  • Vibrations on the floor in a car are transmitted to the foot, hip, and back from the seat. Human body recognizes these vibrations, but the sensitivity for each vibration is different. To evaluate these vibrations, RMS(root mean square) of accelerations, VDV(vibration does value) are commonly used. The ride comfort evaluation is usually carried out by experiments of real cars which are expensive. The purpose of this paper is to briefly review the status of several ride vibration standards and criteria having relevance to construction machinery vehicles and to suggest recommendations for the effective use of such criteria in vehicle / component development.

  • The major subject of this paper is to develop the concept fur a Korea high speed train system and recommend to train configuration. High speed train configurations are basically concerned traction power(train configurations with concentrated; CPT or distributed Power system: DPT) and train design(single car as compared with articulated bogies). The result of configuration, a advantages and disadvantaged were necessitated by different train configurations; -distributed underfloor power have an increased length for the seats by 15% as compared with the concentrated power trait - articulated trainsets are characterised by less of number of bogies and reduced values of mass, train resistance, noise and vibration. from the result, the optimized train concept combining high seat capacity per train length with low weight and train resistance is 400m long, single -floor train composed of two symmetrically arranged half trainsets. Therefore, at this work recommended distributed train system However, the final decision of Korea high speed train configuration was concentrated power train and articulated bogie system. The configuration of trainset was 20cars included 2 power cars, 4 motorized cars and 14 trailer cars.

  • The design of driver's cab includes the structure of cab frame, the layout of driver's cab equipment and facilities, i.e. driver's desk, seat, windows, floor, interior equipment, cab partition etc. The concept applied to the detail design has to be based on the ergonomics to guarantee the safety, comfort, and easy operation for the driver. In the aspect of manufacture, one more factor 'modulization' has to be considered into the design of sub blocks for cost-down. The design has to be implemented in the space allocated for driver's cab, which space is directly determined by the cab frame, optimized for the layout of driver's cab. The design process and results of the driver's cab for KHST will be described in this paper.

  • Cool-down performance after soaking is important because it affects passenger's thermal comfort. The cooling capacity of HVAC system determines initial cool down performance in most cases, the performance is also affected by location, and shape of panel vent, indoor seat arrangement. Therefore, optimal indoor designs are required in developing a new car. In this paper, initial cool down performance is predicted by CFD(computational fluid dynamics) analysis. Experimental time-averaging temperature data are used as inlet boundary condition. For more reliable analysis, real vehicle model and human FE model are used in grid generation procedure. Thermal and aerodynamic characteristics on re-circulation cool vent mode are investigated using CFX 12.0. Thermal comfort represented by PMV(predicted mean vote) is evaluated using acquired numerical data. Temperature and velocity fields show that flow in passenger's compartment after soaking is considerably unstable at the view point of thermodynamics. Volume-averaged temperature is decreased exponentially during overall cool down process. However, temperature monitored at different 16 spots in CFX-Solver shows local variation in head, chest, knee, foot. The cooling speed at the head and chest nearby panel vent are relatively faster than at the knee and foot. Horizontal temperature contour shows asymmetric distribution because of the location of exhaust vent. By evaluating the passenger's thermal comfort, slowest cooling region is found at the driver's seat.

  • The aim of this analysis was to investigate the relationship between the level of safety behavior and the level of oral health behavior among Korean children. Data used in this analysis were from the 2005 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES). A representative sample of 4,292 children aged from three to eleven years who completed both health interview and health behavior survey. Simple and multiple logistic regression analyses were conducted. All analyses were weighted and SAS 9.1 survey data analysis procedures were used to estimate standard errors accounting for the complex sampling design of the KNHANES. More than seventy percent of children did not keep general safety behaviors except seat on back seat in a car. About seventy five percent of children had experience of preventive oral care during last one year, but about fifty six percent of children brush their teeth twice a day. Socioeconomic status and health behaviors were significantly related in three to six old age group only (p<.05). Generally significant relationship was not found between general safety and oral health behaviors. Among Korean children, general safety and oral health behaviors might be not related each other. Education for general safety behaviors should be underlined for all children. Especially preschool-children with low socioeconomic status need to be educated for healthy behaviors.
