In herbal medicine, the water celery has a medical actions which are defervescence, diuresis, hypotensor, appetizer. Recently, studies on the water celery are briskly being conducted. For example, studies on the morphologic property and classifications of origin of the water celery, studies on the chemical constituents of the Water celery, studies on the bio activities of the water celery which contains flavonoids. However, there is not studies of hematological changes in dogs administrated the water celery until now. Consicontly, this study was conducted to observe the hematological changes in dogs administrated excessive amount of the water celery concentrated extract for a long period. In this studies, all dogs showed significantly decrease of the RBC, PCV, Hb and MCHC, and increase of the WBC, MCV, GSH and reticulocytes, but did not significantly change in the Met-Hb.
The water celery, Oenanthe Javanica DC., is a perennial herb which mostly grows on a damp ground or a streamside. The water celery is widely distributed in Korea, Japan, china, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia and the other countries. From ancient times, the water celery has widely been used for food or medicine. In herbal medicine, the water celery has a medical actions which are defervescence, diuresis, jaundice, edema, hypotensor, haematic, angiostasis, sthenia, appetizer. Recently, studies on the water celery are briskly being conducted. For example, studies on the morphologic property and classifications of origin of the water celery, studies on the chemical constituents of the water celery which contains vitamins, proteins and amino acids, studies on the bio activities of the water celery which contains flavonoids. However, there is not studies of hematological changes in dogs administrated the water celery until now. Consicontly, this study was conducted to observed the hematological changes in dogs administrated excessive amount of the water celery crude juice for a long period. In this studies, all dogs showed significantly decrease of the PCV and Hb, and increase of the WBC, GSH and reticulocytes, but did not significantly change in the RBC, MCV, MCHC and Met-Hb.
Occurrence of soft rots was observed on celery that was massively grown in Pyungchang, Kangwon-Do, Korea. Soft rot symptom appeared first on the lower parts of the celery which eventually extended into whole aboveground parts of it. The casual organism isolated from the infected lesions was identified as Erwinia carotovora subsp. carotovora based on the physiological and chemical characteristics, and on the results of the Biolog program (Biolog Inc., U. S. A.). E. carotovora subsp. carotovora is the first described bacterium which causes the bacterial soft rot disease on celery in Korea.
The management of sensor information requires the functions for registering, modifying and deleting rapidly sensor information about various many sensors. In this research, Celery and MongoDB are used for developing a sensory data management system. Celery supplies a queue structure based on asynchronous communication in Python. Celery is a distributed simple job-queue but reliable distributed system suitable for processing large message. MongoDB is a NoSQL database that is capable of managing various informal information. In this experiment, we have checked that variety of sensor information can be processed with this system in a IoT environment. To improve the performance for handling a message with sensory data, this system will be deployed in the edge of a cloud infrastructure.
Antifungal activity of celery essential oil against Malassezia furfur was investigated using broth microdilution and vapor contact methods. Potent antifungal activity was evident using both methods. Fungicidal activity was revealed in the vapor contact method.

The effects of a combined treatment of aqueous chlorine dioxide ($ClO_2$) and ultraviolet-C (UV-C) irradiation on microbial growth in celery and cherries were investigated. Celery and cherry samples were treated with 50 ppm $ClO_2$, UV-C at dose of 10 kJ/$m^2$, and a combination of $ClO_2$ and UV-C. The changes in the counts of Escherichia coli O157:H7 inoculated in the celery and cherries as well as those of total aerobic bacteria, yeast and molds in the celery and cherries were investigated after each treatment. After the combined treatment of aqueous $ClO_2$ and UV-C irradiation, the populations of E. coli O157:H7 in the inoculated celery and cherries were reduced by 2.8 and 3.0 log CFU/g, respectively, compared to those of the control. For the un-inoculated celery and cherries, the populations of total aerobic bacteria were reduced by 2.9 and 1.8 log CFU/g, respectively, compared to the control. In addition, the populations of yeast and molds were decreased by 1.8 and 1.2 log CFU/g, respectively. These results suggest that the combined treatment of 50 ppm $ClO_2$ and UV-C at a dose of 10 kJ/$m^2$ would be an effective technology for decontamination and improving the microbiological safety in celery and cherries during chilled storage.

