  • This study examined a model in which the relation between perceived contextual support and career indecision was expected to be mediated by coping self-efficacy and outcome expectancy for a sample of engineering students (N = 672). Structural equation analyses revealed that the link between contextual support and career indecision was fully mediated by coping self-efficacy and outcome expectancy. Statistically significant paths were found from contextual support to coping self-efficacy and outcome expectancy. Statistically significant paths were also found from self-efficacy and outcome expectancy to career indecision. In addition, there were significant gender differences in the mean scores of the variables and model fits. Implications for research and practice are discussed.

  • In this study, we consider the relationship between boundaryless career attitudes and career success and the mediating effect of networking behavior. Boundaryless career attitude refers to career attitude in which career paths can gain experience in various environments beyond the fence of a single employment situation. Based on a prior research review, research hypotheses were established for the relationship between boundaryless career attitudes and subjective·objective career success. In addition, three networking behaviors, one of the social capital, were set as mediators between the two variables. Verifying the research hypothesis shows that the boundaryless career attitude and subjective career success are in a significant positive relationship and that the relationship is completely mediated by contact maintaining, friendship, and task networking behaviors. The boundaryless career attitude is a significant positibe effect with objective career success, and this relationship has been shown to be completely mediated by friendship and task networking behavior. Based on the above research results, interpretations, implications, and future research directions were presented.

  • As an effort to further extend the existing understanding on the Psychology of Working Theory, this study examined gender differences in the paths to the attainment of decent work with Korean emerging adults. A total of 311 South Korean employees (mean age = 25.96, men = 94, women = 217) completed online questionnaires. We found that economic constraints inversely predicted work volition and career adaptability, which were positively relatedin turn, led to decent work. The overall indirect effect of work volition and career adaptability between economic constraints and decent work was significant., hHowever, the specific indirect effect of work volition and career adaptability was not significant. Further analyses showed a gender difference in the paths. Specifically, economic constraint was significantly negatively associated with work volition, and work volition predicted decent work only for women, but not for men. Moreover, economic constraint was significantly inversely associated with career adaptability, and career adaptability positively predicted decent work only for men, but not for women. Work volition mediated between economic constraints and decent work for women, while career adaptability had a mediating effect for men. It suggests that career resources for obtaining a decent work may be distinctive by genderdifferent groups.

  • The aim of this study was to provide practical information regarding career exploration to dental hygiene students. This study interviewed 15 senior dental hygienists (graduates of Y University Dental Hygiene program) who have worked in non-clinical fields for about three months from January 14, 2014 to April 28. The most frequently mentioned pieces of information that the senior dental hygienists wanted to convey to dental hygiene students were as followed. Contrary to popular belief, clinical experience was also required in non-clinical fields as the importance of clinical experience was quite often and widely emphasized and applied in such fields. High academic excellence and clinical performance were expected of junior dental hygienists and the senior dental hygienists expressed their hope for their juniors to pioneer new fields and areas of work that a dental hygienist can do. Most of the senior dental hygienists pointed out that to develop technical tools for career exploration as early as possible, such as during undergraduate years and to think about which career path to take, whether it is clinical or academic were significantly important factors for desirable career outcomes. Based on the results of this study, undergraduate dental hygiene students should be provided with opportunities to consider and explore various career paths during their undergraduate years and to communicate with their seniors for hands-on experience-based advices. This would in turn broaden each student's perspective beyond their knowledge or thought about the professional filed of dental hygiene. It was found that the majority of the senior dental hygienists agreed that their clinical experience was the source of their self-competence as a dental hygienist. Our study could be utilized as a valuable resource for future dental hygienists who wish to work in non-clinical fields.

To this end, we analyzed adolescents data from the 8th year survey(2018) of the 'Multicultural Adolescent Panel Study(MAPS)' provided by the National Youth Policy Institute(NYPI). As a result of the study, first, achievement motivation was found to have a significant and positive effect on career decision. Second, it was found that social withdrawal did not mediate the relationship between achievement motivation and career decision. Third, it was found that depression mediates the relationship between achievement motivation and career decision. Fourth, it was found that social withdrawal and depression sequentially mediate the relationship between achievement motivation and career decision. Based on the results of this study, we searched for social support measures to improve the career decision of multicultural adolescents and support their career paths, and suggested implications and limitations of the results of this study and suggestions for follow-up studies.

  • The purpose of this study is to resolve the factors that affect happiness levels and l Considering the increasing importance of maintaining and developing the careers of working mothers, this study sought to analyze the effect of the meaning of work (MOW) and child-based self-worth (CBSW) on the work-family interface and career commitment. This is the first exploratory study to examine MOW and CBSW as resources for working mothers. For 10 days, starting August 18, 2020, 309 working mothers were asked to complete a questionnaire commissioned by a professional research institute, and 250 valid samples were then analyzed. The analysis found, first, that MOW had statistically significant positive effects on work-family enrichment and family-work enrichment and a negative effect on work-family conflict. Second, CBSW had a positive effect on work-family and family-work conflicts. Third, work-family enrichment had a positive effect on career commitment, while work-family conflict had a negative effect on career commitment. Finally, the mediation effects of the three paths were determined: MOW→work-family enrichment→career commitment; MOW→family-work enrichment→career commitment; CBSW→work-family conflict→career commitment. These results suggest that, to better manage the career commitment of working mothers, attention should be paid to the MOW, CBSW, and work-family interface.
