Active Control of a High-Speed Pantograph using LQ-Servo Controller

  • The high investment is necessary for the new high speed lines. So the KRRI was interested in the possibility of upgrading the existing line in order to speed up the train in the conventional lines. The tilting train system has been developed because the reconstruction of railway for the cant compensation costs very high. The purpose of the tilting system is to compensate the centrifugal acceleration in order to reduce the lateral acceleration of the passenger at high speed on the curves.The pantograph of the tilting train is indispensable in order to supply the electrification equipments with power in safe. The dynamic interaction between the pantograph and the overhead catenary system causes the variation of the contact force and the contact force variation can cause contact losses, arcing and sparking. If the spark happens between the pantograph and the overhead catenary system, the EMI(electro magnetic interface) and noises may occur. After all, the quality of current collection is deteriorated. This paper deals with the active control of pantograph and presents the LQ-servo controller to reduce the contact force variation.

능동 판토그래프 제어기 설계에 관한 연구 (Design of Active Pantograph Controller)

The pantograph in train is indispensable in order to supply the electrification equipments with power in safe. The pantograph and the overhead wire form a dynamic coupled system and they affect each other through the contact force. Unfortunately, as the operational speed of a train increases, the vibration of the pantograph and the overhead wire also increases. This may lead to a zero contact force between the pantograph head and the overhead wire, which can results in the loss of contact, arching and abrasion. If the arching and spark happen between the pantograph and the overhead catenary system, the EMI(electro magnetic interface) and noises may occur. After all, the quality of current collection is deteriorated. This paper describes the dynamic response between the pantograph and catenary system by the numerical simulations and presents the LQ-servo controller to reduce the contact force variation

  • 본 논문에서는 유한요소법을 이용하여 일정 장력을 받고 있는 가선계 모델에 대한 동적 접촉에 의한 파동 전파와 반사에 대한 연구를 연구하였다. 장력을 고려하기 위하여 새롭게 정의된 3 차원 빔 모델을 정의하였으며 이를 이산화하여 유한요소모델을 수립하였다. 또한 동적 접촉 해석을 위하여 라그랑지 승수법을 이용한 접촉 해석 모델을 정의하여 가선계와 질점하중간의 접촉해석을 수행하였다. 이동하중의 속도를 증가시키면서 발생하는 접촉력의 변화를 관찰하여 파동의 전파와 반사에 대한 수치적인 해를 구하였으며, 이를 이론적인 해와 비교하여 해석모델의 검증을 수행하였다.

  • The automatic tensioning device of the catenary system constantly maintains the tension of the trolley wire by absorbing the variations due to the elasticity of the line caused by temperature variation. The tension plays an important role in affecting the electric motorcar operation directly. This paper suggests the methodology of the life cycle extension and the maintenance of the automatic tensioning device by means of performance diagnosis of the pulley type automatic tensioning device which has been commonly used for the electric railway system. Through conducting performance diagnosis and comparative test for the wornout pulley type automatic tensioning device by replacing the components such as the bearing and the bearing shaft without replacing all the assembly, the tensioning device is analyzed whether it is properly functioned. Provided that the maintenance regulation is reinforced so as to implement the bearing replacement through periodical precise inspection along with random check-up inspection which is now carried out by the operating organizations, it is ensured that the life cycle extension and the reduction of maintenance cost of the tensioning device could be achieved.

전기철도의 전차선로 형상검측을 위한 광학기반 검측 장치 구현 (Implementation of Optical-based Measuring Instrument for Contact Wire Geometry in Electric Railway)

  • We propose an optical-based measuring instrument of catenary system in electric railway. This system was made to utilize line scan camera as inspecting system to measure the stagger and height of overhead contact wire in railway and composed with optical type source and FPGA-based image acquisition system with PCI slot. Vision acquisition software has been used for the application to programming interface for image acquisition, display, and storage with a frequency of sampling. To check the validity of our approach for the intended application, we monitored height and stagger in the overhead wire of a high-speed catenary system in Korea. The proposed optical-based measuring instrument to measure the contact wire geometry such as the hight and stagger shows promising on-field applications for online condition motoring. We expect that a new generation of real-time instruments with demanding various conditions motoring requirement in railway can be easily integrated into optical-based measuring instrument system.

