Simultaneous Detection of Tartrazine-Sunset Yellow in Food Samples Using Bioxide/Carbon Paste Microcomposite with Lanthanum and Titanium

  • This report describes the simultaneous detection of the two dyes most commonly used in food, tartrazine (TZ) and sunset yellow (SY), based on a microcomposite of carbon paste decorated with La2O3 and TiO2. Anodic currents for SY-TZ were observed at 0.89-1.21 V by cyclic voltammetry (CV) separated with a ΔV of 0.32 V. The increased anodic peak currents compared to that of the unmodified carbon paste electrode were almost 50 and 41% for SY-TZ, respectively. The detection limits with the optimal amount of La2O3-TiO2 were 0.02 and 0.03 µmol/L, respectively. The relative standard deviation (RSD) based on fifty measurements was less than 3%. The versatility and novelty of the sensor were tested with food samples containing these substances and other substances.

  • 금속산화물 $(TiO_2,\;RuO_2,\;PbO_2,\;Ni(OH)_2)$과 Prussian blue (PB)를 각각 탄소반죽에 혼합한 후 스크린 프린팅 기법으로 6종의 탄소반죽 전극들을 제작하였다. 제작된 탄소반죽 전극들로 전자혀 시스템을 제작하여 다양한 음료수와 식품에 대한 감응을 0.1M carbonate buffer, pH 9.6완충 용액에 묽힌 후 대시간전류법의 방법으로 측정하였다 얻어진 자료를 주성분 분석법 (principal component analysis; PCA)으로 처리한 후 식음료의 맛을 평가할 수 있도록 2차원 좌표계에 표시하였으며, 그 결과 본 실험에서 제작한 시스템 및 분석법은 다양한 식음료의 종류를 뚜렷이 구분해 낼 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Effect of Carbon Fiber Layer on Electrochemical Properties of Activated Carbon Electrode

  • This study investigates the effects of a carbon fiber layer formed on the surface of an etched aluminum current collector on the electrochemical properties of the activated carbon electrodes for an electric double layer capacitor. A particle size analyzer, field-emission SEM, and nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherm analyzer are employed to analyze the structure of the carbon fiber layer. The electric and electrochemical properties of the activated carbon electrodes using a carbon fiber layer are evaluated using an electrode resistance meter and a charge-discharge tester, respectively. To uniformly coat the surface with carbon fiber, we applied a planetary mill process, adjusted the particle size, and prepared the carbon paste by dispersing in a binder. Subsequently, the carbon paste was coated on the surface of the etched aluminum current collector to form the carbon under layer, after which an activated carbon slurry was coated to form the electrodes. Based on the results, the interface resistance of the EDLC cell made of the current collector with the carbon fiber layer was reduced compared to the cell using the pristine current collector. The interfacial resistance decreased from 0.0143 Ω·cm2 to a maximum of 0.0077 Ω·cm2. And degradation reactions of the activated carbon electrodes are suppressed in the 3.3 V floating test. We infer that it is because the improved electric network of the carbon fiber layer coated on the current collector surface enhanced the electron collection and interfacial diffusion while protecting the surface of the cathode etched aluminum; thereby suppressing the formation of Al-F compounds.

Clinical In Vivo Bio Assay of Glucose in Human Skin by a Tattoo Film Carbon Nano Tube Sensor

  • In vivo assay of glucose detection was described using a skin tattoo film electrode (STF), and the probe was made from carbon nano tube paste modification film paper. Here in the square-wave stripping anodic working range obtained of $20-100mgL^{-1}$ within an accumulation time of 0 seconds only in sea water electrolyte solutions of pH 7.0. The relative standard deviations of 50 mg glucose that were observed of 0.14 % (n=12), respectively, using optimum stripping accumulation of 30 sec, the low detection limit (S/N) was pegged at 15.8 mg/L. The developed results can be applied to the detect of in vivo skin sensing in real time. Which confirms the results are usable for in vitro or vivo diagnostic clinical analysis.

Properties of Carbon Pastes Prepared with Mixing Ratios of Nano Carbon and Graphite Flakes

  • To produce carbon electrodes for use in perovskite solar cells, electrode samples are prepared by mixing various weight ratios of 35 nm nano carbon(NC) and $1{\mu}m$ graphite flakes(GF), GF/(NC+GF) = 0, 0.5, 0.7, and 1, in chlorobenzene(CB) solvent with a $ZrO_2$ binder. The carbon electrodes are fabricated as glass/FTO/carbon electrode devices for microstructure characterization using transmission electron microscopy, optical microscopy, and a field emission scanning electron microscopy. The electrical characterization is performed with a four-point probe and a multi tester. The microstructure characterization shows that an electrode with excellent attachment to the substrate and no surface cracks at weight ratios above 0.5. The electrical characterization results show that the sheet resistance is <$70{\Omega}/sq$ and the interface resistance is <$70{\Omega}$ at weight ratios of 0.5 and 0.7. Therefore, a carbon paste electrode with microstructure and electrical properties similar to those of commercial carbon electrodes is proposed with an appropriate mixing ratio of NC and GF containing a CB solvent and $ZrO_2$.

