Vacuum brazing is the most modern brazing process and is at present, far from being completely understood. By brazing under high vacuum, in an atmosphere free of oxidizing gases, a superior product with greater strength, ductility and uniformity can be obtained. In this study, the influence of brazing parameters such as base metal characteristics, joint clearance and brazing time were described in relation to the metallurgical phenomena and shear strength of vacuum-brazed joints between carbon steels and 304 stainless steel (SUS 304) brazed by copper filler metal. In copper brazing of SUS 304 to a medium carbon steel(M.C.S) the columnar Fe-Cr-Ni-Cu-C alloy structure was formed and grew from the M.C.S side and at the same time, the surface of M.C.S. was decarbonized. The driving force for the formation and growth of columnar structure was the difference of carbon content between base metals. As the joint clearance is narrower and brazing time is longer, the formation and growth of columnar phase and decarburization of carbon steels were more noticeable. Because of decarburization of carbon steels, the shear strength of brazed joints were reduced as the formation of columnar structure was increased.
Order of reaction, rate constant, activation energy for vulcanization reaction, crosslinking density, and elastic constant of the network produced by sulfur curing were investigated on the SBR/BR blends containing silica and carbon black under same cure system. The reaction order was shown to be first order regardless of filler types. The carbon black filled rubber compounds showed higher rate constant compared to silica filled compounds. But activation energy appeared to be same regardless of filler type and rubber blend ratio. The crosslinking density and elastic constant is higher in the carbon black filled compound compared to silica filled compounds because of strong interaction between rubber and carbon black. On the other hand, crosslinking density and elastic constant were decreased with increasing the butadine rubber content in rubber blends. From the comparison of combined sulfur content in the vulcanized rubber, sulfur content in the silica filled compound become constant 20min later after reaction initiates but sulfur content in the carbon black filled compound become constant 10min later after reaction starts. The silica compound has a longer induction time ($t_2$) and optimum cure time($t_{90}$) compared to those of the carbon black filled compound.
The purpose of this experiments were investigated on the physical properties of rubber com-pounds containing two types carbon black. Bound rubber and interaction coefficient for com-pounds with pure carbon black were higher than those for the compounds with dual phase carbon black. Slightly higher values in 300% modulus and tensile strength indicated that the ratio of rubber-filler bound to rubber-rubber bound of pure carbon black were higher than those of com-pounds with dual phase carbon black. It was founded that dynamic properties, that is rebound, heat build-up, 0 & $60^{\circ}C$ tan $\delta$, and cut and chip loss of compounds with dual phase carbon black were better than those of compounds with pure carbon black, but abrasion property of dual phase carbon black was lower than those of pure carbon black because of low reinforcing ability.
The effect of Chitosan (CS), Carbon Nanotube (CNT) and hybrid (CS-CNT) fillers on the natural frequency of drilled composite plate is investigated by experimentally in this study. The numerical validation is also made with a program based on Finite Element Method (SolidWorks). Nine types filled and one neat composite plates are used in the study. The fillers ratios are 1% CS, 2% CS, 3% CS, 0.1% CNT, 0.2% CNT, 0.3% CNT, 1% CS+0.3% CNT, 2% CS+0.3% CNT, 3% CS+0.3% CNT. The specimens cut to certain sizes by water jet from the plates 400 mm × 400 mm in dimensions. Some of them are drilled in certain dimensions with drill. The natural frequency of each specimen is measured by the vibration test set up to determine the vibration characteristic. The vibration test set up includes an accelerometer, a current source power unit, a data acquisition card and a computer. A code is written in Matlab® program for the signal processing. The study are investigated and discussed in four main points to understand the effect of the fillers on the natural frequency of the composite plate. These are the effect of fillers contents and amounts, orientation angles of fibers, holes numbers and holes sizes. As results, the natural frequency of the plate with 1% CS and 0.1% CNT hybrid filler is lower than those of the plates with other fillers ratios for 45° orientation angle. Besides, in the composite plate with 0° orientation angle, the natural frequency increases with increasing the filler ratio. Moreover, the natural frequency increases until a certain hole number and then it decreases. Furthermore, the natural frequency is not affected until a certain hole diameter but then it decreases.

