Background: This study aims to provide basic data for development of the level-based oral health care program depending on the mother's oral health literacy by finding out how mother's oral health literacy can effect on the preschool children's oral health and behavior. Methods: The survey was conducted on 192 mothers who have preschool children and the data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, multiple regression analysis to identify differences in verbal and functional oral health literacy. Results: The study showed statistical significance (p<0.05) in educational level depending on differences in verbal and functional oral health literacy by sociodemographic factor. In differences in verbal and functional literacy depending on experience of education for oral health behavior and oral health, statistical significance (p<0.05) was showed highly on verbal and functional literacy in the case that subjects have an experience of education for oral health and their children have not been experienced of oral illness. And when it comes to the case that subjects have experience of education for oral health within one to two years, statistical significance was showed highly on verbal literacy. It showed that verbal and functional oral health literacy effects to oral health care behavior of children judging from results that the higher level of mother's verbal oral health literacy, the higher score of children's oral health knowledge, attitude and behavior. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop the systematic program which is appropriate for characteristics of each oral period in childhood depending on level of primary caregiver's oral health literacy, and systematic education should be preceded to enhance the literacy of the caregiver. It is considered necessary to improve the oral health care of children by developing a manual for oral health care education to enhance primary caregiver's oral health literacy.

Purpose : This study analysis of nursing interventions and core nursing interventions performed orthopedic surgery care unit. Method : The data were collected from 55 nurses of 4 general hospital from July. 10, 2002 to Aug. 30, 2002. The instrument for this study was the Korean translation of 486 nursing intervention classifications developed by McColskey & Bulechek in 2000. In the 486 nursing interventions 350 nursing interventions were selected 8 among the 10 more than 5 years working group in orthopedic surgery care unit. Self frequency checking performed by 350 nursing interventions were used secondary questionnaire In the orthopedic surgery care unit nurses. Results : 1. The most frequently used nursing interventions domains were "Physiological : basic" and then "Physiological: complex", "Health system" "Behavior", "Family", "Safety". 2. Orthopedic surgery care unit core nursing interventions were performed several times a day by 50% or more of orthopedic surgery care unit and this result were 4 of domain, 11 of class, 26 core nursing interventions. This core nursing interventions were 5 of "Physiological : basic", 17 of "Physiological: complex", 1 of "Safety", 3 of "Health system" and have no "Behavior", "Family". Conclusion : This study analyzed nursing intervention of orthopedics and reestablished nursing intervention concept and I hope this study will be helpful for the nurse to be a professional by applying this to actual clinic, for development in qualified nursing and for establishment nursing information system.
The self-efficacy as the mediating variable to connect knowledge to behavior was Identified as the most powerful predictor that determines behavior. The purpose of this study was, first, to develop the slides /tape program based on the self-efficacy theory of Bandura(1977) second, to investigate that the Slides /Tape program would increase self-efficacy and self-care in patients with hypertension. The subjects for this study were 54 hypertensive outpatients and data collection was carried out from January 9, 1995 until March 18, 1995. The design of this study was one-group pretest and posttest design and the results are as follows 1) The slides /tape program was developed to based on performance accomplishment and vicarious experience which are induction modes of efficacy expectation. It composed of 80 slides and 20 minutes long tape. 2) The effectiveness of the slides /tape program “The self-efficacy score after giving the slides /tape program will be higher than one before giving the slides /tape program.” was supported (t=3.67, p=0.001). “The self-care score after giving the slides /tape program will be higher than one before giving the slides /tape program.” was supported(t=5.23. 000), 3) A significant difference was found between the self-care and sex. Also, the significant difference was found between the self-care and job. From these results, the slides /tape program is effective to increase the hypertensive patients' self-care.
Purpose: This study was to classify elderly in long-term care hospitals for using Resource Utilization Group(RUG-III) and to consider feasibility of payment method based on RUG-III classification system in Korea. Method: This study designed by measuring resident characteristics using the Resident Assessment Instrument-Minimum Data Set(RAI-MDS) and staff time. The data were collected from 382 elderly over sixty-year old, inpatient in the five long-term care hospitals. Staff time was converted into standard time based on the average wage of nurse and aids. Result: The subjects were classified into 4 groups. The group of Clinically Complex was the largest(46.3%), Reduced Physical Function(27.2%), Behavior Problem(17.0%), and Impaired Cognition(9.4%). The average resource use for one resident in terms of care time(nurses, aids) was 183.7 minutes a day. Relative resource use was expressed as a case mix index(CMI) calculated as a proportion of mean resource use. The CMI of Clinically Complex group was the largest(1.10), and then Reduced Physical Function(0.93), Behavior Problem(0.93), and Impaired Cognition(0.83) followed. The difference of the resource use showed statistical significance between major groups(p<0.0001). Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the RUG-III classification system differentiates resources provided to elderly in long-term care hospitals in Korea.
