  • In this paper, a scheme to increase the throughput of RFID systems is presented, which considers the capture effect in the context of framed ALOHA protocol. Under the capture model in which the probability of one tag is identified successfully depending on the number of tags involved in the collision, two probabilistic methods for estimating the unknown number of tags are proposed. The first method is the maximum likelihood estimation method, and the second method is an approximate algorithm for reducing the computational time. The optimal frame size condition to maximize the system throughput by considering the capture effect is also presented.

  • It is necessary to control the frame memory to capture, edit and display images. This paper presents the free-scale image capture processor size of which is user-defined, compared to the conventional image capture processor size of which is fixed 1/2, 1/4 and full size. User-defined scale data is fed into this system, which generates the gating pulses and gates the inputted image data. This system also controls the 4M DRAM instead of frame meamory. And stored gated image data are displayed on the TV monitor. We designed the scalable image capture parts and DRAM controller with ACTEL FPGAs, simulated the circuits with Viewlogic and fusing ACTEL A1020B chips. We confirmed the whole operation with beadboard which composed of "Philips TV Chipset" and designed FPGA chips.PGA chips.

  • Energy calibration is important to identify accurate neutron capture resonance energy in the neutron TOF (Time-of-Flight) experiment. In present study, the accurate neutron capture resonance energies of natural Sm were measured by using a 46-MeV electron linear accelerator (linac) at the Research Reactor Institute, Kyoto University(KURRI). The BGO spectrometer were adopted for measurement the prompt capture gamma-ray of the sample. To obtain energy calibration curve, resonance energy of a gold sample used as standard resonance energy Mughabghab's data (From neutron resonance parameters data). Previous data (by Mughabghab) of natural Sm sample have been compared with the present result.

  • As Android platform and its applications are widely used, it is necessary to assure the reliability and safety of Android applications. The capture and replay technique is widely used for reproducing the crashes in Java applications. In this paper, we adapt the context-based capture and replay technique to Android applications by considering Android activity structure and its GUI characteristics. Our capture and replay technique uses probe code insertion based on AspectJ for minimizing the original code change and for enhancing the efficiency and reusability of the probe codes. For proving the efficiency of our technique, we provide a case study and execution overhead comparisons with related works, in which our approach has merits in GUI oriented Android applications with relatively low execution overhead.

  • A Monte Carlo computer simulation study was conducted to determine the most efficient sampling design for the blue crab dredge capture efficiency experiment performed in Chesapeake Bay, Maryland, U. S. A. The input values were the number of dredge tracks in each experimental area, the number of tows per experiment, the number of experiments, the mean density of crabs per unit area, the negative binomial coefficient, the gear capture efficiency, and the tow error. As a result of the study, a four-track experiment with twenty to twenty-eight tows was estimated to be the best in terms of precision and accuracy of the gear capture efficiency.

  • Motion capture systems allow to measure the precise position of markers on the human body in real time. These captured motion data, the marker position data, have to be fitted by a human skeleton model to represent the motion of the human. Typical human skeleton models approximate the joints using a ball joint model. However, because this model cannot represent the human skeleton precisely, errors between the motion data and the movements of the simplified human skeleton model happen. We propose in this paper a method for measuring a translation component of wrist, and elbow joints on upper limb using optical motion capture system. Then we study the errors between the ball joint model and acquired motion data. In addition, we discuss the problem to estimate motion of human joint using optical motion capture system.

  • For the purpose of managing non-point sources, water quality control basins (WQCBs) are often designed to capture rainfall events smaller than extreme events. The design rainfall statistics and runoff capture rates for sizing a WQCB should be derived from the local long-term continuous rainfall record. In this study, the 31-year continuous rainfall data recorded in Busan is analyzed to derive the synthesized runoff capture curve incorporated with SCS curve number.

  • This paper proposed a systematic analysis for slotted ALOHA with capture effect. This is a generalization for slotted ALOHA system. Based on this model, we can increase the maximum through-put of slotted ALOHA system with two power levels. Lee's algorithm is consider to be an extension of ALOHA system with capture effect. In this paper, we showed that, the choice of Lee's algorithm is not an optimum one. Based on the previous experimental results, we proposed here a more practical analysis for slotted ALOHA system. The result is very accurate and can be applied to other wireless systems which also employed capture effect.

  • This study suggests a technique to implement the production of animation by blending between key frame animation and motion capture animation through short animation 'Drip.' It reduced the time taken to produce an animation by not only enabling efficient process management through mutual organic connection but also conducting a process of mutually making up for weak points of key frame animation and motion capture animation. Through this, it was intended to be helpful in efficient animation production by overcoming the limitation of key frame animation and motion capture animation and perceiving and applying a complex process.