By using shear mixing and ultrasonication, we fabricated specimens of well-dispersed multi-walled carbon nanotube composites. To confirm the proper dispersion of the filler, we used scanning electron microscopy images for quantitative evaluation and a tensile test for qualitative assessment. Furthermore, the coefficients of thermal expansion of several specimens having different filler contents were calculated from the measured thermal strains and temperatures of the specimens. Based on the microscopy images of the well-dispersed fillers and the small deviations in the measurements of the tensile strength and stiffness, we confirmed the proper dispersion of nanotubes in the epoxy. As the filler contents were increased, the values of tensile strength increased from 58.33 to 68.81 MPa, and those of stiffness increased from 2.93 to 3.27 GPa. At the same time, the coefficients of thermal expansion decreased. This implies better thermal stability of the specimen.
Over the past decade, liquid crystalline epoxy (LCER) has attracted much attention as a promising matrix for the development of efficient heat dissipation materials. This study presents a comprehensive study including synthesis, preparation and chacterization of polymer/inorganic composites using typical 4,4-diglycidyloxybiphenyl (DP) epoxy among LECR. To confirm the thermal conductivity of composite materials, we have prepared composite samples composed of epoxy resin and single-wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) as a filler. In particular, DP composites exhibit higher thermal conductivity than commercial epoxy composites that use the same type of filler due to the highly ordered microstructure of the LCER. In addition, the thermal conductivity of the DP composite can be controlled by controlling the amount of filler. In particular, the DP composite containing a SWCNT content of 50 wt% has the highest thermal conductivity of 2.008 W/mK.
Carbon-ceramic composites were fabricated by using fly ash and PANOX fibers as reinforcement. Fly ash, because of its small size particles e.g. submicron to micron level can be effectively dispersed along with fibrous reinforcements. Phenolic resin was used as carbon precursor. Both dry as well as wet methods were used for forming composites. The resulting composites were characterized for their microstructure, thermal and mechanical properties. The microstructure and mechanical properties of composites are found to be dependent on type of the fly ash, fibrous reinforcements as well as processing parameters. The addition of fly ash improves hardness and the fibers, which get co-carbonized on heat treatment, increase the flexural strength of the carbon-ceramic composites. Composites with dual reinforcement exhibit about 30-40% higher strength as compared to the composites made with single reinforcement, either with fly ash as filler or with chopped fibers.
This study has conducted greenhouse gas emission reduction test as using Oyster-shells originated PCC paper filler compare to non-Oyster shells used PCC. This examination was estimated and calculated in accordance with both IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) and World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBSCD). The greenhouse gas emission reduction estimation result indicates that, when oyster shells are recycled and used as paper filler, it reduces $27.97tCO_2\;per\;100\;ton$ of oyster shells. It is greenhouse gas emission $44.27tCO_2$ from PCC production changed to carbon emission reduction when replaced with oyster shell. LNG greenhouse gas emission $16.3tCO_2$ in relation to the pre-treatment with oyster shell per 100 ton is also reflected. As a result, it is assumed that roughly $0.2797tCO_2/oyster\;shell{\cdot}ton$.
Difference in recovery behaviors from the circular deformation of natural rubber (NR) composites aged in air and distilled water, respectively were investigated. Recoveries of the samples aged in air were larger than those of the samples aged in distilled water. Recovery rates of the samples reinforced with filler were faster than those of the unreinforced ones. Recovery rates of the carbon black-filled samples were faster than those of the silica-filled ones. Difference in the recovery behaviors according to the aging media can be explained by the crosslinking density changes and the annealing effect.
Silica which is used for reinforcing filler in tire industry is widely known as eco-friendly material exerting $CO_2$ reduction effect through decrease of rolling resistance and improvement of wet grip. Generally silica is classified as a highly polar filler because it contains a large number of silanol (Si-OH) group on its surface. And also silica gives a lower reinforcing effect than carbon black due to its poorer rubber-filler interaction. Therefore silica is treated with silane coupling agent or activator, then following the conventional rubber blend method, vulcanized sheets were prepared using a hot press, and cure characteristics, mechanical properties and abrasion resistance of the test specimens were investigated. It was found that with an increase in the silane coupling agent content the tensile strength, 300% modulus and abrasion resistance increased while Mooney viscosity decreased and crosslink density slightly increased with an increase of activator.