This study was conducted to identify the effects of the comprehensive nursing aided self-help program for hypertensives. The program educates hypertensives in community areas about blood pressure, self-care, health promoting behaviors, and life satisfaction. For this purpose a one group time series design was used. Sixteen subjects were evaluated from S Community Health center of B city. Self-help programs developed by the author were given to the subjects. The program consisted of group education on hypertension and self-care including blood pressure self-monitoring, recording of self-care activities, and encouraging and reinforcing self-help. The whole program was carried out from October to December in 2002. Data was analyzed by repeated measure ANOVA, and post-hoc Turkey. The results were as follows: There were significant relationships between changes in systolic pressure(F=10.638. P=.000), diastolic pressure(F=6.783. p=.013), self-care(F=13.506. p=.000), and health promoting behavior(F=9.067. p=.001) at the 6th week and the 9th week. There were no significant relationships between changes in life satisfaction at the 6th week or 9th week. From these results, it can be concluded that the self-help program is an effective nursing strategy to promote self-care of hypertensives in community areas.
The purpose of this study was not only to identify the level of health literacy, self-management knowledge and self-care behavior, but also to identify the relations those variables in elders with hemodialysis. The subjects of this study are 193 patients from dialysis clinics of nine hospitals in Incheon who aging over 60 years old. Data collection was conducted by using Health Literacy Scale, Self-Management Knowledge Scale, and Self-Care Behavior Scale. The data were analysed by descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient using SPSS statistics 23.0 program. In the results, average score of subjects' health literacy, self-management knowledge and self-care behavior were 13.66(±2.09), 13.33(±1.85) and 63.95(±10.32), respectively. There were significant positive correlation between self-management knowledge and health literacy (r=0.37, p<.001) and reading comprehension part which is subscale in health literacy (r=.25, p=.001). Also, there was significant positive correlation between self-management knowledge and self-care behavior (r=0.15, p<.05). According to the above results, for improving the self-care behaviors in elders with hemodialysis, it is necessary to provide tailored education based on his/her level of health literacy.
Recently diseases related to personal health habit and lifestyle have become common in modern industrial society. These kinds of diseases can be prevented simply by changing one's lifestyle to be more healthy. As a result of realization our interest in general health has become stronger. The most basic environment for human-being in society is the home. Humans secure their livelihood, physically. mentally, and socially at home. Therefore health care at home is very important. In modern society the responsibility for this task is traditionally given to housewives. The purpose of this study was to measure the degree of the health knowledge, health concern, health behavior and family health care of the married women and to analyze its related factors. The subjects for this study. 1,100 married women who studied at social education institutes and who had children attending an elementary school or a kindergarten, were surveyed with questionnaires. The preliminary survey was carried out from Aug. 7, to Aug. 19, 1995. With complement of questions, the main survey was carried out from Sep. 11, to Sep. 30, 1995. The data was analysed by using the SAS program. The results were as follows. 1. General Characteristics (1) In the individual characteristics of the respondents, the married women aged 30-39 were 54.8%, the average age was 39.8 years old. 33.8% of respondents had 6-10 years of marriage period, and the average marriage period was 14.9 years. Most of them(96.5%) lived with their husband. Those who graduated from college and graduate school were 53.4%. And 68.3% of respondents had no job. (2) In the family characteristics, 69.3% of the married women had 3 or 4 family members and the average family size was 4.1 person. 60.0% of the respondents had 2 children. Most of the respondents(90.9%) had no married children. 84.8% of the respondents lived with their parents. Those who reported that the total family income was more than 2,500,000 won a month were 32.3%. When making the decisions, 68.5% of the married women discussed the family matter with their husband. (3) In the individual characteristics of the respondents, 51.5% answered they were in good health. 61.7% of the married women answered they obtained the health knowledge through mass media. 24.3% of the women answered they had patients in their family in these days. 67.5% of the respondents answered they could generally control their health by themselves. 2. The Health Knowledge, Concern and Behavior. (1) For the health knowledge, the average score was 11.8. The lowest percent of correct answer(27.8%) was in the item about the skin tests for tuberculosis. And the highest percent(97.