW pixel structure causes the perceptual color difference between RGBW and RGB LCDs due to decreased primary color luminance. To solve this problem, we proposed and developed RGBW conversion algorithms that function adaptively as a displayed image changes. The test results show that the perceptual color difference could be solved to some degree by applying these new algorithms.

  • In this paper, the abdominal-deformation measurement scheme is conducted on a shape-flexible mannequin using the DIC technique in a stereo-vision system. Firstly, during the integer-pixel displacement search, a novel fractal dimension based on an adaptive-ellipse subset area is developed to track an integer pixel between the reference and deformed images. Secondly, at the subpixel registration, a new mutual-learning adaptive particle swarm optimization (MLADPSO) algorithm is employed to locate the subpixel precisely. Dynamic adjustments of the particle flight velocities that are according to the deformation extent of each interest point are utilized for enhancing the accuracy of the subpixel registration. A test is performed on the abdominal-deformation measurement of the shape-flexible mannequin. The experiment results indicate that under the guarantee of its measurement accuracy without the cause of any loss, the time-consumption of the proposed scheme is significantly more efficient than that of the conventional method, particularly in the case of a large number of interest points.

  • This paper describes a novel stereo vision based localization of free parking site, which recognizes the target position of automatic parking system. Pixel structure classification and feature based stereo matching extract the 3D information of parking site in real time. The pixel structure represents intensity configuration around a pixel and the feature based stereo matching uses step-by-step investigation strategy to reduce computational load. This paper considers only parking site divided by marking, which is generally drawn according to relevant standards. Parking site marking is separated by plane surface constraint and is transformed into bird's eye view, on which template matching is performed to determine the location of parking site. Obstacle depth map, which is generated from the disparity of adjacent vehicles, can be used as the guideline of template matching by limiting search range and orientation. Proposed method using both the obstacle depth map and the bird's eye view of parking site marking increases operation speed and robustness to visual noise by effectively limiting search range.
