Selective Extraction of Phospholipids from Soybeans with Mixture of Supercritical Carbondioxide and Ethanol (초임계 $CO_2$와 에탄올 혼합물에 의한 대두인지질의 선택적 추출)

  • Supercritical carbondioxide is very effective in removing oils from a variety of seed matrices, devoid of any appreciable amount of phospholipid content. However, the limited solubility of phosphalipids in supercritical carbondioxide leaves behind a potentially valuable by-product in spent seed matrix. Any phospholipid extraction process from the spent matrix must maintain the structure and the quality of phospholipids and must be compatible with the end use of the seed protein meal an animal feed or for human consumption. An initial supercritical carbondioxide extraction of soybean flakes was performed at 32 MPa and $80^{\circ}C$ to extract the oils, leaving the phospholipids in the deflatted soybean flakes, A second step was performed on the defatted soybean flake using $X_{eth}$=0.10, Varying the pressure from 175 MPa to 70.6 MPa and temperature from $60^{\circ}C$ to $80^{\circ}C$. For all supercritical carbon dioxide/ethanol mixture extractions, a fraction rich in phospholipids was obtained. The fractions extracted from defatted soybean flakes were dried and them redissolved in chloroform before HPLC-ELSD analysis. Quantitative and qualitative analysis of phospholipids on soybean seeds, defatted soybean flake, and different extracted phospholipid fractions was carried out, to ascertain the effect of extraction pressure and temperature.

  • Nowdays the most critical problem is global warming and the most important reason is the high emition of carbondioxide. 23% of the use of carbondioxide is used in building and decreasing the use of it is very important. One of the biggest factor that can decrease the use of energy is developing the heat conducting ratio of the materials we use in building. Heat conducting ratio is the important factor in the use of reducing energy comsumation. In this research, there are methods about how to measure the heat conducting ratio, and the existing the representing measuring method which is Heat Flow Meter HFM 436, Laser Flash Analysis and find out about the TCi of the new method C-Therm and compare the results.

  • Our lab designs a heat exchangers for air and carbondioxide gas. Coolant is water, thus it is very difficult to determine heat transfer parameters in this gas-liquid system. Repeated experiments gives overdesign value 35%, overall heat transfer coefficient $33.8(kcal/m2-hr-^{\circ}C)$ for carbondioxide. Another series of experiments determine overdesign 18.7%, overall heat transfer coefficient $21.4(kcal/m2-hr-^{\circ}C)$ for Air. These parameters are in same range of literature. Overdesign is increasing as tube length increases, also increases as wall thickness of heat exchanger increases. To get proper fluid linear velocity in heat exchanger, we change the diameter of tube and finally we can have optimum fluid linear velocity in the heat exchanger.

  • Carbondioxide($CO_2$) laser is one of the most widely employed lasers in oral soft tissue surgery because of its excellent affinity for water based soft tissues. It has some inherent advantages such as hemostasis, less postoperative swelling, reduction of bacterial population at surgical site, less need for suturing, less scarring, and less postoperative pain compared to conventional surgical therapies including the use of scalpel, diathermy, cryotherapy and electrosurgery. A 30-years-old male was presented with gingival swelling. Clinical examination revealed a well?defined pedunculated fibrotic mass on the buccal gingiva near right maxillary 1st molar. In radiographic examination, no remarkable abnormality was seen. Excisional biopsy was performed with $CO_2$ laser (continuous wave mode, 4.0W). Histological diagnosis was "Irritation fibroma". $CO_2$ laser has advantages those are suitable for surgical treatment of intraoral lesion. If appropriate training and experience are provided, the dentist would be able to manage intraoral lesions more efficiently and successfully with the use of the $CO_2$ laser.

