A visual servoing method is proposed for a robot with a camera in hand. Specifically, vanishing point features are suggested by employing a viewing model of perspective projection to calculate the relative rolling, pitching and yawing angles between the object and the camera. To compensate dynamic characteristics of the robot, desired feature trajectories for the learning of visually guided line-of-sight robot motion are obtained by measuring features by the camera in hand not in the entire workspace, but on a single linear path along which the robot moves under the control of a commercially provided function of linear motion. And then, control actions of the camera are approximately found by fuzzy-neural networks to follow such desired feature trajectories. To show the validity of proposed algorithm, some experimental results are illustrated, where a four axis SCARA robot with a B/W CCD camera is used.

In this paper, the speed control problem of moving camera is investigated for tracking the movement of the human-face. The camera system with pan-tilt mechanism sends an image to PC and PC sends back tracking coordinate to the camera. Then the camera tracks a human face in real time. The speed of the stepping motors for moving the camera must be controlled to the target region fast enough and smoothly, In this paper, a fuzzy logic controller is proposed for driving step motors. By creating driving acceleration and deceleration speed Profile, the speed of the motors is controled fast and smoothly. Experiments are performed to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
The objective of camera calibration is to determine the internal optical characteristics of camera and 3D position and orientation of camera with respect to the real world. Calibration procedure applicable to general purpose cameras and lenses. The general method to revise the accuracy rate of calibration is using mathematical distortion of lens. The effective og calibration show big difference in proportion to distortion of camera lens. In this paper, we propose the method which calibration distortion model by using neural network. The neural network model implicity contains all the distortion model. We can predict the high accuracy of calibration method proposed in this paper. Neural network can set properly the distortion model which has difficulty to estimate exactly in general method. The performance of the proposed neural network approach is compared with the well-known Tsai's two stage method in terms of calibration errors. The results show that the proposed approach gives much more stable and acceptabke calibration error over Tsai's two stage method regardless of camera resolution and camera angle.

An effective dual-mode camera system(a passive wide-angle camera and a pan-tilt-zoom camera) is proposed in order to improve the performance of visual surveillance. The fixed wide-angle camera is used to monitor large open areas, but the moving objects on the images are too small to view in detail. And, the PTZ camera is capable of increasing the monitoring area and enhancing the image quality by tracking and zooming in on a specific moving target. However, its FOV (Field of View) is limited when zooming in on a specific target. Therefore, the cooperation of wide-angle and PTZ cameras is complementary. In this paper, we propose an automatic initial set-up algorithm and coordinate transform method from the wide-angle camera coordinate to the PTZ one, which are necessary to achieve the cooperation. The automatic initial set-up algorithm is able to synchronize the views of two cameras. When a moving object appears on the image plane of a wide-angle camera after the initial set-up positioning, the obtained values of the wide-angle camera should be transformed to the PTZ values based on the coordinate transform method. We also develope the PTZ control method. Various in-door and out-door experiments show that the proposed dual-camera system is feasible for the effective visual surveillance.

In stereo vision, camera modeling is very important because the accuracy of the three dimensional locations depends considerably on it. In the existing stereo camera models, two camera planes are located in the same plane or on the optical axis. These camera models cannot be used in the active vision system where it is necessary to obtain two stereo images simultaneously. In this paper, we propose four kinds of stereo camera models for active stereo vision system where focal lengths of the two cameras are different and each camera is able to rotate independently. A single closed form solution is obtained for all models. The influence of the stereo camera model to the field of view, occlusion, and search area used for matching is shown in this paper. And errors due to inaccurate focal length are analyzed and simulation results are shown. It is expected that the three dimensional locations of objects are determined in real time by applying proposed stereo camera models to the active stereo vision system, such as a mobile robot.

This paper deals with the algorithm development that inspects defects such as Lens Focus, Focus check, Black Defect, Dark Defect, Dim Defect, Color Defect, and Line Defect, Angle Defect, IrisAgc Defect caused by the process of 2M Class Compact Camera Module (CCM). Domestic market was majorly comprised of VGA(0.3 million pixel) market. But in the middle of year 2004, camera phone with Mega Pixel has appeared, and it is estimated that the camera phone with Mega Pixel will take up to 28% of total phone sales if it is released in the end of year 2004. Since the inspection of finished products is done manually, it is major obstacle in production increment In this paper, to solve these problems, we developed the imaging processing algorithm to inspect the defects in captured image of assembled CCM. The performances of the developed inspection system and we can recognize various types of defect of CCM modules with good accuracy and high speed
Autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) are unmanned, underwater vessels that are used to investigate sea environments in the study of oceanography. Docking systems are required to increase the capability of the AUVs, to recharge the batteries, and to transmit data in real time for specific underwater works, such as repented jobs at sea bed. This paper presents a visual :em control system used to dock an AUV into an underwater station. A camera mounted at the now center of the AUV is used to guide the AUV into dock. To create the visual servo control system, this paper derives an optical flow model of a camera, where the projected motions of the image plane are described with the rotational and translational velocities of the AUV. This paper combines the optical flow equation of the camera with the AUVs equation of motion, and deriver a state equation for the visual servo AUV. Further, this paper proposes a discrete-time MIMO controller, minimizing a cost function. The control inputs of the AUV are automatically generated with the projected target position on the CCD plane of the camera and with the AUVs motion. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the modeling and the control law of the visual servo AUV simulations on docking the AUV to a target station are performed with the 6-dof nonlinear equations of REMUS AUV and a CCD camera.

This paper describes the design for a defective product inspection device for the curved glass used in smart-phone. Cameras are used as inspection devices to find cracks in LCDs (Liquid Crystal Displays), PDPs (Plasma Display Panels), etc. The devices used to inspect the curved glass used in smart-phone consist of a camera, two back-light apparatus, an inspection apparatus main body, and an image processing program. Camera image calibration was performed to smooth an image taken with the camera, and as a result, the average error was less than 0.12 pixels. And the image of a smart-phone's curved glass taken with the camera was processed using the produced program. As a result, the program could correctly extract the cracks on the curved glass. Thus, it is thought that the designed inspection device can successful detect cracks in curved tempered glass.

This paper describes the design of a cellphone curved glass measuring device using by camera. The measuring device was composed of two camera, two backlight system, a body and so on, and the program was made for a camera calibration and noise removal, and also the program was made for height measurement of a cellphone curved glass using by subpixel algorism. And then a new technique for measuring the height of the cell phone curved glass was proposed. The characteristics test of height measurement of gage blocks and cell phone curved glasses was carried out, the error of the height measurement of gage block is less than ${\pm}0.005$ and the error of the height measurement of the cell phone curved glasses is less than ${\pm}0.005$. Thus it thought that the designed cellphone curved glass measuring device and the new technique for measuring the height was used to measure the height of the cellphone curved glass.
Camera calibration is the method of finding the relationship between world coordinates and image coordinates with respect to camera coordinate. It is represented by PPM(Perspective Projection Mateix) compactly. And the PPM is effected by positions, intervals and distribution of control points. This paper presents to the relationship between PPMs and control points by experiment.