%) was in the item about taking a rest. (2) For the health concern, the married women had the highest concern about washing hands. But they were indifferent to smoking. (3) For the health behavior, the highest score was in "changing socks and underwear everyday", and the lowest one was in "taking a regular dental examination". 3. The Family Health Care (1) For the family health care, the item of "using a drug with the order of doctor or pharmacist" had the highest grade(4.78), and "consulting with the family physician about the health problem" had the lowest grade(2.03). (2) Older women and the women with a longer period of marriage had the highest level of the family health care(p<0.001). The married women who had 3 children had the highest level of the family health care(p<0.001). Those who had 5 or 6 family member and higher income had the highest level had the high level of the family health care(p<0.01). Women in good health and those who had the health knowledge from health experts had a high level of the family health care. (3) For the correlation of the family health care and other variables, the health behavior showed the highest correlation with family heath care practice(r=0.74) and the second was health concern(r=0.43). The variables which could explain the family health care were health behavior, the health concern and married women's health status(r²=55.87). The most closely associated with family health care was health behavior(r²=54.93)
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore characteristics of eating behavior according to level of functional status of elders with dementia (EWD), and to examine feeding time, change in food intake and body mass index (BMI) according to eating behavior. Methods: Participants were 149 EWD residing in long-term care facilities located in Seoul or Gyeonggi province and evaluated using the Mini-Mental State Exam-Korean version, Korean version-Activities of Daily Living, and Eating Behavior Scale (EBS). Feeding time, change in food intake, and BMI were also measured. Data were analyzed using SPSS 17.0, specifically descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and Chi-square test. Results: Participants' mean EBS score was $10.43{\pm}6.01$ and half of them (54.4%) needed moderate or total assistance while eating. The EBS score was significantly lower for elders with severe dementia compared to those with mild or moderate dementia; and elders with severe ADL dependence compared to those with mild or moderate ADL dependence. Lower EBS scores were related to longer feeding time, a greater the rate of participants with decreased food intake and 'underweight' BMI. Conclusion: Nursing intervention programs which are designed for EWD are needed to maintain functional eating skills and prevent negative consequences in this population.
Purpose: This research intended to explore a causal relationship among empowerment, job satisfaction, organizational citizen behavior, and customer orientation of employees working at the elderly care hospital, and we intended to explore mediating role of job satisfaction and organizational citizen behavior(OCB) and moderating role in the relationship of them. Methods: A survey tool was questionnaire that had obtained validity and reliability through literature survey and pretest survey, and sample 388 was analyzed through SEM using SPSS21.0 and AMOS21.0. Results: All theoretical relationships on research model were turned out except one between empowerment and customer orientation. Job satisfaction and organizational citizen behavior play an important mediating role in the research model. LMX plays a moderating role in the research model. Conclusion: In order to delegate the duties of the elderly nursing facility and to manage and operate the efficient human resources, the quality of the LMX should be raised so that the empowerment, job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior of the employees ultimately strengthen the customer orientation of them.

Purpose: This study was aimed at evaluating the effects of Music Therapy for the autistic children. Method: The subjects of this study consisted of 3 autistic children who were trained in an Attachment Promotion Therapy Program for 6 months. The Children were all males and 4years 9months, 3years 1 month, and 3years 8month each, and diagnosed with Autism by Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists. Data was collected by using video-taping methods(ADOS, Fagot's Interactive Behavior Code), an interview and observational methods(SMS). Music Therapy intervention was done once a week for 6 months. Data was gathered by quantitative and qualitative analysis. Result: This study showed that the Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale and Social Maturity Quotient(SQ) much improved after the Music Therapy After the Music Therapy, the Interactive Behavior Code : Gaze, Gesture for the communication, Verbal language, Laughing/Smile, and Normal play behaviors increased more than before the intervention. As the results show, the child's behavior became more positively responsive, playful, and attentive to others. Conclusion: This study suggests that Music Therapy might be an effective intervention for autistic disorder children in order to decrease autistic symptoms and increase joint attention behavior.
