A Study on the Job Career Patterns of Korean IT Personnel

  • With the increasing severity of the shortage of highly-skilled IT personnel, more and more attention is being paid to the professional career path and systematic career management of IT employees. Although some studies have been conducted to describe the current status of IT personnel, limited attempts have been made to analyze the career paths or career patterns of IT professionals from a longitudinal perspective. In this context, this study explored the job career patterns of IT professionals in Korea and examined their relationship with subjective and objective career success. To identify job career patterns over time, detailed information about jobs and positions were used and an optimal matching analysis (OMA) was conducted to calculate the dissimilarity matrix between employees' career sequences, while a cluster analysis was used to categorize the meaningful groups based on this dissimilarity data. This analysis revealed that career patterns among Korean IT personnel are more varied than previously thought. These career types have a significant relationship with individual profiles, such as age, education, industry and company size, and account for significant variations in the three main career success variables, i.e. quality of life, assessment of software quality, and wage level. It is expected that the findings of this study will contribute to refining the Korean career path so as to retain IT personnel, and raise the need to improve the low quality of life and poor SW work environment of IT personnel.

이공계 진로교육 프로그램이 과학영재 고등학생의 진로결정자기효능감, 진로결과기대, 그릿에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Career Education Program in Science & Engineering Fields to Career Outcome Expectation, Career Decision-Making Self-Efficacy and Grit for Science Gifted High School Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and apply of career education program in science and engineering fields for science gifted high school students. To do this, the career education program was developed and applied to science gifted high school students 129 in H-science gifted high school with K-institute. The results are followings. First, after participating in the career education program, the career decision making self-efficacy of students were increased significantly. Second, it has been increased that external factor of career outcome expectation and continuation effort of grit. In this study, it has showed educational effects of the career education programs that related to career recognition in science and engineering fields for science gifted high school students by developing and applying of program. Based on these results, it is necessary to recognize the importance of customized career education programs for science gifted high school students.

의과대학생을 위한 체제적 진로상담 모델과 전략 (A Systematic Career Advising Model and Strategies for Medical Students)

  • One of the important roles of medical schools is to support medical students in deciding upon their future career path or choosing their specialty. The purpose of this study is to suggest a career advising model and strategies for medical students through a systematic approach. This study consists of three parts. The first part introduces some main career theories: super's career development theory, career decision-making theory, social cognitive career theory, and ecosystem theory. The second part proposes a systematic career advising model using the results acquired from previous studies and theories. This model considers a medical school as a social system that consists of two domains (internal and external). This social system is considered as a complex where various factors interact with each other: students' individual characteristics, institutional policies and culture, curriculum and learning experience, students' perceived specialty characteristics, and aspects of the external environment such as healthcare systems. The third part suggests some career advising strategies based on a systematic approach that medical schools can apply. These research results can be used for designing career advising courses for medical students, integrating various career advising programs and resources of medical schools, and evaluating the outcomes of career advising programs at an institutional level.

의과대학생의 졸업 후 전공선택을 위한 진로지도 (Career Guidance to Help Medical School Students Choose a Specialty after Graduation)

  • The author recommends the creation of a nationwide career guidance program at the national level through the establishment of a long-term cohort, involving collaboration among medical schools nationwide. This cohort would be constructed for the purpose of analyzing correlations from admission to medical school to post-graduate education, facilitating the development of a career guidance program. This will aid in career development through students' self-analysis and competency building. Each medical school should operate a systematic career guidance program. Career guidance for post-graduate major selection should be included in the regular curriculum. Schools are advised to operate student counseling rooms for various career guidance services. For example, medical schools can operate 1:1 career counseling, academic counseling, career guidance surveys, psychological tests, and counseling. It is advisable to establish a mentor-professor system, connect mentor professors, and build a network of experts related to majors to provide immediate support according to students' needs. Professional mentor training should be provided to mentor professors. To provide opportunities for students to experience their career paths in advance, early clinical exposure, long-term integrated clinical practice, community-based clinical practice, participation in student research programs, career fairs, and student internship programs are recommended. In South Korea, it is necessary to systematically operate the internship system and make improvements to facilitate optical career choices. Additionally, considering the significant influence of social factors on students' career choices in South Korea, efforts should be made to identify and address the issues related to these social factors.

진로교육 집중학년·학기제에서 진로개발역량 강화를 위한 교과통합 진로교육 방안 연구 - 2015 개정 기술·가정교육과정을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Development of Subjects-integrated Career Education to Improve Career Development Competency in a Career Education Intensive Semester & Grade System: Focusing on 2015 Revised Technology & Home Economics Curriculum)

  • 본 연구는 진로교육 집중학년 학기제에서 진로개발역량 강화를 위한 가정교과통합 진로교육을 활성화하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 진로교육 집중학년 학기제에서 교과통합 진로교육의 동향, 고등학교 가정과 성취기준과 진로개발역량과의 관계 분석 및 가정교과통합 진로교육 방안을 탐색하고, 수업 사례를 개발하였다. 이 연구의 주요한 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 진로교육 집중학년 학기제에서 교과통합 진로교육의 중요성에도 불구하고 운영에 미흡한 점이 많다. 이에 2015 개정교육과정의 적용과 진로교육 집중학년 학기제의 확산을 앞두고 있는 시점에서 교과통합 진로교육을 위한 체계적인 준비가 요구된다. 둘째, 가정교과 3개 영역의 모든 성취기준은 진로개발역량과 관련성이 매우 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 가정교과는 학교 진로교육의 목표를 달성하고, 미래 인재로서 갖추어야 할 진로개발역량을 길러주는 핵심적인 교과임을 확인할 수 있었다. 셋째, 진로개발역량 강화를 위해 교육과정-교수 학습-평가의 연계를 중심으로 가정교과통합 진로수업 사례를 제시하였다. 본 연구의 제한점은 개발된 수업 사례를 현장에 적용하지 못해 그 효과를 확인하지 못한 것이다. 하지만 본 연구는 가정교과와 진로교육의 통합을 위한 기초 자료로서, 진로교육 집중학년 학기제에서 가정교과의 진로교육 활성화에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