400km/h 전차선로에서 사전이도가 집전성능에 미치는 영향에 대한 시뮬레이션 및 시험 (Simulation and Testing of the Effect of Current Collection Performance According to Pre-sag in 400km/h Overhead Contact Lines)

  • 400km/h급 전차선로가 우리나라에 시범 부설되었다. 400km/h 심플 커티너리를 설계함에 있어서 사전이도를 어떻게 해야 하는가는 관심이 집중된 엔지니어링 항목이다. 사전이도는 일정 고속 대역에서 집전성능을 향상시키는 것으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 400km/h 속도에서 효과에 대해서는 아직 정립되어있지 않다. 400km/h 커티너리에서 적절한 사전이도량을 파악하기 위하여 사전이도 0과 1/3000 조건에서 전차선과 팬터그래프 사이 동적 성능 예측 시뮬레이션을 실시하였다. 이 예측에 근거하여 400km/h 전차선로 설계에서는 0 사전이도를 채택하였다. 그리고 400km/h 전차선로 시범구간(28km)을 건설하면서 일부구간에 1/3000 사전이도 구간(약 1km)을 조성하였다. HEMU-430X 열차를 투입하여 사전이도 조성 구간을 포함하여 시범구간에서 접촉력 측정을 실시하였다. 본 논문에서는 사전이도 조성 구간과 사전이도가 없는 구간의 동적 성능(접촉력)에 대하여 기술하며 그 둘을 비교한다. 결론적으로 400km/h 전차선로에서 사전이도를 주지 않은 구간이 1/3000 사전이도 구간보다 양호한 동적(집전) 성능을 나타냄을 해석적 및 실험적 검토를 통하여 확인하였다.

  • 과거부터 고속전철 및 집전시스템과 같은 핵심 주요 시스템에 대한 성능을 검증하기 위한 정교한 시험방법과 평가절차는 국내외의 전문가들을 통해 연구되어져 왔다. 판토그라프의 접촉력 측정 하중센서는 판토그라프의 특성에 따라 특수제작이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 판토그라프와 가선시스템 간의 상호작용 특성을 평가하기 위한 항목인 접촉력을 측정하는 방법을 개선하기 위하여 개발된 스트레인 게이지 내장형 하중센서를 소개하고자 한다. 판토그라프에 직접 설치하여 수행한 정적 및 동적 검증의 결과는 매우 신뢰성을 가지고 있어 향후 고속전철용 판토그라프의 보다 효율적인 집전특성을 평가하기 위한 측정시스템의 일부로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

FPSO 다점 계류 시스템의 최적 설계 연구 (Study on Optimum Design of FPSO Spread Mooring System)

  • For a spread-moored FPSO (Floating Production, Storage, & Off-loading) subjected to environmental excitation from waves, current, and wind, a procedure to determine optimum length and stiffness of mooring lines is suggested using quasi-static frequency domain response analyses. Coupled relations between design parameters are closely examined. In consideration of this, optimized design parameters are proposed based on minimum weight condition. The initial design parameters for numerical analyses are calculated using the static catenary equation of mooring lines. It is demonstrated the line tension and vessel's offset are influenced by the mooring line length and stiffness. Accordingly it is suggested the optimum vessel's offset range should be determined considering line fatigue damage. The availability and limitation of the application of quasi-static analysis method for spread mooring system are explained by comparing the result of time domain analysis with one of frequency domain analysis.

  • At the neutral sections, There are neutral sections inserted in overhead contact line between the substations to divide different phase current sections of AC electrified lines. except convention line, a large stress occurs in the contact wire near the fittings under passing pantographs. So, in order to raise the train speed over 150km/h, a new type section has been adopted.

Study on Mooring System Design of Floating Offshore Wind Turbine in Jeju Offshore Area

  • This paper presents a mooring design procedure for a floating offshore wind turbine. Offshore environmental data for Jeju are taken from KHOA (Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Administration) and used for the environmental conditions in numerical analyses. A semi-submersible-type floating wind system with a 5-MW-class wind turbine studied by the DeepCwind Consortium is applied. Catenary mooring with a studless chain is chosen as the mooring system. Design deliverables such as the nominal sizes of chain and length of the mooring line are decided by considering the long-term prediction of the breaking strength of the mooring lines where a 100-year return period is used. The designed mooring system is verified using a fatigue calculation based on rain-flow cycle counting, an S-N curve, and a Miner's damage summation of rule. The mooring tension process is obtained from time-domain motion analyses using ANSYS/AQWA.
