More and all-electric aircraft (AEA) carry many loads with varied functions. In particular, there may be large pulsed loads with short duty ratios which can affect the normal operation of other loads. In this paper, a converter with spilt capacitors and an improved adaptive controller is used as the Voltage Bus Conditioner (VBC) with the reduced capacitive storage to mitigate the voltage transients on the bus. The proposed converter allows the smaller capacitive storage. Also, the proposed controller has the advantage of requiring only one sensor and performing both the functions of mitigating the voltage bus transients and maintaining the level of energy stored. Experimental results are presented which verify the control principles and demonstrate the practicality of the approach.
With the development of power electronics, many new energy storage systems such as the superconducting magnetic energy storage, the flywheel energy storage, and the capacitive energy storage, etc. are being intensively studied recently in order to replace battery in some special applications, Among these innovative energy storage systems, the flywheel system exhibits some unique features such as high power density, easy maintenance and longer lifetime. This paper introduces the novel flywheel energy storage system. Operation and features of the system are illustrated and verified on a 6kVA, 20kHz IPM based experimental circuit for O/A application. The Halbach Array Motor is selected of the design of the three phase motor/generator for the flywheel energy storage system.

This paper focuses on the electrical modeling techniques of renewable energy sources and storage devices such as batteries, fuel cells (FCs), photovoltaic (PVs) arrays, ultra-capacitors (UCs), and flywheel energy storage systems (FESS). All of these devices are being investigated recently for their typical storage and supply capabilities for various industrial applications. Hence, these devices must be modeled precisely taking into account the concerned practical issues. An obvious advantage of electrically modeling these renewable energy sources and storage devices is the fact that they can easily be simulated in real-time in any CAD simulation program. This paper reviews several types of suitable models for each of the above-mentioned devices and the most appropriate model amongst them is presented. Furthermore, a few important applications of these devices shall also be highlighted.
In this paper we describe the maximum energy transfer of CSA(Capacitive Switching Antenna). CSA which is radiated antenna system contain energy storage and switch, antenna needs to high voltage source for electrical field radiation experiment. In this experiment we employed Marx generator as a charging source. CSA can radiate electrical field more efficiently by varying antenna capacitance. The electromagnetic generation system which was using CSA has some advantages which are more simple and more effective compared to exist system. We evaluated the performance of electromagnetic wave generating system using CSA. As a result UWB gain of system is 0.47, It is higher level than exist system is 0.3. Radiated electrical field strength at 1m is 70kV/m. It is measured by D-dot sensor and gap distance is 20mm. Center frequency of CSA is approximately 25MHz. When vary the antenna gap distance from 50mm to 20mm, we can find the radiation field strength is decrease and antenna center frequency is increased. We also simulated the energy transfer efficiency to compare with experiment result. Consequentially, CSA needs to appropriate capacitance which is similar value from marx generator for maximum energy transfer, and gap is less than 1mm to increase the CSA capacitance.
Single phase converters suffer from ripple power pulsating at twice the line frequency. The ripple power is usually absorbed by a bulky capacitor bank and/or a dedicative LC resonant link, resulting in a low power density and a high cost. An alternative solution is using a dc link active power filter (APF) to direct the pulsating power into another energy-storage component. The main dc link filter capacitor can then be reduced substantially. Based on a mainstream dc APF topology, this paper proposed a new control strategy incorporating both dual-loop control and repetitive control. The circuit parameter design is also re-examined from a control point of view. The proposed APF scheme has better control performance, and is more suited for high power applications since it works in CCM and with a low switching frequency.
Nickel sulfide (NiS) is one of the most promising candidates as an electrode material for supercapacitors due to its good capacitive properties, high electrical conductivity and low cost. In addition to the development of the new electrode materials, nanostructuring the electrode surface is one of the main issues in enhancing the capacitive performance of the supercapacitors because the increased surface area can improve the charge transfer and energy storage processes occurring at the electrode surface. However, most nanofabrication techniques require complicated and delicate nanoprocesses, and hence are not suitable for practical use. In this work, we developed a simple method to fabricate nanostructured NiS electrodes by depositing NiS onto $TiO_2$ nanoparticles. First, $TiO_2$ nanoparticles were spin-coated on a fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) substrate, and then NiS layers were deposited onto the $TiO_2$ nanoparticles by consecutive dip-coatings in the solutions containing nickel and sulfur precursors. This nanostructured NiS electrode showed significantly improved capacitive properties compared to the electrode of NiS films deposited without $TiO_2$ nanoparticles. The asymmetric full-cell supercapacitor with this nanostructured NiS electrode and activated carbon electrode was also fabricated and investigated.
Heteroatom phosphorous-doped graphene aerogel (PGA) with high surface area is successfully synthesized via hydrothermal method for high power and energy supercapacitors, including the advantage of three dimensional internetwork and constitutive graphene skeletons. The morphology of PGA was investigated by the scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope. The chemical structure and circumstances were confirmed by Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, the phosphorus is successfully incorporated with the graphene sheets. As evidenced by electrochemical measurements, cyclic voltammetry and galvanostatic charge discharge, the hierarchically PGA has an unprecedented high capacitance, which contributes to the excellent high-rate performance of this material for supercapacitor application.

We describe a redox-enhanced electric double-layer capacitor (EDLC) that turns the electrolyte in a conventional EDLC into an integral, active component for charge storage-charge is stored both through faradaic reactions with soluble redox-active molecules in the electrolyte, and through the double-layer capacitance in a porous carbon electrode. The mixed-redox electrolyte, composed of vanadium and iodides, was employed to achieve high power density. The electrochemical reaction in a supercapacitor with vanadium and iodide was studied to estimate the charge capacity and energy density of the redox supercapacitor. A redox supercapacitor with a mixed electrolyte composed of 0.75 M NaI and 0.5 M $VOSO_4$ was fabricated and studied. When charged to a potential of 1 V, faradaic charging processes were observed, in addition to the capacitive processes that increased the energy storage capabilities of the supercapacitor. The redox supercapacitor achieved a specific capacity of 13.44 mAh/g and an energy density of 3.81 Wh/kg in a simple Swagelok cell. A control EDLC with 1 M $H_2SO_4$ yielded 7.43 mAh/g and 2.85 Wh/kg. However, the relatively fast self-discharge in the redox-EDLC may be due to the shuttling of the redox couple between the polarized carbon electrodes.
Polypyrrole(PPy) was composite with MWNT to attain cycle stable by chemical method. We have been considered PPy is the ideal material for high energy density electrochemical capacitor due to pseudo capacitor reaction. In this study we found that increase in cycle life due to composite MWNT. Also PPy/MWNT composite material have resulted larger capacitance and exhibits better electrochemical behavior. The structural feature was investigated by using SEM and TEM. The PPy/CNT composite is not only a promising ultracapacitor material for energy storages but also has a good possibility because of its great capacitive properties, simple preparation and low cost.
A Voltage Bus Conditioner (VBC) is used to mitigate the voltage transients on a common power distribution bus. The VBC described here utilises inductive storage and unlike its counter part with capacitive storage, it can employ the entire stored energy towards transients' mitigation. The performances of adaptive duty ratio control and sliding mode control have been compared. The simulation results (with the package SABER) indicate that the sliding mode control results in the shortest and the smallest bus voltage excursions.