  • Hairy tongue is a disease caused by hypertrophy of filiform papillae on the tongue dorsum. Clinically, it occurs on the posterior 1/3 of the tongue dorsum and is rarely observed on the lateral and tip of the tongue. Several types of colored pigmentation from white to brown and black appear depending on the ingested food and the existing pigmentation inducing bacteria. Although clinically asymptomatic, patients will visit the clinic for esthetic problems and at rare intervals experience nausea, halitosis, dysgeusia and unpleasant sensation. The exact etiology is yet not known but causes such as inappropriate oral hygiene control, a shift in oral bacterium, infection, radiotherapy, use of antibacterial drugs or immunosuppressants, excessive smoking or alcohol drinking and decrease of salivary flow rate may be a factor of the disease. Clinical symptoms are quite typical and diagnosis may be made simply by observation, not necessarily biopsy. Treatment of hairy tongue is done by eliminating the etiology factors, brushing the tongue gently with a tongue cleaner and in some cases using keratolytic agent. Although it is rare to treat hairy tongue surgically, we will introduce a case successfully treated using carbondioxide laser($CO_2$ laser), after no sufficient improvement had been made by conservative treatment.

Applicability analysis of carbondioxide conversion capture materials produced by desulfurization gypsum for cement admixture (시멘트 혼합재로서 정유사 탈황석고를 활용하여 제조한 탄산화물의 적용성 분석)

  • In this study, microstructure and basic property analysis of DG (Desulfurization gypsum) and CCMs (Carbondioxide conversion capture materials) made by reacting CO2 with DG were conducted to analyze applicability as a cement admixture. The main crystalline phases of DG were CaO and CaSO4, and CCMs were CaSO4, CaCO3, Ca(OH)2 and CaSO4·H2O. As a result of particle size analysis, the difference in average particle sizes between the two materials was about 7 ㎛. No major heavy metals were detected in the CCMs, and as a result o f TGA, the CO2 decomposition of CCMs was more than twice as high as that of DG. Therefore, it was judged that CCMs could be used as a cement admixture through optimization of manufacturing conditions. As a results of measuring the strength behavior of DG and CCMs mixture ratios, the long-term strength of CCMs-mixed mortar was higher, and this is due to the filler effect of CaCO3 in CCMs.

Physico-chemical Properties of leaf tobacco by expansion processes. (잎담배의 팽화방법에 따른 팽화율 및 내용성분 특성)

  • Flue-cured tobaccos(cv. NC82, grade AB3O-1) expanded by super steam, volatile organic solvents(tricuorofluoromethane, propane), carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and by freeze-drying were examined for their physico-chemical properties. The expanding rate by using the organic solvents or carbon dioxide at the impregnated pressure was 70% or more, whereas the rate by super steam and freeze-drying was 49.4 and 42.9%, respectively. The contents of total sugar, alkaloid and ether extracts of the expanded tobacco by organic solvents or carbondioxide were decreased to 27.6, 20% or more, and 13%, respectively, when compared to non-expanded one. The contents of citric acid of the tobacco expanded by using trichlorofluoromethane and carbon dioxide were increased to 19.1, 14.0%, respectively. Linoleic acid in the tobacco expanded by super steam or trichlorofluoromethane was also increased to 17.3%, but malonic acid in the tobacco expanded by super steam was 18.5% less than that in the non-expanded one. Nineteen essential oil among 22 assayed in this experiment were decreased in the expanded tobaccos. Key words : expanding method, tobacco, physico-chemical properties.

  • The effects of cobalt chloride, methionine, and various carbon sources on the sisomicin production by M. inyoensis NRRL 3292 were investigated. It was found that both cobalt chloride and methionine exerted a greater stimulatory effect on sisomicin formation. Kinetic studies with various carbon sources revealed thai polysaccharide such as starch or dextrin was found io be better than glucose for sisomicin production Moreover, the relatively low concentration of dissolved carbon dioxide was one of the most important factors In accelerating sisomicin production during idiophase.

  • Water mist fire suppression experiment is carried out for a personal computer fire. F Fire spread is observed and analyzed by measured temperatures without the injection of t the water mist. The extinguishment test shows that oxygen concentration increases r rapidly upon the water mist injection. Also $C0_2$ concentration decreases steeply due to t the injection because the water mist suppresses combustion reaction. Relative humidity g goes up very steeply by the injection.