In order to obtain the basic information for agricultural utilization of Germanium(Ge), the growth characteristics and the germanium uptake by water celery were investigated at different concentration of germanium in soil. This experiment was carried out in the Wagner pot(1 $5,000^{-1}a$). Germanium concentrations in soil for water celery cultivation were maintained at 0.26, 25.0, 62.5, and 125.0 mg $kg^{-1}$, respectively. The treatment of over Ge 25.0 mg $kg^{-1}$ in the soil led to germanium phytotoxicity such as reduction of plant height and fresh weight. The contents of germanium in water celery were increased with the increase of germanium concentration in the soil. When water celery was cultivated from soil maintained with Ge 25.0 and 62.5 mg $kg^{-1}$, its germanium contents in plant were 89.9 and 371.6 mg $kg^{-1}$, respectively. Then, the efficiency of germanium uptake of water celery in Ge 25.0 and 62.5 mg $kg^{-1}$ maintained plots was 1.7 and 2.4%, respectively. When water celery was cultivated from soil maintained with Ge 25.0, 62.5 and 125.0 mg $kg^{-1}$, its content of amino acid was found to be 89.8, 198.4, and 318.2 mg $g^{-1}$, respectively. To investigate the effect of N fertilizer application in uptake of germanium by water celery, these were treated with nontreatment, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 times of N application based on soil testing for cultivation of water celery. However, the amount of the N fertilizer application did not affect the contents of germanium in the water celery. When water celery was cultivated from soil maintained with two kinds of inorganic and organic germanium 50 mg $kg^{-1}$, respectively, the content of germanium were 24.2 mg $kg^{-1}$ in the Ge-132 treatment and 11.8 mg $kg^{-1}$ in the $GeO_2$ treatment.
The objective of this study was to investigate the quality properties of sausages added with the atmospheric pressure plasma treated extract of Perilla frutescens Britton var. acuta Kudo (red perilla). The lyophilized powder of red perilla extract treated by atmospheric-pressure plasma contained 7.5 g kg-1 nitrite. Sausage samples were manufactured with the addition of sodium nitrite (Control), celery powder (Celery), or plasma-treated extract of red perilla (PTP) to obtain nitrite concentration of 70 mg kg-1. The residual nitrite content was the lowest in PTP during storage for 21 days at 4℃ (p<0.05). The total aerobic bacteria counts were higher in PTP than in Control and Celery during storage at 4℃ (p<0.05). Malondialdehyde content of sausages was significantly lower in PTP than in Control and Celery during storage (p<0.05). PTP showed the lowest L* value and the highest b* value among the tested sausage samples during storage (p<0.05). PTP received the low scores in all the sensory properties of sausages because of its inherent color and flavor. The results suggested that the plasma-treated extract of red perilla was an unsuitable natural nitrite source for cured meat products because of its adverse effect on sensory quality. However, natural nitrite source with increased nitrite content can be produced by the treatment of the natural plant extract with atmospheric-pressure plasma.
Meat industries utilize plant material such as celery in cured meat products. Extraction of valuable bioactive compounds, nitrates and nitrites often involves processes that increase cost or lack sustainability. Thus, this study investigated the effect of ball-milled celery powders (CP) on the physicochemical, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties along with curing efficiency in comminuted meat product. Pork sausages loaded with CPs with different average particle sizes: 265 ㎛ (T1), 68 ㎛ (T2) and 7 ㎛ (T3) were compared to those added without and with sodium nitrite (150 ppm). The a⁎ values were increased for sausages with larger particle size. The L⁎ values decreased for all CPs. Residual nitrite for all particle sizes increased in the earlier stages and decreased at the end of storage period. The curing efficiency also increased for larger size particles with an increase until day 9 followed by a gradual decrease. Superfine CP had a tendency to improve the antioxidant activities. The antimicrobial activity of CPs was not comparable with nitrite added sausages. The textural parameters remained unaffected by particle size. Thus, instead of extracts or juices, micronized CPs could be used to improve the antioxidant activities and curing efficiency of label friendly reformulated meat products.
This study was conducted to investigate changes in blood properties of high potassium (HK) phenotype Jindo dogs (15kg$\pm$2kg) after daily oral administration with water celery extracts (10 ml/kg) for 7 days. Blood samples were collected for three days in a row before administration of water celery extracts. After water celery extracts administration, blood samples were collected at 3h, 6h, 9h and then on daily basis until day 10 post administration (PA). At day 15, final sample was collected. Blood samples were analyzed on the basis of red blood cell (RBC), white blood cell (WBC), packed cell volume (PCV), hemoglobin (Hb) concentration, mean corpuscular volume(MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration(MCHC), gluthathione concentration(GSH) and met-hemoglobin(Met-Hb) concentration. The significant changes (p<0.01, p<0.05) of RBCs were shown at 3 h to day 5, and days 7 and 9 after administration. PCV values were decreased form 3 h to day 10 after administration. Mean Hb concentration showed significant increase as 3 h to day 3, and day 6 to day 9 after administration. The significant changes (p<0.05) of WBCs were shown at 9 h and day 1 after administration. The increased numbers of MCV were detected at days 6 to 9 after administration (p<0.05, p<0.01). The significant changes of MCHC were shown at 9h and day 1 after administration. The significant increases (p<0.01, p<0.05) of GSH concentration were detected at days 1, 6 and 7 after administration. In Met-Hb concentration, the significant increases (p<0.05) occurred at only 9h and day 7 after administration, The significant increases (p<0.01, p<0.05) of reticulocyte were detected at days 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7. Data from blood samples collected at day 15 after administration showed that all of blood analysis results returned to normal level, compared to controls.
