  • Enzyme fuel cells were composed of enzyme cathode and PEMFC anode. Enzyme cathode was fabricated by compression of a mixture of graphite particle, laccase as a enzyme and ABTS as a redox mediator, and then coated with Nafion ionomer. Open circuit voltage (OCV) were measured with variation of cathode manufacture factors, to find optimum condition of enzyme cathode. Optimum pressure was 4.0 bar for enzyme cathode pressing process. Highest OCV was obtained at 95% graphite composition in enzyme cathodee. Optimum glucose concentration was 0.4 mol/l in cathode substrate solution.

  • In this paper, the cathode materials of solid oxide fuel cell were fabricated, and the analysis of TG/DTA, XRD, thermal expansion and electric conductivity were investigated. As a result, thermal expansion coefficient of LSM was not quite different from that of electrolyte. And the performance of LSM(x=0.4) was more excellent than the others.

  • In the electron-gun of CRT, the Mo-tip FEA was employed as cold cathode in order to replace the conventional thermal cathode. The Mo-tip FEA was designed and fabricated according to CRT specification and mounted on the electron-gun. It was known that fabricated cold cathode electron-gun showed better performance in terms of maximum emission current and switch-on time when compared with the ones of thermal cathode electron-gun, but some geometrical structures in the inside of electron-gun must be changed to reduce the gate leakage current. Finally, the potential applicability was guaranteed by means of operating the 19 inch-sized LG-color CRT using the fabricated cold cathode electron-gun.

  • In the segmented-in-series solid-oxide fuel cells (SIS-SOFCs), fabrication techniques which use decalcomania paper have many advantages, i.e., an increased active area of the electrode; better interfacial adhesion property between the anode, electrolyte and cathode; and improved layer thickness uniformity. In this work, a cell-stack was fabricated on porous ceramic flattened tube supports using decalcomania paper, which consists of an anode, electrolyte, and a cathode. The anode layer was $40{\mu}m$ thick, and was porous. The electrolyte layers exhibited a uniform thickness of about $20{\mu}m$ with a dense structure. Interfacial adhesion was improved due to the dense structure. The cathode layers was $30{\mu}m$ thick with porous structure, good adhesion to the electrolyte. The ohmic resistance levels at 800, 750 and $700^{\circ}C$ were measured, showing values of 1.49, 1.58 and $1.65{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$, respectively. The polarization resistances at 800, 750 and $700^{\circ}C$ were measured to be 1.63, 2.61 and $4.17cm^2$, respectively. These lower resistance values originated from the excellent interfacial adhesion between the anode, electrolyte and cathode. In a two-cell-stack SOFC, open-circuit voltages(OCVs) of 1.915, 1.942 and 1.957 V and maximum power densities(MPD) of 289.9, 276.1 and $220.4mW/cm^2$ were measured at 800, 750 and $700^{\circ}C$, respectively. The proposed fabrication technique using decalcomania paper was shown to be feasible for the easy fabrication of segmented-in-series flattened tube SOFCs.

  • 1.52" $130(RGB){\times}130$ full color PM OLED device with $70\;{\mu}m{\times}210\;{\mu}m$ of sub-pixel pitch was fabricated using shadow mask method for metal cathode deposition. Instead of conventional patterning process to form cathode separator via photolithography, regularly patterned shadow mask was applied to deposit metal cathode in this OLED display. Metal cathode was patterned via 2-step evaporation using shadow mask with shape of rectangular stripe and its alignment margin is $2.5\;{\mu}m$. Technical advantages of this method include reduction of process time according to skipping over photolithographic process for cathode separator and minimizing pixel shrinkage caused by PR cathode separator as well as improving lifetime of OLED device.

  • In this study, we prepared sputtering cathode for large sputtering thin film in the facing targets sputtering(FTS) system. Before fabrication of cathode equipment, we investigated optimal magnetic flux in the sputtering cathode by using magnetic field stimulation(Comsol). According to the result of magnetic field stimulation, we manufactured the cathode. After we mounted laboratory-designed cathode on FTS system, the discharge properties were observed in vacuum condition. In addition, ITO films were deposited on glass substrate and their electrical and optical properties were investigated by various measurements (four-point probe, UV-VIS spectrometer, field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM), Hall-effect measurement).

  • Aquesous carbon nanotubes (CNTs) solutions were prepared using SDS (sodium dodecyl sulfonate) and NADDBS (sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate). Our inks are found to have the viscosity of 1-2 cps. In addition, the surface tension of inks inversely decreased with increasing surfactant concentration and then saturated at critical micelle concentration (CMC). The low surface tension at CMC gave rise to lower contact angles on Indium layers, resulting in larger printable feature sizes. In the fabrication of cold cathode, jet-printing is feasible to modify and scale up the cathode structures. These feasibilities could contribute jet-printing method to be more adaptable for making large-area cold cathodes.

  • The fabrication of complex three-dimensional electrodes for micro electrical discharge machining (micro-EDM) is an important issue in the field of micromachining Localized electrochemical deposition (LECD) is a simple and inexpensive technique for fabricating micro-EDM electrodes. This study presents a new process for manufacturing electrodes with complex cross-sections using masks of different shapes, In this process, a non-conductive mask is placed between an anode and cathode that are immersed in a plating solution of acidified copper sulfate. The LECD is achieved by applying a pulsed voltage between the anode and cathode, which are separated by a small distance. In this setup, the cathode is placed above the anode and the mask, so that the deposited electrode can be used directly for EDM without changing the tool orientation. We found that the microstructure of the deposited electrode is influenced by the concentration of the plating solution and organic additives. Moreover, the values of the voltage, frequency, and duty cycle of the pulsed input have significant effects on the microstructure of the fabricated electrode. Finally, the optimum values of the voltage, frequency, and duty cycle were determined for the most effective fabrication of complex-shaped electrodes.
