This paper presents two different robust controllers for boost converters with two stages in a cascade. The first robust controller is monovariable; that is, the duty-cycle is the same for the two switches. The monovariable controller ensures that some prescribed constraints on pole placement and control effort are met, and optimizes the load disturbance rejection, while takes into account the uncertainty in certain parameters. The first controller is then compared with a multivariable robust controller; that is, with independent duty cycles in each switch. The multivariable controller takes into account the same uncertainty, constraints and optimization function. The comparison shows that the multivariable controller performs better at the expense of a slightly more complex implementation; that is, the multivariable controller provides a better rejection of the load disturbance. The paper also describes simulations and experimental results that are in perfect agreement with theoretical derivations.

In this paper a novel converter structure based on cascade converter family is presented. The suggested multilevel advanced cascade converter has benefits such as reduction in number of switches and power losses. Comparison depict that proposed topology has the least number of IGBTs among all multilevel cascade type converters which have been introduced recently. This characteristic causes low cost and small installation area for suggested converter. The number of on state switches in current path is less than conventional topologies and so the output voltage drop and power losses are decreased. Symmetric and asymmetric modes are analyzed and compared with conventional multilevel cascade converter. Simulation and experimental results are presented to illustrate validity, good performance and effectiveness of the proposed configuration. The suggested converter can be applied in medium/high voltage and PV applications.
This paper proposes a feedback linearization control scheme of AC/DC PWM converters with LCL input filters using no damping resisters. Feedback linearization techniques use a transformation from nonlinear system models into equivalent linear models in a simpler form. The feedback linearization scheme in this work has cascade structures unlike usual feedback linearization, therefore it has an advantage that it is possible to limit the capacitor current to a certain level. The performance of the proposed controller is validated with simulation and experimental results.
In this paper, various reduced parts converter topologies and control strategies for power factor correction and motor control are reviewed and systematic design methodology is developed. From this investigation, the converter topologies could be mainly categorized into cascade type and unified type. The detailed operational principles are examined and the performance comparison is derived to illustrate merits and limitations of the converters. Simulation results are provided to help the better understanding of the theoretical description and several experimental results are presented on prototype induction motor better brush less dc (BLDC) motor drives, along with cascade and unified type converters.
This paper discusses the measurement of frequency response functions for various dc-dc converters. The frequency domain identification procedure is applied to the measured frequency responses. The identified transfer functions are primarily used in developing behavioral models for dc-dc converters. Distributed power systems are based upon such converters in cascade, parallel and several other configurations. The system level analysis of a complete system becomes complex when the identified transfer functions are of high order. Therefore, a certain technique needs to be applied for order reduction of the identified transfer functions. During the process of order reduction, it has to be ensured that the system retains the dynamics of the full order system. The technique used here is based on the Hankel singular values of a system. A systematic procedure is given to retain the maximum energy states for the reduced order model. A dynamic analysis is performed for behavioral models based on full and reduced order frequency responses. The close agreement of results validates the effectiveness of the model order reduction. Stability is the key design objective for any system designer. Therefore, the measured frequency responses at the interface of the source and load are also used to predict stability of the system.

The emerging applications such as reliable back-up power system and renewable energy call for high boost U-n converter. The conventional topologies to get high output voltage are using flyback circuit, cascade converters, and coupled inductor DC-DC converter. They have the stress and loss related to the leakage energy which results in low efficiency Tn this paper, novel high boost converter is presented. It has a structure of cascade boost converter but only one switch. Therefore, drive circuit is simple and extreme duty ratio is eliminated. To verify the proposed circuit, theoretical analysis and experimental results has been done using a prototype power supply.

This paper introduces a new design and fabrication technology of 28 GHz low-cost up and down converter modules for digital microwave radios, The design of the converter module is based on unit circuit blocks, which are to be characterized using a special test fixture. Based on the cascade analysis of the module the 28 GHz up and down converter modules have been designed and implemented. The measured module performance agrees with the cascade analysis. New components such as a tapped edge-coupled filter and a new Ka-band waveguide-to-microstrip transition, which are less sensitive to fabrication tolerances, have been used in the module implementation.
In same cases of grid connected system using photovoltaic modules, high boosting ratio is required for the converters. Four topologies based on conventional boost converters are implemented according to the voltage doubler and cascade methods. The topologies are analyzed and compared according to its boosting ratio and configurations. Consequently, the suitability of four topologies for MIC application is considered by simulation results.

When 2 sets of PID controllers are coupled directly each other to configure a closed control loop on behalf of coupling a controller and a plant. the behaviors or this exclusive loop system are expected to be unique in inherent system responses. If its properties be disclosed and generalized well in advance, it is possible for us to use the results for the purpose of fault detection and performance monitoring between control stations from the stage of system design. particularly in such cases as cascade control systems. In this paper. general properties of the proposed system are analyzed firstly to check whether it is controllable and how its steady responses would be. To simplify calculation, the analysis has been performed based on the transfer equation derived from a modelled case which consists of 2 PI controllers and signal converters between them. including time delay element and first-lag element to consider the situation of signal transmission. The results acquired from simulation are suggested to show how it works actually.