  • EPDM을 결합재로 사용하고, HRP를 고정시켜 과산화수소 정량을 위한 탄소반죽전극을 제작하고, 바이오센서로서 실용화 가능성을 살펴보기 위하여 전기화학적 특성을 고찰하였다. 실험 농도 영역에서 신호의 Lineweaver-Burk 도시가 보여준 좋은 직선성은 촉매력이 효과적으로 발휘될 수 있도록 EPDM이 전극 물질 속에서 HRP를 잘 고정하고 있음을 보여 주었으며, 이는 EPDM이 전극물질 결합재로 활용될 수 있음을 말하는 것이다. 전극은 낮은 전극전위($0.0\sim-1.0$ V vs. Ag/AgCl)에서 작동하였으며, 이 때 얻어진 신호는 높은 감도와 재현성을 보여 주었다. 특히 건조된 고무의 기계적 안정성은 탄소반죽 전극 실용화의 난제였던 실리콘 오일 결합재의 대체가능성을 열어주었다.

  • 스크린 프린팅 기술을 이용하여 일회용 에탄올 센서를 개발하고 전기화학적 방법으로 그 성능을 조사하였다. 일회용 에탄올 센서는 폴리에스테르 기질 위에 탄소와 은 반죽 그리고 절연체 잉크로 작업 및 기준전극의 감응부위와 전기적 접촉부위의 형상을 차례로 인쇄한 후 알코올탈수소효소(ADH) 또는 알코올산화효소(AOD)를 알려진 전자전달 매개체(mediator)와 함께 작업전극에 고정시켜 제작하였다. 일회용 센서의 제작 과정에서 감응도와 재현성을 높이기 위하여 프린팅한 탄소 작업전극을 전처리 하는 몇 가지 방법들을 적용하고 그 결과들을 비교하였다. 제작된 일회용 센서는 소량의 혈액시료로 음주측정을 하는데, 그리고 발효공정 제어 등에 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.

Electrochemical Behaviors of Hydroquinone on a Carbon Paste Electrode with Ionic Liquid as Binder

  • In this paper the electrochemical behaviors of hydroquinone ($H_2Q$) were investigated on a carbon paste electrode using room temperature ionic liquid N-butylpyridinium hexafluorophosphate ($BPPF_6$) as binder (ILCPE) and further applied to $H_2Q$ determination. In pH 2.5 phosphate buffer solution (PBS), the electrochemical response of H2Q was greatly improved on the IL-CPE with a pair of well-defined quasi-reversible redox peaks appeared, which was attributed to the electrocatalytic activity of IL-CPE to the $H_2Q$. The redox peak potentials were located at 0.340 V (Epa) and 0.240 V (Epc) (vs. the saturated calomel electrode, SCE), respectively. The formal potential ($E^0$') was calculated as 0.290 V and the peak-to-peak separation (${\Delta}E_p$) was 0.100 V. The electrochemical parameters of $H_2Q$ on the IL-CPE were further calculated by cyclic voltammetry. Under the selected conditions the anodic peak current was linear with $H_2Q$ concentration over the range from $5.0\;{{\times}}\;10^{-6}$ to $5.0\;{\times}\;10^{-3}\;mol\;L^{-1}$ with the detection limit as $2.5\;{\times}\;10^{-6}\;mol\;L^{-1}$ (3$\sigma$ ) by cyclic voltammetry. The proposed method was successful applied to determination of $H_2Q$ content in a synthetic wastewater sample without the interferences of commonly coexisting substances.

활성탄소 전극의 제조공정에 따른 EDLC의 전기화학적 특성 (Electrochemical Characteristics of EDLC Fabricated by Different Preparation Processes of Activated Carbon Electrode)

  • EDLC(electric double layer capacitor)용 활성탄소전극의 제조공정을 dip coating method, doctor blade coating method, paste rolling method로 달리하여 전기화학적 특성과 비축전 용량을 조사하였다. Dip coating method에 의한 전극제조시 전해질염으로 LiPF6를 이용하고 유기용매로 PC-DEC를 이용한 EDLC의 비축전 용량이 130F/g으로 가장 우수하였고, 선형의 시간전압곡선에서의 IR-drop도 0.11V로 작았으며 CV(cyclic voltammetry) 분석 또한 이상적인 EDLC의 특성을 나타내었다.