부모의 성취압력 및 진로지도가 아동의 진로발달에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Parent's Accomplishment Pressure and Career Guidance on Children's Career Development)

  • 본 연구는 진로인식 단계에 있는 초등학생 5학년 59명을 대상으로 부모의 성취 압력 및 진로지도가 아동의 진로 발달에 미치는 영향을 연구하여 초등학교 아동의 진로발달 과정을 이해하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적에 따라 부모의 성취압력과 진로지도가 진로발달에 어떠한 설명력을 갖는지 알아보는 것을 연구문제로 설정하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 살펴보면 첫째, 부모의 성취압력, 진로지도와 아동의 진로발달 간에는 유의미한 상관이 있었다. 부모의 성취압력과 진로발달은 정적 상관관계를 보였으며, 진로발달의 하위 영역인 직업의 이해, 자기이해, 자율성과도 정적 상관이 있었다 또한, 진로지도와 아동의 진로발달역시 유의미한 상관관계가 있었다. 부모의 진로지도 하위 영역 중 정서적 지지를 제외한 영역들은 진로발 달 하위 영역과 유의미한 상관을 보였다. 둘째, 부모의 성취압력은 초등학교 아동의 진로발달을 설명하는 유의미한 변인이었다 부모의 성취압력은 직업선택의 합리성, 직업적 성 편견, 자긍심에는 의미 있는 설명력을 보이지 못했지만, 진로발달 총점, 진로지향성, 직업의 이해, 자기이해, 자율성을 유의미하게 설명하였다. 셋째, 부모의 진로지도는 초등학교 아동의 진로발달에 부모의 성취압력과 더불어 추가적인 설명력을 보였다. 하지만 진로지도의 하위 영역인 정서적 지지는 진로발달에 부적 상관을 보였다.

창업교육이 공과대학생의 진로결정에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effect of Entrepreneurship Education on Career Decision for College Engineering Students)

  • This study examined the effects of entrepreneurship education on the career decision of students in the College of Engineering. The purpose of this study was to examine the perceived desirability, perceived feasibility and the career decision - making effects of career decision - making self - efficacy as subjects of entrepreneurship education. This study was carried out by using PLS 3.0 for engineering students in an university. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, it shows that entrepreneurship education has a positive impact on perceived desirability, perceived feasibility. Second, perceived desirability and perceived feasibility have different effects on career decision making and entrepreneurship intention. Third, career decision self - efficacy affects entrepreneurship intention and career intention in career decision making. The results of this study suggest the importance of entrepreneurship education for career decision making and provide meaningful implications for educators and policy developers.

Career Exploration for Customized Career Curriculum Design

  • This study aims to assess the current status of career education at C University and to gather foundational data for developing a step-by-step career education curriculum and an integrated roadmap for curriculum and extracurricular career education. This research involves a comparative analysis of C University's enrolled students and external university students through a survey using the [University Career Exploration Model]. Data collection took place over one month in October 2023, and statistical analysis was conducted using the SPSS Statistics 25.0 program. The survey results enabled a comparative analysis of the career exploration processes and levels between enrolled students at C University and external university students. The proportion of enrolled students at C University responding positively to the career exploration process and level was high. Through this study, a better understanding of the career exploration processes and levels of university students was achieved. It is deemed necessary to conduct systematic research for continuous, tailored integration of curriculum and extracurricular career education at the university level.

대학의 진로지도 수업이 대학생 진로결정 자기효능감과 진로성숙도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Career Guidance Courses on Self-Efficacy in Career Path Decisions and Career Maturity of University Students)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 대학의 정규교과목으로 개설된 진로지도 수업의 교육적 효과를 검증하는데 있다. 이를 위해 효과 변인으로 대학생의 진로결정 자기효능감과 진로성숙도를 측정하였다. 연구대상은 4년제 대학의 2학년 학생 33명으로, 15주차의 진로지도 교과목을 수강하였다. 연구방법은 동일집단 사전·사후 측정설계로, 진로지도 수강 전·후 차이검증을 위해 대응표본 t-test를 실행하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생의 진로결정 자기효능감은 교과목 수강 전보다 수강 후가 높게 나타나 그 차이가 통계적으로 매우 유의하였다. 둘째, 대학생의 진로성숙도에 대한 수강 전·후의 차이는 통계적으로 유의미한 향상이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 고등교육과정의 진로지도 수업이 대학생의 진로결정 자기효능감과 진로성숙도 향상에 교육적 효과가 있음을 입증해 주었다는 점에서 연구의 의의가 있다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 진로집단상담프로그램이 여대생의 진로태도성숙도와 진로준비행동에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 검증하고자 하였다. 본 연구결과 진로집단상담프로그램은 여대생의 진로태도성숙도의 하위 영역 가운데 결정성, 준비성 영역에서는 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였으나, 현실성 영역에서는 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 또한 진로집단상담프로그램이 여대생의 진로준비행동 하위 영역 가운데 탐색행동, 준비행동 영역에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 이와 같은 연구결과는 진로집단상담프로그램이 여대생의 진로태도성숙도와 진로준비행동에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것을 증명한 것이다. 앞으로 여대생들의 진로태도성숙도와 진로준비행동의 향상을 위해 더욱더 체계적인 진로집단상담프로그램에 대한 연구가 필요하며 실제로 활용도를 높여 가야 할 것이다.
